InsideHoops presents a quick Nets briefing from Kerry Kittles.
InsideHoops.com: The Nets are a great team, and it was weird seeing the struggles that have gone on over the last month. Was anything in particular going wrong, from a total team perspective?
Kerry Kittles: Well I think our timing was off on a lot of things. Our timing was off on defense. We weren't buckeling down and guarding down and guarding guys. That was the number one reason why teams were shooting high percentages against us. And then on offense, we were kind of a little bit impatient, we were rushing things a little bit. So, it just takes time; when you're a young team coming back, and teams are playing hard against us, and it just takes us a while to learn how to play.
InsideHoops.com: Do you find that over time teams figure out how to guard you better?
Kerry Kittles: Well, yeah, the scouting in this league is very intense. People watch tape on us, all they do is study teams and study individuals. So, of course teams kind of know what we're running this year moreso than last year, so, sometimes you have to work harder to try to get the same looks.
InsideHoops.com: And when you come across a team that seems to have a better grip on how to deal with the Nets offense, how heavily do you have to adjust to counter it?
Kerry Kittles: There's definitely more work... you have to continue to work hard. Utah's been running the same stuff for 15, 18 years. People know what they're running but they can't stop it. So it's the same thing with us.
