NBA Observations
By Ricardo Aparicio
It's time to stop and take stock of the league I love. Who's hot, who's not,
who's right, who's wrong, and what Ron Artest did this time. I'll examine
these and more in a little something I call...
TEN RANDOM THOUGHTS ABOUT THE NBA
10. The NBA wants to set an age limit on its players. I say nuts to that!
Let Jordan, Malone, and Stockton play as long as they want.
Seriously, though, this idea is so bad, I won't even offer up an argument.
It doesn't deserve my mental energy.
9. The Lakers are bad...no, they're good...no, they're bad...no...ah, forget
it.
8. 1999 - Tim Duncan and David Robinson, the Twin Towers of the NBA capture
the NBA title. 2006 - Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry do the same thing, if
Clippers East doesn't screw it up.
7. I know Reggie Miller is old, but his game doesn't rely on youthful
energy. At least I didn't think so until this year. He's been horrendous
lately and should pack it in this year.
6. Rudy T. is an icon in Houston. His meta-talented team is out of the
playoff picture as I write this. Coaches, even beloved coaches, have been
fired for less than this.
5. The Spurs will need to replace the retiring David Robinson after this
season. Michael Olowokandi does not qualify as a replacement.
4. Ron Artest is ruining a fine career with his childish and thoughtless
antics. Vernon Maxwell and Walter Berry are nodding sympathetically.
3. KG, Big Fundamentals, C-Webb...'Sheed, where are you? You have the game
to be mentioned in the same breath with this group. If you weren't so busy
shooting threes and stalking referees, you'd be in that discussion too.
2. I thought the zone defense would kill the NBA. I was way, way wrong. In
fact, this is one of the best seasons of NBA basketball I can ever remember.
1. I think the Spurs will crawl out of the scrum that is the Western
Conference Playoffs this season. The 76ers will be waiting for them. The
Spurs will win a much tougher NBA Finals than they were expecting.
Spurs 4, 76ers 3
