Predictions for the rest of the season. Views are those of the writer and don't necessarily represent the official stance of this website.
- Rookie Of The Year
Yao Ming will surely win it. He never reached Stoudamire’s level before the All-Star break nor Butler’s consistency through the season. Even Gooden in Orlando will play better. But he will win.
- Coach Of The Year
Maurice Cheeks has to be given credit for holding Portland together. But Rick Carlisle is the COY. The Pistons have been brilliant and Carlisle should get the award.
- The Lakers
The champions are still a very difficult team to beat. But they aren’t likely to top the Spurs and only paranormal activity would make them knock-out the Kings in a seven game series.
- MVP
Kobe, T-Mac, KG, C-Webb and Dirk have played great. But Tim Duncan deserves this award for his consistency, offense, defense, leadership, the list goes on. If I was starting a franchise, he would be my first choice.
- Championship
Sacramento will beat the Spurs in the Western final and will meet the 76’ers. They have the deepest roster and confidence in themselves. Bobby Jackson and Peja will be important but Bibby and Webber are going to be the stars. After winning 4-2 in the Finals they’ll feel justice has came one year later. Webber will be the finals MVP.
- Other Awards
Sixth Man should go to Bobby Jackson. Sacramento started winning with him starting instead of Bibby and he has provided huge help coming off the bench. Matt Harpring and Gilbert Arenas will battle for the Most Improved Player award. Harpring’s consistency and Utah’s playoff spot should make him the winner. Ben Wallace will again be the Defensive Player. Ron Artest was competing but he threw it away.
