Sam Cassell Interview
By InsideHoops.com
Milwaukee's Sam Cassell has the pleasure of sharing
the backcourt with Gary Payton, who was traded from Seattle. The pair are two
of the best point guars in the league. InsideHoops sat down with Cassell at the
Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey to see how things are going.
InsideHoops.com: Talk about playing with Gary Payton,
how you like your new backcourt. You're both point guards who can score...
Sam Cassell: Well, we don't consider ourselves point guards
at this stage in our career. We consider ourselves just plain-old guards. We play
the game, it don't matter, as you can see today, who bring the ball up the court.
Half the time, we're fighting not to bring the ball up the court. I give him the
job all the time, he always tell me that he always give me the job all the time.
It don't matter to me, some nights he demands the ball and brings it up the court,
and some nights I do it. The chemistry we have is, I think, second to none in
this team. Two guys, under 6-5, that play the guard position, both playing at
a high level. The games we do lose, we're still playing at a high level. But we
have to continue to keep doing what we're doing.
