The Philadelphia 76ers today announced that they have assigned forward Arnett Moultrie to the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League.

This marks Moultrie’s second assignment to the Sevens. He appeared in three games during a stretch from February 4 through February 9. Moultrie has played in 12 games for the Sixers this season.

The Sacramento Kings were keenly aware of the streak.

They just didn’t feel the need to talk about it.

Instead, they went out and played the attacking style their coaches want to see.

Rudy Gay scored 27 points, Isaiah Thomas added 20 and the Kings were 40 for 50 from the free throw line on their way to defeating Philadelphia 115-98 Wednesday night to extend the 76ers’ losing streak to 18 games.

“To be honest, we didn’t mention it once,” Kings coach Michael Malone said of the losing streak.

DeMarcus Cousins had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Ben McLemore scored 15 points for the Kings, who snapped a three-game skid. Jason Thompson added 14…

Henry Sims posted career-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds, James Anderson added 17 points and Thaddeus Young had 16 for Philadelphia, which fell to 15-49 in dropping its 14th in a row at home, an ongoing franchise record.

Rookie center Nerlens Noel continues to impress observers in the closed-door sessions during 76ers practices.

Though a source with knowledge of the situation doesn’t expect Noel to play this season as he recovers from last year’s knee surgery, all who see him are encouraged about what he will bring to the future.

On the one-year anniversary of knee surgery, Noel remains a mystery, at least to the public.

The team sees him every day and considers him and rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams the foundation of what is hoped will be a promising youth movement.

Another night, another loss.

It was business as usual Monday for the tanking 76ers. This time, it was a 123-110 setback to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The loss dropped the Sixers to 15-48 and extended their losing streak to 17 games. That puts them three losses away from the franchise-record 20 straight defeats rung up by the infamous 1972-73 squad.

It also marked the Sixers’ ninth straight double-digit loss.

“To be honest with you, I’m trying to not even think about it,” Michael Carter-Williams said of the losing streak. “You know, we lose, it’s on to the next game. I can’t dwell on us losing 17 in a row. That’s not doing anything for me. That’s not doing anything for the team, for the coaching staff. Nobody.”

“Whatever all the talk is about us losing 17 games and people writing about it, that’s fine. We are going to stay focused as a team. And we are going to focus in on a win.”

The Philadelphia 76ers haven’t had many bright spots this season. Beyond the excellent play of rookie guard Michael Carter-Williams, the season has been a bust. Sixer fans need something to cheer for. Such a thing may come in the form of rookie Nerlens Noel, who was expected to miss the entire season. And he still might. But it’s possible he’ll step onto the court in early April. Here’s the Philadelphia Inquirer reporting:

Nerlens Noel would like to make his 76ers debut in his hometown of Boston on April 4, according to sources. They confirmed that’s why the rookie center tweeted “4-4-14” in reference to April 4, 2014 on Sunday afternoon.

The Sixers (15-47) play at TD Bank that evening against the Boston Celtics.

The sources said this is just a wish that he had not disclosed to the Sixers as of Sunday afternoon.

The 76ers hadn’t won a game since Jan. 29 at Boston.

Saturday’s tilt against the struggling Utah Jazz provided their best opportunity to get back into the win column. Utah headed into the Wachovia Center losers of the first five games of their six-game road trip. In all, they had lost eight of 10 contests.

But instead of getting the much-needed victory, the Sixers were handed another reminder of their incompetence. This one was a 104-92 setback despite Tony Wroten’s career-high 30 points.

The Sixers (15-47) have set the franchise record for single-season consecutive home losses at 13. They have also lost 16 consecutive games home and away. That puts them four losses away from the franchise-record 20 straight defeats rung up by the infamous 1972-73 team.

Not only have the Sixers been unable to win as of late, they have been unable to even keep it close.

The team, which is currently on a 15-game losing streak, has lost those 15 straight games by an average of almost twenty points per (19.8)!

They haven’t won a game since the end of January, and even that took a last second shot by Evan Turner, who has since been traded.

Not only are the Sixers getting beat, they’re getting blown out. It has become difficult to watch even for the most diehard fans of the franchise, and there’s no real reprieve in sight this season.

Allen Iverson cupped his hand to his left ear and asked to hear his favorite tune one more time.

With that command, 20,000 roaring Philadelphia 76ers fans gave AI the standing ovation he earned by stamping himself as one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

Iverson, emotional as he thanked former teammates and friends, had his No. 3 retired at halftime of Saturday’s game against Washington.

High above the Wells Fargo Center court, Iverson’s banner slipped between Maurice Cheeks’ No. 10 and Charles Barkley’s No. 34.

“They all wanted me to talk about how much y’all loved me,” Iverson said, “but trust me, the feeling was mutual.”
