Golden State Warriors forward Ike Diogu has suffered a fractured fourth metacarpal in his left hand, the team announced today. The injury occurred during yesterday’s (Sunday, October 10) practice at Kuhuku High School in Kuhuku, Hawaii, where the team is currently holding training camp.
The ninth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, Diogu will miss the team’s first two preseason games versus the Los Angeles Lakers in Honolulu (Tuesday, October 11 and Wednesday, October 12) and will be re-evaluated by the Warriors’ team doctors when the team returns from Hawaii later this week. There is currently no timetable set for his return.
Diogu suffered the injury when he was hit across the hand by an unspecified player as he was attempting to take the ball up for a shot.
