It doesn't matter when educated fans are discussing GOAT players.
At a certain point Jokics dominance will permeate to the mainstream anyways. Collecting 5 or 6 MVPs and winning rings is universal no matter how pleasing your game is to the public. Dominance is dominance and even casuals understand this.
Look at Brady in the NFL. There was...

The general public may be stupid but they pay for the product we enjoy. We are the minority so we can't say their opinion doesn't count. It does. If the general public is not behind the product there is no NBA. If stars were like Jokic 80% of the fanbase would watch the Globetrotters instead.
As for the physical part I do believe you need...

AD said none of them had a clue what they were doing. Ham is gone.
Just a shame he had to waste a couple last seasons of the GOAT's career though. :facepalm

He sees it. There's a clear bias against him regardless of what he does. He should have had this take after 2020 though when they treated him like a 2nd rate star despite what he did all RS + Playoffs.

When I watch the games I see a dude 7 foot and 300 pounds running around all game setting screens and bullying dudes in the paint, never letting up. He finishes with finesse and skill, but he's a physical specimen all the same.
Most guys weren't even physically dominant... MJ and Kobe lived off midrange jumpshota because they weren't big men...

The general public is stupid, but I think he genuinely won't accept Jokic as the best player he's ever seen because he doesn't match his protypical "physically dominant" player that he made up in his own head.
The notion makes little sense to begin with, but saying Jokic isn't physically dominant is just not true. The guy is 7 foot and built...

It's been a thing since he joined LA. He gets iced out of so many games, regardless of his play. They want to play faster at times which I get, but your best option is being iced out of 2nd halves on a consistent basis. No wonder the offense struggles as much as it does. They were 11th in pace their championship year and were 11th in ORTG. 16th in...

It seems like you're trying to bait me into saying something but I can't pin it on one particular thing apart from the coaching not getting him involved again. I recall a couple times LeBron looked like he was trying to do too much (think that was the third Q). Maybe AD becomes more passive or confused when such things happen. maybe he was tired....

He is not visibly and aesthetically dominant. Most people don't see it as physical dominance. And even when they do it's not what they are looking for. Moses Malone. Never talked about. He was dominant as hell. Doesn't count. Not flashy.

I think he talks about the opinion of the general public. As in: if you held a vote worldwide what would the result be. It's not his opinion. It's his opinion on other people's opinion.

Most people have that opinion because it's the correct one. If you follow a sports team you're going to care about wins and not stats at the end of the day. If a guy can't win consistently you're not just going to keep sucking them off for their individual performance while your team gets embarrassed regularly.
Why am I still on ISH? Idk, I...

You realize basketball is a team sport right? Maximizing your teammates while also being individually great is exactly what makes him the potential GOAT. Your argument just doesn't make any sense.

This is also true. However, what makes it very interesting is that he doesn't need a given player. If it is Manimal or Gordon: same result. Bruce Brown? KCP? Same result. He doesn't even need a certain skillset in his teammates. He uses the abilities they already have and maximizes their potential. You don't have to find certain types of players...

Jokic is physically dominant though. He averaged 30/14 PLUS 10 assists in a finals run. Even without the assists, that is historically dominant. He put up peak Shaq numbers scoring wise on better efficiency while feeding his teammates.
You're basically just arguing that he cant jump high and doesn't dunk enough.
He's massive and strong and...

I agree with this.
What makes him very special is something I'll repeat:
Each and every player that has played with Jokic the last 5 years played the best basketball of their lives when they shared the court with him. Their production goes up when Jokic is on the floor and their shooting % improves quite a bit too. There is no teammate...

Exactly.
He is on his way to showing us all what the greatest TEAM PLAYER ever can look like.
His teammates have more success playing with him that without him, and he needs them to have chemistry with him, to maximize his own abilities, and to maximize his own advantages.

At least someone gets this. Mathematically it gave Denver a great chance to get this into OT/win. There's at least a 60% chance he misses that shot, and no one's there to get the OREB unless it's a long one. Let's just say that the shot had a 40% chance of going in. Great. Denver with 15 seconds left with a timeout can get a shot off and have...

But what happened in the 4th? Davis got a long rest and was hitting all his shots. He was 14 of 15 from the field at a point. Then he missed 3 in a row (probably shouldn't have taken that 3 from the corner that started it) and got his long rest. Came back in the 4th and did nothing. Why is that? I have to rewatch if he was passive or they stopped...

Oh for sure.
I appreciate his brand of greatness.
It’s different, and fun for any student of the game to watch.
Not interesting to those who don’t understand the game.
Jokic is to basketball somewhat what Tyson Fury is to boxing.
A guy who doesn’t appear the way many expect.
Who isn’t muscle-bound, cut up on PED’s, etc.
But their actual...

One look at the last couple pages of this thread and you just know it's the playoffs and Lebron's team has choked again.
Got guys in here arguing that a good shot shouldn't be taken (lol) and the Lebron stans super emotional about the loss bringing up Kobe.
Wooooooo!!! :hammertime:

our definitions of “dominance” as it pertains to the game of basketball, apparently differ significantly.
What you call dominance, is what I would refer to as “statistical dominance” or “well rounded high efficiency skillset”. What I am referring to, is when a player can, on every single possession, physically impose their will in an...

AD disappeared in the second half. I blame the coaching though. It's the same shit over and over again. Just call time and get the guys right. Adjust and get some plays going when "it" happens. Do anything other than what has been done so often this season.
Just the same bad habits and lack of direction slowly unfolding again. I called it in...

Yeah... and has essentially won 4 straight MVPs and has the best advanced stats ever.
I guess scoring in the high 20s on elite efficiency and being the best passer in the NBA isn't enough to be considered for GOAT. like what? :oldlol:
I guess if he was black with a 40 inch vertical and scored primarily with dunks and put-backs he'd have the...
