There's a really good NBC documentary on this narrated by Bob Costas but I can't find it on YouTube. It used to be on there. You see the lengths that FIBA and everyone else went too to rob the US of the gold medal. Up to and including the head of FIBA coming to the court from the stands and making up rules mid game. Cheating commie scumbags.

Point is that AD is the main reason that they were relevant because he was their best scorer & defender, and they made it a point to run the offense through him more this season and they were much better on offense because of it. Some hot 3PT shooting nights when AD was out with injury doesn't mean that they were a better team without him or that...

Since this is a rookie contract he will be a restricted free agent so the Lakers can match any offer.

If rrr3 hasnt agreed with you on a particular issue by this point, hes not going to. Unless theres a change in incentive structure in his own life (i.e. he gets a raise at the library for changing his view on issue x) then hes not going to. Youre cant just "logic" him into a different view. I know when youre young you think that must work on...

Obviously he's not dedicated to improving his craft, but he'd be a better version of what he was in his first few years in the league if his body held up.

That's a load of horseshit. He has been coasting on defense since 2017 and can only do it in spurts. Overall he's a below-average defender at this point in his career and it shows in his effort and in his stats like EPM.

I doubt hes naive enough to believe itd be any different somewhere else. It's not like any other team he signs with wouldnt turn around and do the same if they thought there was an opportunity to get better.

What was his career high with LeBron on the court?
Kyrie averaged 25.6 last year playing with Luka.

Nets didn’t get back good on their investment. It’s one thing if Ben Simmons was there on a minimum deal. It’s another when you’re paying him that hefty contract. And he’s missed a season, he comes back and is injured. And while he has looked consistent when healthy? You’re not getting back what you have paid for. Once nets made him a bench player...

I don't either, it was a random thought upon hearing that the trade didn't go through. I'm just curious as to whether he will internalize it or just view it as 'part of the business'. He's not projected as some franchise cornerstone but he could go on to have a solid career.

I have no insight into his personality but the lesson for him to take from this is that there's little loyalty and NBA is a business. He's not the level of star where everyone will be offering the max and he can reject the Lakers out of spite. But any kind of home team discount is out the window.

I wonder if Knecht will view this as being a pawn piece in a failed trade and look to sign elsewhere when his contract ends.

That's all fine and good but he's damaged goods and there are other players who can do that without the baggage. Why did the Nets buy him out and what are the Clips hoping to get out of him that the Nets couldn't? I suppose if you can get him on a minimal year to year contract, ok....as I said there's always some idiot with money who thinks he's...

Yeah, the Hornets were hiding something and trying to get the most out of the deal. I believe I saw a Pelinka quote where he was confident about the guy's long-term health, given the history of his injuries that were reported.
Once they did a physical more issues came up.

Well, reading the title it gives me vibes of "I once beat the best player in high-school 1-on-1 after getting beaten 100 times before", something not to be taken that seriously. Anyway, I started watching NBA in 1999 when some of those college players were on their prime, and I am eager to see them tell their side of the story, what they are up to...
