applenader, when/wehere/why/how did you become so deeply interested in USA basketball?

I think around 1996. My parents were all hyped up watching the Chinese national team live on TV, so I basically watched it with them. I remember a TV announcer saying that watching the 96 US team simply wasn't fun anymore compared to the Dream Team, so clearly I began to question why.

I am pretty sure the first thing I did when we got internet was to read about the Dream Team.

Also, in 2000, all of my dad's friends came over to watch the basketball games, and I remember them arguing about how much the US team sucked ass and was overrated.

Fourth of all, we moved constantly when I was a kid, so I never developed any support for my local NBA team. I guess the US team became my de facto team of choice.


what international rules would you institute in the nba if you were the commish?

Everything. Seriously. I want to turn the NBA into FIBA. I like the fact that you can play real defense, and not some half assed abortion of a zone that you see in the NBA. I like the cylinder rule, it adds a unique feel to the game. I love the trapezoidal lane and lack of a charge circle. I like the continuity of play, instead of the constant stoppages for touch fouls. I like the fact that you can actually be physical in the post. It's unfortunate that FIBA is reverting to more NBA style rules/court dimensions in 2 years. It will be a sad day.

hm.. i'm not really sure. there are some star players in my top 10, but there are more role players for sure. maybe it's because there's so many fans of the star players and i wanted to do something different, but it wasn't like a concious decision or anything. i just started watching basketball and liked whatever players i liked.

obviously it's easier said than done, but honestly i think i would. i guarantee she wouldn't want me to though. she would take a bullet for me.

i don't necessarily dislike rock, i just don't really know anything about it. there are some songs i hear on the radio (which i very rarely listen to) that sound ok, but they don't appeal to me enough to research them or buy the cd. maybe it's just the culture that doesn't appeal to me, the tight pants and the long hair etc. :lol

also, i'm into really lyrical rap, stuff with thought provoking words and such. i like to listen closely and decipher what the artist is really saying. i'm sure rock like that may exist, but i've never heard it.

i'm a very good 3 point shooter with deep range. i also hustle my ass off and play good defense. i have good handles but sometimes struggle to drive to the basket because i get pushed around by much larger opponents. don't get me wrong there, i take it strong to the basket all the time, i'm not afraid to bang around in the paint at all, sometimes i just get out-muscled.

i accidentally broke a washing machine at work and made it out to be a mystery because the things are extremely expensive. it didn't end up even being seriously damaged and a friend of mine fixed it easily (long story) but at the time i was scared sh!tless and i've never told the owner or anyone that i busted it.

i'm not sure i'd change anything. i don't want to mess with my life. you may think you're making it better but you never know how one change could effect other decisions and characteristics.
