Pretty much everything in my apartment :oldlol:

Specifically, my TV stand, couch, coffee table, kitchen table, etc. You wouldn't know that they were used items if you saw them. I take good care of what I own. I just can't go into a department store and buy brand new things right of the bat.

Bought a "used" domain name on EBay not too long ago. Cost me $10 and and I renewed it another year for another $10. Six months later a company gave me $3000 for it. Turns out they had the name copyrighted. A friend of a friend who was a lawyer got a grand though. Bought a lot of "used" 10 super heavy duty tow straps for a $100, sold 2 for the same $100 to a friend a short time later. I have had good luck buying used crap on EBay so far. <knocking on wood>

My father was at a jobsite a while back and some HVAC guys were going to throw away some commercial air conditioners, so my dad asked to have them anyways, and they obliged, no problem. These air conditioners, with the compressers run about $7500 each. He didn't have the compressors, but he did end up selling them for about 3K each. He used the money to overhaul his landscaping, now his front and back yards are ****ing gorgeous, best in the neighborhood, hands down.

**** like that happens to my dad all the time.

Used bookstores... I have several haunts I return to a couple times a year. Anyone who owns a used bookstore in any area I've ever lived in knows me by name. I have a whole wall of books and maybe one shelf total of them is stuff I bought new off like Amazon.

So I'd probably say Gravity's Rainbow or Ulysses (got for $3 and $6.50 respectively).

Recently though I got a electric chain hoist worth about 1200 for 100. My buddys dad is the head electrician for a hospital and he just ordered new ones so they were getting rid of them. He took two home and a couple other guys took one. He was bringing them in when I started asking and offered a hundred bucks as a joke. He said sure since one was just gonna sit around. I was so shocked and stoked.

I don't normally buy used goods but I was looking for a cheap road bike in Philly and prices were astronomical ($300 at least). Found a guy on craigslist who mostly "finds" old bikes and sells them locally, so I gave him $100 straight up for an old but sturdy bike with a 60" frame (i'm a pretty tall dude). Then I went out and bought two bike locks ($30 each) to make sure my property isn't stolen. Have to take those kinds of precautions living in a place with such a high crime rate. :lol

not me but my bro bought a Bobcat i paid most of the cost for. used one from Craigs List.

that thing has been a gold mine. we had a HUGE winter storm here where he made a killing doing parking lots, i'm talking about $400-500 for a small lot. tax free cash. he made thousands. plow trucks couldn't handle the snow, and Bobcat rentals were out of stock and they were weak ones anyways.

on top of so much general work that we would've spent thousands for to pay a company to do. plus he's got mad bobcat skills now.

he actually did a lot of renovation work, extending our building, and general construction stuff that i only paid materials for. he also ended up buying a dump truck, i'm talking heavy duty type too, like the ones construction companies use to haul gravel from Craigs List for like $1500~, but it had a few issues. still tho it was a deal, and i paid for that too. we fixed most of the issues tho and it functions, its just he hasn't gotten back nearly as much for it as the Bobcat has.

its pretty even in the end since we're both benefitting.
