Yeah buddy, go ahead and get excited about going 1-3 against Utah this year...

You could be in the middle of the Gobi desert, having not seen another lifeform for three weeks, and whisper "Utah Jazz," and a fanatical Nuggets fan would instantly appear and try to tell you how much the Nuggets own the Jazz.

Try it the next time you're stranded in the middle of nowhere.

I'm a Raps fan, but the Jazz are backup team is T.O. goes out in the first round. I love the scrappy, balanced, skill game they play.

Ummmmm, I'm a LAKERS fan and I don't give a poop about any other team. I just thought that I'd come in here and say HI to all of you Jazz fans.

While some Lakers fans have them winning in a sweep....I say that's nonsense because Utah is extremely talented and have 2 great players in Boozer and Deron. Saying that the Lakers would "sweep" is disrespectful. With that said, I'm picking my Lakers to win in 5. I gave you guys 1 game (no need to thank me).

Anyhow.....cheers and bow down to the greatness of one Kobe Bean Bryant!!! :bowdown:

Its interesting to see how ur criticizing the Jazz when u got swept against the Lakers 4-0 (with a good team you have (d) - Melo, A.I., Camby, Martin, Smith, etc.)

Deron was back at Illinois this weekend to play in an alumni game. Had his jersey raised to the rafters. Some funny photos from his college days too. (http://illinihq.com/)

Gene Vance was there - in a wheelchair - he had his jersey raised, too.

But are team wasn't near 100% because of the injures. Wait till Deron and Carlos are 100% and see how we make it to the playoff's because we are one of the best teams in the West.

I'm from a very small town in southern Illinois,McLeansboro population 2,500. Its located in Hamilton County which has a total population of less than 8,000. In McLeansboro we have nothing of really any interest besides our high school basketball,the McLeansboro Foxes, and our one claim to fame, Jerry Sloan. In the professional world he is known as "Mr.Bull" for being a star with the Chicago Bulls and the first Bull in franchise history being selected first in the '66 expansion draft but in McLeansboro he will always be known as the "Fabulous Fox". Jerry is still a resident of McLeansboro and spends his off seasons here. To us in McLeansboro he's just another good ol' boy. Every hunting season you never know who he will hunting with him, Greg Ostertag and Karl Malone being two of his favorites to bring back home to McLeansboro.Jerry is 100% what you see it was you get, he isn't putting on a country boy act for anyone, he truly is the humble, and giving. He has done so much for our little poor town here I couldn't even begin to name all the things he has done from giving a Christmas to the less fortunate familys in town, to buying are high school a greenhouse, building a AWESOME playground for the children, Jerry does too much to even try to name all the things. I have even been fortunate enough to get to share a few beers with him a couple of times at the local Elks Club. But anyway I'm getting off of my point, as I often do. This summer we was pleased to find out that Jerry was being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. When you see the Utah Jazz play that physical, hard nose game just know that they got it from their coach. We may not always be the most talented team in Mcleansboro but we will out hustle and just be plain damn meaner than the other team and that is why we win and that is why Jerry has had his success in Utah. Watching the Jazz play on t.v. often makes me laugh its the same offense and defense that we was taught during are high school days at McLeansboro. We are so proud of our "Fabulous Fox" and just wanted to share a little about our hometown hero with you guys.

*1965-drafted as the 6th overall pick of the Baltimore Bullets
*1966 was drafted with the 1st pick in the expansion draft by the Chicago Bulls
* in 1966 led Bulls to playoffs as an expansion team
* 2 time All- Star
*4 time All Defensive first team
*2 time All Defensive second team
*4th all time on Bulls in scoring
*recorded two triple doubles
*After knee injuries cut his career short his jersey #4 was the first ever to be retired by the Chicago Bulls

* Made playoffs in 16 straight seasons as coach of the Utah Jazz
* Longest tenured coach in American Sports
* Only coach in NBA history to record 1,000 wins with the same team
* 4th on all-time coaching wins list with 1,136 (at end of '09 season)
* .603 career winning percentage

"I don't care if he's 19 or 30. If he's going to be on the floor in the NBA, he's got to be able to step up and get after it. We can't put diapers on him one night, and a jockstrap the next night. It's just the way it is." — Jerry Sloan on second year guard C.J. Miles, the youngest player on the 2006–07 Utah Jazz.

In 1976 Sloan took coaching job at his alma mater University of Evansville and withdrew 5 days later. Later that season the Evansville Purple Aces plane crashed killing the whole team and all 29 people on the plane.
