Thought that for those that follow the ACB closely we could have a thread going for it.
Barcelona so far look really strong.Last night they were 12 down at half time and still won by about 20.Lakovic top scored, this is the guy that they were trying to get rid off??Fran Vazquez looks like he is back to his best!!
DKV Joventud who will be missing ricky Rubio for atleast 6 weeks also won with a great Demond Mallet.estudiantes have started like they did last year 2 defeats and Iurbentia Bilbao on the other end of the spectrum have 2 wins continuing their incredible results from last year.Pamesa have also got 2 out of 2 Ws.More games tonight.

the difference with Lakovic this year is that barca have a lot of depth, last year they wanted him to take over as the leader and he wasn't up to it.this year he can afford to have a couple of 3 point games because there is navarro, sada, grimau, andersen, ilyasova and now a much improved Vazquez.Same with santiago when he is good he is very good when he is bad he is really bad.But because of the depth in strength they can afford these guys to have the odd poor game.
yeah, I see what you mean. Besides, I think he could be playing more SG than PG this year (mainly while Navarro is still out), because Bar

Yeah I watched it, it was 15-20 points the whole time until the last 3 minuets when Sun Yue, Brandon Heath, CJ Giles, Coby Karl, and Luke Walton were in the game. Navarro torched them with 34 points and a bunch of threes. Bynum was destroying Vasquez and Andersen when he was in the game and Odom was beating up on Basile and Barton.

You're fixation on the NBA and Stern is disturbing. :oldlol:
Actually, the lineup was Brandon Heath, Joe Crawford, Coby Karl, Sun Yue, and CJ Giles and they were still enough to hold off Navarro, Lakovic, Andersen, Ilyasova, and Barrett.

Where they owned by the clippers too??
This is a team that has flown to the states a day after playing a league game and now has to play a euroleague one! Barca were giving xavi rey time, who never plays in the league and also resting their players by rotating a lot.So they deserve credit for actually trying to compete and doing so in insignificant friendlies

The Clippers won because it was a home game with only nba officials, there's a reason the nba doesn't allow their teams to play in euroleague stadiums with only euroleague officials. Now I don't think it's a good reason because fans won't stop buying tickets because of one loss but there's a reason.

personally i dont think playing in the nba is a dream for a lot of players anymore,Navarro found out it wasn't all its made up to be.It has to do with money.Euroleague and barca get a good packet out of it,in sporting terms it is an awful move. But sports are finance. If I was a pro in a city and a club as great as Barcelona,Madrid,Athens etc earning a packet in highly competitive leagues why would I go to live in Utah or Memphis and have no hopes of winning and playing with a lot of guys looking after their numbers??It wouldn't make any sense.Marc Gasol what are you thinking off???

Nearly every league is cutting back including the nfl, mlb and nba. The only league spending more is big soccer and the euroleague. The nba is going through a basketball recession and lacks creativity and interest. The nba is a boring league. You can call the euroleague and it's teams like panathanikos, olympiacos, cska, tau, maccabi, barcelona many things but they're not boring on and off the court. I am with you on this one bjerk but unfortunately the euroleague is going the way of the nba with bertomeu being a bit like stern. He wants to close the competition, perhaps not as much as the nba.I think Bertomeu has done a great job but now he is spoiling it. I dont hate the nba either but I do find it a bit unitnteresting, teams like memphis are the worst example of the nba, the players play for themselves and are interested in their own numbers only ,they know the team will lose and they dont mind provided they get their numbers.I feel sorry for Marc Gasol but at the same time think he deserves it for going there. He could have been playing for barca winning games and standing a chance at various trophies.surely a sportsman wants to win and needs the thrill of competition,Marc has opted for the money and fame in the NBA.

I want to be fair to David Stern. David Stern has accomplished good things, he saved the nba, he made people a lot of money, and he treated his players and was fairer to his players than his predecessors. But the last decade has tarnished David Stern's legacy and the difference between David Stern and Jean Bertomeu is David Stern is being allowed to run the nba into the ground. If I were an owner I would give someone else a chance that won't over litigate the nba and will add an artistic charm into the nba. One example is the nba doesn't contrast today's stars with yesterday's stars. If I were nike I run a campaign with Kobe Bryant and Lebron James saying they're not michael jordan. They are they're own person and play the game their way.
Back to the ACB, it's a joke that the San Antonio Spurs are held to a limit to sign Tiago Splitter. Tiago Splitter is one of the best centers in the world and the nba needs him.

there are two big issues with ricky entering the draft:
- the money, since his clause is huge with respect to the salary he would earn in the NBA, even being a top 3. He could be paying Joventut for years!! Not to mention if he falls from the top 3.
- the teams that could pick him. Out of the 6 teams with more chances to be in the top 3 of the draft, only Sacramento and Minny are for me a good place to go for him to develop as the rising star he is, since all the other teams already have a reasonably good PG or a black hole (Arenas) to handle the ball. Obviously, the draft night trades could play a big role on the final result, but we can not guess now.

I agree. my way of seeing it is that he is only 18,he needs to develop more,I know that he is a special type of 18 yr old as he has had more experience than most 18 yr olds.still he needs to improve.now is he going to get better going to the nba or playing in europe ? Well, probably you're right, but I think this guy can play good bball right now in the NBA and can develop into a star there as good as he can do it here in Europe. Of course, being more mature could help to make an instantaneous impact in the US, but it could also make him a type of player unable to shine there, like it happened to Jasikevicius. Tonight is the draft for the nba.Is Victor claver not the most overrated young player in spain?? He is a very ordinary player, yet he is in the draft?delusions of grandeur on his part I think.

I was really high on him a couple of years ago. But the latest seasons have been disappointing. maybe due to bad coaching, but he looks now much worse than he did. Just this afternoon I commented to a friend that he would end up undrafted if he does not withdraw his name.

The draft isn't today, today is just the draft lottery. The draft will be held towards the end of June.

I really don't get the excitement of playing in the nba. A few major markets are viable but the interest isn't there for the majority of the franchises to compete financially. Eventually teams spending money they don't have will cause a crisis.

you are right I apologise, as for victor claver berraco is right.when he first appeared he looked really good but last season and this season he has been very normal.I think pau ribas of joventut is a much better player albeit a different type of player.

You know that when it comes to this subject I am with you 100%. I don't see how a player who could be playing in europe competing against great teams and fighting for atleast 3 competitions could be excited to go play for the clippers!! If I was ricky for example I would rather sign for barca, pana, cska etc that would be more exciting.

I like Blake Griffin, I thinks he's more than a copy of another prospect. The guys that are good are more than the next _____ . But what do you say to the guy, congratulations you're the best prospect for the nba, now go play for Donald Sterling. If you read the deadspin piece Sterling's the worst of both character and organization. Someone like a Blake Griffin would want to work in a place like that?
Portland got the better half of the DKV Joventut dual of Ricky Rubio and Rudy Fernandez. Which I personally think Rudy Fernandez signing with the Portland Trailblazers will be remembered as a cautionary tale. Portland has allowed itself to be hit harder in the current recession and Paul Allen is having his own difficulties.
For some reason the nba prefers those that peak when they're young than the guy that gradually improves. I'm not that high on Ricky Rubio.

Because some players believe the NBA hype and marketing machine. It's not really based in reality at all, but that's why the NBA spends billions in marketing.

I think Ricky will be great,he is only 18 lets not forget. However I think he needs to stay in Europe in a great european side for atleast 3 or 4 years.

I take the decision of being elegible draft player and, for sure, he will be selected. I think he needs to improve his shooting ability and his physical capacity to be an effective player in NBA.

like in so many important games Navarro is being ****! loads of turnovers and only 2 field goals made in the entire game. Anderson and Ilyasova missing easy shots from close range because they are scared of ndong! a lot of money but no cojones.

2 1 great game from barca. Ilyasova and the incombustible Basile! How great Gianluca Basile is! anyway great chance for barca to win it at home.TAU have players with niggling injuries,Splitter as usual is out at sea when he is facing big defenders and big matches,I really think Splitter is good but not great, nowhere near what Scola was for TAU.
