Alright, it's that time of the year again. We are 10 days away from Halloween. What in your opinion are the top Halloween movies (or horror movies that go with Halloween)?

Every year I have to put in 'Pet Sematary'. To me it's just perfect for Halloween.
Others would maybe be 'The Shining', 'Session 8', or 'American Werewolf In London'. Whatever mood I'm in basically.
'The Thing' is another option. :confusedshrug:

I'd take Videodrome over all of them. Cronenberg was a real genius.

The first time I saw Videodrome and the part came up with he starts digging around in the hole in his torso. That part really disturbed me. I can't say that has happened with many movies before or after. For that, I applaud him.

I've heard good things about it and seen the trailers but haven't had a chance yet. Is the story good? Damn, it looked violent.

WHAT!? You're killing me, bro! I've seen almost all of his movies and that's my favorite, without a doubt. Trust me, from one Cronenberg fan to another, you need to see this movie.

I can't believe I've waited all these years to see it last weekend for the first time and I've watched just about everything! Great experience though. I'm going to buy that one. :D

I've seen snippets of that, but I've never watched the whole movie.I was the same way. Saw snippets on TV but it never really made sence or interest me. It's a type of movie you have to see from start to finish. It's just too bizarre to watch parts of it and relate. Great movie. Check it out.

Man, Being John Malkovich is absolutely fantastic, I'm surprised you haven't seen that yet Pete. Really twisty, turvy movie that you couldn't predict if you tried. One of my favourites of all time - although I will admit that has a lot to do with the "genre" (quirky as ****) being right up my ally.

OMG, him singing on that piano cracked me up! :oldlol:
It truly was very well done and had a great story besides the comedy. :D

BINGO!!!
We have a winner! Yes, Halloween surely reigns supreme over all other horror movies. Does any other movie out there match it's creepy atmosphere? The music alone is enough to creep me out. That has to be the scariest music I've ever heard. Donald Pleasance is magnificent in the film. And is it just me or does anybody else feel bad for the poor girl that gets killed in the car? If you haven't seen it, it is a MUST SEE!

This month I've seen:
The House at the End of the Street
[REC 3]
Drag Me to Hell
I'm in the mood for a good ole fashion creature feature or slasher flick.
My annual Halloween watch is Dawn of the Dead....the modern one.

Romero's Night of the Living Dead is a classic.
Underrated and not well known is The Fog. It's a pretty great movie (although campy) with a bit of an older feel. It's a strong recommendation if you are looking for something besides the ones everyone mentions. It's a John Carpenter movie btw.
I'm thinking of watching 15 horror/thriller movies this Halloween season that I haven't seen so I'd like to see some other strong recommendations from people. So far on my list is:
The Exorcist (I know...why the **** haven't I seen it yet?!)
Videodrome
Babadook
Evil Dead 2 (1st is one of my favs)
...?

IMO the genre has the biggest following but also tons of people who just straight up have no interest for some reason. It's my favorite.
I usually watch really cliche ones for a Halloween marathon. Trick 'R Treat, Halloween franchise, Screams and the obvious ones.
The Blob, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Nightbreed, Return of the Living Dead, Vamp, Night of the Creeps, Night of the Demons, Night of the Comet, They Live, Satan's Little Helper, Terror Train, Body Bags are ones I try to watch in October too. Satan's Little Helper, Terror Train would be good Halloween choices.
