I LOVE the Dixie Chicks!!! I have all of their CD's! I also have a nice country collection: George Jones, Patsy Cline (the greatest female country singer of all times!), Hank Williams, Sr., Charlie Rich, Lefty Frizzell and Merle Haggerd.


I also think that George Jones is the finest (meaning best not how he looks)country singer ever! Listen to "Why, Baby, Why?", "White Lightning", "Who Shot Sam" and his whole Grand Tour album!


I also like the new generation of country singers: Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, the Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, etc. Country music is not really that bad. I mean if it's good (even great) music, I'll listen to it!

As for the thread, I love a lot of country, but dislike most of what has been posted in here (outside of the LJJ stuff). Not a fan of the saccharine nashville **** from the 80s on (there are some good songs and artists, but overall its pretty ****ty). I do like some randy travis, ricky skaggs stuff, but overall that **** on the radio is terrible.

How about some George Jones, Merle Haggard, David Allan Coe? For the record, folk music (like the norman blake posted by LJJ) and bluegrass are far superior to radio friendly country. Mayhaps Ill post some really good country music later today when I have a second.

Haha...what? I know he wasn't a huge fan of Texas A&M due to the bad music scene but he had some PRIME real estate. I wish I could find a house to live in around that area. Where I'll be living next year is just as prime though, behind northgate!

The music scene back then sounds like it was stronger than right now (though its trying).

apparently, her review by the chancellor was acquired by the eagle under the FOI act and many people in both industry and academia have said it was inappropriate. I havent read it. but many people think this was as much a politically motivated move as much as anything else. Thats what happens when you have a political appointee in charge of a large educational system IMO.

Itll be interesting to see how it all works out.

I honestly havent been in the MSC in about 4 years. I do occasionally walk by it.

check out the comments on the eagles story from monday. The only people bringing in her ethnicity are total starface types, saying "of course all you liberals are gonna cry wolf cause a mexican lady lost her job" when in actuality, the people decrying the situation say nothing about her ethnicity or gender but focus on the actual issues at hand and the tension between her and the chancellor. its a smokescreen tactic.

The only people bringing in her ethnicity are total starface types, saying "of course all you liberals are gonna cry wolf cause a mexican lady lost her job" when in actuality, the people decrying the situation say nothing about her ethnicity or gender but focus on the actual issues at hand and the tension between her and the chancellor. its a smokescreen tactic.
