he'll probably have a night like that at some point this year. he's always been the fourth or fifth option since melo got here so he hasn't got many looks. he's playing so well right now though i would be shocked if he doesn't break 30 this year. the only problem with that is he is such a good passer for a big man that he tends to overuse that talent instead of just taking it to the hole.

Also, this site (http://www.nbauniverse.com/nbaplayers/gary_payton.htm) is pretty nifty. It has career highs in points-rebounds-assists for select players, although it doesn't seem to update very well for newer players, e.g. Parker's page has his career high at 38.

Ever watch an old Pistons game? Like any of the 88, 89, or 90s Finals maybe? He was fast and strong. Not exactly a good shooter of course but he could actually drive and get into the paint. I can definitely see it against a bad team.

I did, but I was between 4-6 years old. I'm not saying it's the equivalent of Brian Scalabrine getting 50 or anything, just that it's more surprising than the rebound stat.

Yeah I was young then too but I like to watch old playoff games. I think it's a little silly when people try to say Rodman could've been a great scorer like Jordan or Pippen but when he was younger he definitely had some potential. More than say, Ben Wallace or something. By the time he was on the Bulls or heck even the Spurs he was definitely a different player and they were basically playing 4v5 on offense.

that's where you leave Rodman alone, and he get all those offensive board and tip-ins.

No, that was his career high with the Knicks. This is what it says about him on his bio page at NBA.com:

"He was named NBA Rookie of the Year after averaging 24.3 points to finish fourth in the league in scoring. In one game against the Los Angeles Lakers he tossed in 56 points."

I can't find any evidence to back it up because my computer at the moment is running extremely slow, but I believe that'd be his career high in points scored. It seemed odd to me that a guy who, in his rookie year, averaged nearly 25 points a game in his rookie season couldn't manage to surpass the 35 points in one game mark at least once. I guess he would have been incredibly consistent had his career high actually been 32.. haha.

Injuries are a *****. Ever since he came to Houston he has been plagued with injuries, first his back for about 2 years then that finally stops bothering him, but the elbow and knee injuries strike. If he had been healthy all this time, he would still be close to that level.

You`re counting season career hight or play-offs career high?

Barkley 56 points...play-offs vs Warriors 1994 Game 3

Interesting would be to see the FG% on FGAs in those career highs...to determine how efficient a player is when scoring 30,40, 50, 60 points...etc

Only took him 31 and 33 shots to get it as well. Impressive.
