View Full Version : Posterize's Statline of the Night

New thread where I'll be posting an outstanding statline of the night. It could be the best looking one (say if James Harden has 25 and 6 assists, and no one else is really playing that night) or it could be a surprise statline (a 5'10" guy from Mount St. Mary's who averages 5ppg dropping 46 in a game).

Depends how I feel. So to kick it off!

Nice line. Would have been considered but 25/8/5 in leading your team to a win over #1 on the road gets the win.

BTW, he looks like Mogley from the Jungle Book.

I didn't pick him because he's done that plenty of times before. The point of the thread is to kind of give players some credit who stepped their game up in a specific game and rarely receive credit.

Griffin's already had plenty of 20/16 games and will have plenty more. Can't pick him everytime he does it to a team like Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Blake did that against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The only thing Blake has proved this season is that he is willing to completely overwhelm teams with no size in their frontcourt. Until he faces a grown ass man, Blake is still suspect.

Who the hell can say they've watched Lin play? :oldlol: But damn what a statline.

Jeremy Lin :pimp: is a friend of mine, we go way back. So yeah I've seen him play since he was 10 years old. I've also played on teams with him, he's a beast. He lead Palo Alto high school to a state title his senior year by beating Mater Dei lead by Taylor King (Duke then transfered to Villanova) Kamyron Brown (Oregon) and Alex Jacobson (Arizona)

The 2006 Palo Alto High School basketball team (With Gunn's players)

Jeremy Lin :pimp: scored 17 points as underdog Palo Alto shocked nationally ranked Mater Dei, 51-47, to win the boys' Division II state championship.
The Vikings (32-1) won their second state title while handing the Monarchs (33-3), ranked 19th by Studentsports.com, their second straight upset defeat in the state title game. Last year, unheralded Oak Ridge knocked off heavily favored Mater Dei 60-44.
The Monarchs got 23 points from 6-7 Taylor King, but didn't use the height of 7-1 Alex Jacobson or 6-7 Steve Tarin to their best advantage, settling for 22 three-point attempts out of their 58 shots. Kamyron Brown was the only other Mater Dei player in double figures, with 10.
Kheaton Scott scored 11 points for Palo Alto, including the late first-quarter basket that put the Vikings ahead for good, and Brad Lehman added 10.
It looked as if Mater Dei would dominate when King threw down an impressive dunk just 2:22 into the game to put the Monarchs up 4-0, but after that, the game belonged to Palo Alto. The Vikings tied the score at six and eventually built a seven-point lead, 15-8, but Mater Dei cut the margin to four, 24-20, at the end of the second period. The lead extended to nine with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter, but the Monarchs battled back to cut it to one, 36-35 with 7:01 left in the game. Palo Alto pushed the margin out to five twice more, but Mater Dei kept the pressure on.
Down two with slightly more than two minutes remaining, the Monarchs harassed the Vikings into a near shot-clock violation, but Lin :pimp: banked in a 27-foot three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to put Palo Alto up by five again -- and the Monarchs could never get closer than two down the stretch.

I've seen him play a bunch of times up close. Last time was when we clinched the Ivy title last year and a trip to the NCAA tournament at home. We heckled him into 4 straight airballs and a real rough night, then almost trampled him as we stormed the court. I hate that b&tch with a passion.

We might be there too. I've only seen Bernardini play once, and that was at the Palestra last year. He lit us up for 25, so he's definitely a great player. He didn't suit up when they came up here due to injury. It's too bad Penn is sucking so far. They've lost a couple of key players to injury.

I'm not nominating it over Monroe's stat line.

That dude, in my opinion, is clearly the nation's best freshman, and Rivals should've stuck with him as their No. 1.

If I was an NBA GM, in fact, he'd be No. 1 on my draft board right now. I think his potential and skill set are both through the roof. I love everything he does on the floor, and I think he has the potential to be a better version of Derrick Coleman.

However...I have to throw this one out there for four reasons:

1. He's from my high school.

2. I hit a monster home run off him in Little League (granted, he was 10 and I was 12).

3. I love kicking the sh*t out of Indiana, even when they're historically bad.

4. Only two people in Illinois history have hit more threes in a game. One of them is Dee Brown, who should need no introduction to any college basketball fan in the last five years. The other is, well, Trent Meacham, who nearly tied his own record today and is the Big Ten's top three-point shooter:

Does Meacham or McCamey run the pg? Either way the 0 turnovers are just as impressive as the 7 threesChester Frazier runs the point, mostly. Leads the Big Ten with 6.2 assists per game. McCamey splits time between running point and playing off the ball, kind of like Dee Brown did with Deron at the point.

Meacham always plays off the ball but does average close to 3 assists a game.

Yeah, he lit up both Indiana and Purdue last year. Had 31 points and 7 threes against Indiana, then had 26 points and was 6-6 from three against Purdue in the Big Ten tournament.

McCamey heats up extremely quick. He's streaky, but he'll put 10, 12, 13 points on your ass in a few minutes. He's already had about four or five games this year in which he scored 10+ points before the second TV timeout.

Lock this thread up until February. (Obviously, I could do so myself right now, but Posterize could unlock it just as quickly, so I'm just throwing a drunken suggestion out there.)

Not only did he put up the biggest scoring night from a guy from a BCS school that I can remember since Eddie House about nine years ago, not only was it extremely efficient and accurate, scoring 54 on only 22 field goals....but he contributed big-time in other areas, with 8 boards, 4 assists, and only 1 TO on top of it.

Seriously, we should retire the thread until next month.

A triple-double in college is rare, and usually will give a player an automatic win. 10 blocks is just ridiculous, especially in only 28 minutes. Calathes had a triple-double 3 days ago. 26 points (5-10 3pt), 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 blocks, and only 3 turnovers in 38 minutes of play.

I'm near tears whenever he plays. He should be in an Illinois uniform.

That triple double is damn impressive, but give me Blair's 23 points and 22 rebounds with 11 offensive boards.

It was a day when all the stars were out. Saturday's are gonna be like that. Blair or McNeal could have won it easily, I just thought the 10 blocks were too much to pass up.

Because it's a nice, round number?

Sorry, gotta go with McNeal or Blair easily over Thabeet. Nothing against Thabeet, whose game would've won easily on many nights. If he had something like 22 points and 15 boards with the 10 blocks, that's one thing, but he didn't, and McNeal and Blair were on a completely different level.

The McNeal statline is great. The Blair one is too, just the 22 boards isn't a crazy thing for him. He's the best rebounder in the country, has 7 games of 15+ boards.

You see occasional triple-doubles in college. Antonio Anderson had one this year, Nick Calathes had one. But it's rare you see one with 10 blocks as the third "double". Especially in 28 minutes.

Jerel McNeal, Marquette

38 minutes
26 points
8-16 fg
5-8 3fg
6 assists
4 rebounds
5 steals
4 blocks
3 turnovers

in a 76-61 defeat of DePaul. I love how he's getting these blocked shots. He's averaging almost a block per game at only 6'3". He's improved so much from last year it's crazy.

Runner up: Wayne Ellington- 29 mins, 34 points (12-15 fg, 7-9 3fg, 3-3 ft), 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 0 assists, 4 turnovers

Dejuan Blair, Pitt

32 mins
32 points (14-23 fg)
4-5 ft
14 rebounds
1 assist
3 steals

Dante Cunningham, Villanova

35 mins
31 points (12-15 fg)
7-12 ft
9 rebounds
3 assists
2 steals
1 block

DeJuan was doing the damn thing as usual. The reason I couldn't make him a clear cut winner was because it came against a 8-16 DePaul team. He's easily the best rebounder in the nation and a load down low.

Dante did his statline against a quality opponent (#20 Syracuse). It seemed like he couldn't miss, and most of his shots were coming on jumpers. The most improved player in the Big East this year.

Lavoy Allen, Temple (bit homer, but not much to choose from)

39 mins
23 points (10-14 fg)
3-4 ft
13 rebounds
2 assists
2 blocks

Lavoy's been turning it on the last couple games, averaging 13.6 ppg/10.2 rpg/2.4 bpg/60% fg over his last 5 games. Shows promise for when Dionte graduates that we've got a good big man. Lavoy's problem has always been his assertiveness, and it seems he's finally coming out of his shell.

Talk about some crazy statlines. Thabeet with 25/20/9, Griffin with 40/23 on 16-22, Meeks with 45/7 on 17-24, Calathes with 16/13/9/4.

Blake Griffin, Oklahoma

31 mins
40 points (16-22 fg)
8-10 ft
23 rebounds
2 assists
2 steals
1 block

in a 95-74 victory over Texas Tech.

Once again shows his dominance. The fact that he was able to do this in only 31 minutes makes it that much more impressive. This was his 2nd 20+ rebound game of the year (the first 21 rebounds vs. Purdue). I know this would never happen, but what if Oklahoma had Griffin come back? Griff/Crocker/Warren would be tough to stop.

Honorable Mention: Hasheem Thabeet- 25 points/20 rebounds/9 blocks/1 assist
