nas - one love, third verse

sometimes i sit back with a buddha sack
mind's in another world thinking how can we exist through the facts
written in school text books, bibles, et cetera
fukc a school lecture, the lies get me vexed-ah
so i be ghost from my projects
i take my pen and pad for the week
and hitting l's while i'm sleeping
a two day stay, you may say I need the time alone
to relax my dome, no phone, left the 9 at home
you see the streets have me stressed somethin terrible
fukcing with the corners have a n igga up in Belleville
or h.d.m., hit with numbers from 8 to 10
a future in a maximum state pen is grim
so i comes back home, nobody's helping shorty doo-wop
rollin two phillies together in the Bridge we called 'em oowops
he said, "Nas, n iggas could be bustin' off the roof
so i wear a bullet proof and pack a black tres-deuce"
he inhaled so deep, shut his eyes like he was sleeping
started coughing when i peeked to watch me speak
i sat back like the mack, my army suit was black
We was chillin' on these benches where he pumped his loose cracks
i took an l when he passed it, this little bastard
keeps me blasted he starts talking mad shiet
i had to school him, told him don't let n iggas fool him
'cos when the pistol blows that's when a murder be the cool one
tough luck when n iggas are struck, families fukced up
could've caught your man, but didn't look when you bucked up
mistakes happen, so take heed never bust up
at the crowd catch him solo, make the right man bleed
shorty's laugh was cold blooded as he spoke so foul
only twelve trying to tell me that he liked my style
then I rose, wiping the blunts ash from my clothes
then froze only to blow the herb smoke through my nose
and told my little man that i'm a go cyprose
there's some jewels in the skull that he can sell if he chose
words of wisdom from Nas try to rise up above
keep an eye out for Jake shorty wop ONE LOVE

ye it aint hard to tell has gotta be up there.

alot of nas and az joints for me, rather unique is a awesome lyrical song

last vers of 2pac me gainst the world, inspirational verse

one of azs best lyrical songs, hard 2 pic a verse

At times i wanna watch out the Mariot, zoning on owning co-ops,
foreign drop top coups, and yachts guzzling straight shots a scotch,
formulating up plots ta escape from Salems lock cuz its scorching hot,
making it hard trying ta figure who's out ta trap me, Pataki, got all
kinds of undercovers coming at me, perhaps he, won't be happy, til they
snatch me, and place me where half slacks be, sitting in Catsaki, but
never me, see, my destiny ta be forever free, in ecstacy, on a hill
that awaits for me, so plus, just ta visualize is like a coke rush,
vivid enough ta make living this a must, plus this is real

No more cutting grams, and wrapping grands up in rubberbands, i'm a
recovered man, our plans ta discover other lands, suburban places got me
seeking for oasis, cristal by the cases, ladies of all races with dime
faces, sex on the white sand beaches of Saint Thomas, though this ain't
promised, I'm as determined as them old timers, I wanna villa in a Costa
Rica, so i can smoke my reefer and enjoy how life supposed ta treat
ya, laid in the shades of the everglades, finally forever paid, wearing
the finest fabrics tailors ever made, me and my team, carrabeans
forseen, i guess being down for so long i'm all in store ta see my
dreams

so until i see past the green pasture, me being supreme master, ain't
much more life ta feind after, but another chapter, a new way of life to
adap ta, cuz these streets a gas ya,and have ya caught up in the rapture
de ja vouz, i could vision my killa crew, more hospitable, consciously
aware plus political, cuz though they claim that every man created equal
whats his native people, find it harder for nights to sleep through,
but once established we living lavish, like the house of versi, paris,
i gotta have it, it so plus, just ta visualize is like a coke rush,
vivid enough, ta make living this a must, plu this is real

Nas' verse from Live at the BBQ.

Street's disciple my raps are trifle
I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle
Stampede the stage I leave the microphone split
Play Mr. Tuffy while I'm on some Pretty Tone ****
Verbal assassin my architect pleases
When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffin Jesus
Nasty Nas is a rebel to America
Police murderer, I'm causin hysteria
My troops roll up with a strange force
I was trapped in a cage and let out by the Main Source
Swimmin in women like a lifeguard
Put on a bulletproof ***** I strike hard
Kidnap the President's wife without a plan
And hangin ****** like the Ku Klux Klan
I melt mics till the sound waves over
Before steppin to me you'd rather step to Jehovah
Slammin MC's on cement
Cause verbally, I'm iller than a AIDS patient
I move swift and uplift
your mind shoot the gift when I riff in rhyme
Rappin sniper, speakin real words
My thoughts react, like Steven Spielberg's
Poetry attacks, paragraphs punch hard
My brain is insane, I'm out to lunch God
Science is dropped, my raps are toxic
My voicebox locks and excels like a rocket

He was only 16 when this song came out.

Also like the whole B.I.B.L.E. by Killah Priest.

I really like this verse by Inspectah in the 7th Chamber

I leave the mic in body bags, my rap style has
The force to leave you lost, like the tribe of Shabazz
Murderous material, made by a madman
It's the mic wrecker, Inspector, bad man
From the bad lands of the killer, rap fanatic
Representing with the skill that's iller
Dare to compare, get pierced just like an ear
The zoo-we-do-wop-bop strictly hardware
Armed and geared cause I just broke out the prison
Charged by the system - for murdering the rhythm!
Now, lo and behold, another deadly episode
Bound to catch another ****in charge when I explode

Lets talk about the struggle, lets talk about the pain
Some people say they love you, but that don't mean a thang
Some folks is so naive, not me.. I go insane
Some people dap you, they hug you.. they do it all in vain
That's my depression talking.. maybe it's really real
Maybe them doctors was right, and maybe I'm really ill
See I can't really chill.. without feeling the guilt of me
Stealing these pills
Is anybody feeling me still?
(Shit) except for the hood.. nobody told me, I ever couldn't
Instead, I pushed.. back when they told me I never would
Looking at me, like I was just a crook
I express the hood, and what I see on the daily
My scenery daily
Task force... B & E's daily
A task y'all.. being me daily
They want to put, 3 in me nail me
This is stuff, you only read on The Daily
Had product, but ain't supply it then
High off more than weed..so the product just got me higher than
Product of my enviroment
Look-at-where-they-put-me.. and look where they telling me I gotta be
Stop and see, the robberies ..the poverty
Naw fam, its not for me
Its got to be, an opt atleast
Without-dudes-gettin'-chased-by police
So they gave us film, sport.. and the gift to make a hot CD
Back to the wall, against the ropes
Nothings believable, feezable.. they don't believe in you
You've been verbally beaten to
A pulse, so the result to you think nothing is reachable
Reasonable, I tell you dreams come true
Yeah haters, even YOU!

Inspectah Deck'z verse in "Triumph."

Kool Moe Dee's second verse in "I Get The Job Done."

Arguably Ice Cube'z entire IWAGD song.. just for that keen art of storytelling.

My homer pick is Eminem'z "Patiently Waiting" just cause he GOES HARD.

That'z nowhere near the worst or the greatest, but it does have one of the best basslines of original rap beats in modern times today so I don't know why you posted that but I like listening to that song so it's all good.

TOMMY ain't my mother****in' BOY
When he fake moves on a ***** you employ
Well I'll EMIRGE off ya set, now ya know God damn
I show LIVIN LARGE ****** how to flip a DEF JAM
And RUFF up the mother****in' HOUSE
Cause I smother you COLD CHILLIN' mother ****ers are still WARNER BROTHERS
I'm RUTHLESS my clan don't have to act wild
That **** is JIVE, an old SLEEPING BAG/PROFILE
This soft comedian rap **** ain't the rough witty
On the reel to reel it wasn't from a TUFF CITY
****** be game, thinking that they lyrical surgeons
They know their mics are formed at VIRGIN
And if you ain't boned a mic you couldn't hurt a bee
That's like going to Venus driving a MERCURY
The CAPITOL of this rugged slang, is WU-TANG
Witty Unpredictable Talent And Natural Game
I DEATH ROW an MC with mic cables
The EPIC is at a RUSH ASSOCIATED LABELS
From EASTWEST to ATCO, I bring it to a NEXT PLATEAU
But I keep it phat though
Yo, I'm hittin' batters up with the WILD PITCH style
I even show an UPTOWN/MCA style
Who thought he saw me on 4TH & BROADWAY
But I was out on the ISLAND, bombing MC's all day
My PRIORITY is that I'm FIRST PRIORITY
I bone the secret out a ***** in a sorority
So look out for A&M, the abbot and the master
Breakin' down your PENDULUM
As I fiend MC's out with a blow that'll numb the
a-ppendix, I'm holdin more more weight than COLUMBIA
Index INTERSCOPE, we RCA. clan
That's comin' with a plan to free a
slave of a mental death MC don't panic
Throw that A&R ***** off the boat in the ATLANTIC
Now who's the BAD BOY character, not from ARISTA
But firin' weapons released on GEFFEN
So duck as I struck with the soul of MOTOWN
While CENTRAL BROADCASTING SYSTEMS are slowed down
You're Dirty, like that Bastard
It's gettin drastic

Read the label and say it loud
Another Wu banger
Thirty-six chambers, to your area
Yeah, the RZA, phat tracks on a disc
Rza razor rza razor sharp
Another Wu-Tang production kid, comin at ya

This has now become an Illmatic thread ay? Now doubt NAS holds at least half of the top 10 verses but this verse by Dre on the Watcher can be considered, ghostwritten or not :
[Dr. Dre]
Things just ain't the same for gangstas
Cops is anxious to put N!ggas in handcuffs
They wanna hang us, see us dead or enslave us
Keep us trapped in the same place we raised in
Then they wonder why we act so outrageous
Run around stressed out and pull out gauges
Cause everytime you let the animal out cages
It's dangerous, to people who look like strangers
But now we got a new era of gangsters
Hustlers and youngsters livin amongst us
Lookin at us, now callin us bustaz
Can't help but reminisce back when it was us
N!gga we started this gangsta sh!t
And this the motherfcuking thanks I get?
It's funny how time fly
I'm just havin fun, just watchin it fly by (the watcher)

[Chino XL Lyrics]
That lyric tarantula, Chino about to make this example of
Wit one verse, ****tin on a whole label roster sampler
My first name:Chino, my last name:Went There
Leavin rappers curled up and dyed like Immature's hair
Wit lyrical warfare, when I spray ****
My style like AIDS, half a y'all got it just none of y'all is sayin ****
I hate and spit at devils that want to posses Chi
Jesus came in the vocal booth, like "*****, you the next me!"
So test me, battle and you will become a dead man
And there's a lot of fake Chino's like Craig Mack's a fake Redman
But I'm above the surface of this rap circus
Writin more incredible verses on accident than you can on purpose
You a worthless waste of flesh, like fat asses on a nun
I'm God's bastard son, that blasts and thinks bloodbaths are fun
I hate you wit a passion, make white chicks faint like I'm Hanson
Historically know for bringin down the house like I'm Samson
My damn tongue bursts, in the the first verse there's a bad curse that hurts
I'm leavin wack church passengers inside of a fast hearse
Escapin the wrath of Jerse
It's a sad earth when my pen dirts
Axe murderer type of massacre occurs if we match words
I'm past blurs, I smack herbs
Gritty-green eyes like Badu
Leavin minds ****ed up like Maxwell's hair-do
And I'ma be the sickest till I'm dead
The type to rent Halloween 4 eight times just to laugh at LL's head
My new album is Flo-Jo's heart, watch it blow up
You ain't just wack, you're what wack wants to be when it grows up

Eminem's 1st verse from Renagade:
[Eminem]
Since I'm in a position to talk to these kids and they listen
I ain't no politician but I'll kick it with 'em a minute
Cause see they call me a menace; and if the shoe fits I'll wear it
But if it don't, then y'all'll swallow the truth grin and bear it
Now who's these king of these rude ludicrous lucrative lyrics
Who could inherit the title, put the youth in hysterics
Usin his music to steer it, sharin his views and his merits
But there's a huge interference - they're sayin you shouldn't hear it
Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit
Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish
But I'm debated disputed hated and viewed in America
as a mother****in drug addict - like you didn't experiment?
Now now, that's when you start to stare at who's in the mirror
and see yourself as a kid again, and you get embarrased
And I got nothin to do but make you look stupid as parents
You ****in do-gooders - too bad you couldn't do good at marriage!
(Ha ha!) And do you have any clue what I had to do to get here I don't
think you do so stay tuned and keep your ears glued to the stereo
Cause here we go - he's {*Jigga joint Jigga-chk-Jigga*}
And I'm the sinister, Mr. Kiss-My-Ass it's just the

Eminem's 3rd Verse from Sing For The Moment:
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
Well can it load a gun up for you , and **** it too
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued
See what these kids do is hear about us totin' pistols
And they want to get one cause they think the ****'s cool
Not knowin' we really just protectin' ourselves, we entertainers
Of course the ****'s affectin' our sales, you ignoramus
But music is reflection of self, we just explain it, and then we get our
checks in the mail
It's ****ed up ain't it
How we can come from practically nothing to being able to have any ****in'
thing that we wanted
That's why we sing for these kids, who don't have a thing
Except for a dream, and a ****in' rap magazine
Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize they favorite rappers and know all they songs
Or for anyone who's ever been through **** in their lives
Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We're nothin' to you but we're the ****in' **** in they eyes
That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and
hold it
Cause we consider these minutes golden
And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone
Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our
songs and we can...

Nas is Like first verse: Freedom or jail, clips inserted, a baby's bein born
Same time my man is murdered, the beginning and end
As far as rap go, it's only natural, I explain
My plateau, and also, what defines my name
First it was Nasty, but times have changed
Ask me now, I'm the artist, but hardcore, my science for pain
I spent time in the game, kept my mind on fame
Saw fiends shoot up, and do lines of cocaine
Saw my close friends shot, flatline am I sane?
That depends, carry Mac-10's to practice my aim
On rooftops, tape cd covers to trees
Line the barrel up with your weak picture then squeeze
Street scriptures for lost souls, in the crossroads
To the corner thugs hustlin for cars that cost dough
To the big dogs livin large, takin it light
Pushin big toys, gettin nice, enjoyin your life
is what you make it, suicide, few try to take it
Belt tied around they neck in jail cells naked
Heaven and hell, rap legend, presence is felt
And of course N - A - S are the letters that spell . . .
NAS, NAS

Both verses from One Day At A time by tupac and eminem...**** was ill:
Sometimes its hard to wake up in the morning
Mind full of demons, I don't wanna hear them anymore
Got me heartbroken, fine, so many babies screaming
Cause they seeing destruction before they a see human being
So they start smoking weed, we'll never get our day
Until we learn to pray, keep our families in shape
Cause they all broke. and why do ghetto birds die
Before we learn to fly, some bodies else's child caught in guns
Smoking weed, can all make a change
So I'm told, but I haven't seen the change unfold,
I keep hoping please, if you prefer to breathe,
Communities in need of people that will lead
Keep your eyes open, I can only say I'll try
Until the day I die, I promise to be wise
With my heart open, greed, brings only misery
A way to tragedy, so I stay sucker free
Only a few chosen, rise (rise)
My ghetto queen, rise (rise)
Don't be afraid to try (try)
Too many of us died to the door to open wide
My brother be wise, stay focused on the prize
Though everybody dies
We can...

Only learn to take, our anger and our hate
Control our mental state, settle down, and just set it straight
Maybe we can learn to take a second to pump the brakes
For we said it, regret it later, and let it escalate
Cause by then its too just late, theres so much we can take
Theres only so much someone can swallow and tolerate
To the point that he just breaks, snaps and thats all it takes
You'd think that we was learning from other rappers mistakes
But we aint
Its plain to go against, with every artists, comes the image he portrays
And a picture that he paints
But in the midst of all this anger and this angst
Never once did you hear me say I'm a gangster and I aint hear no complaints
But I know, that I will always continue to grow,
As long as I lead and never follow no one else's shadow
There will never be another me
And that I can guarantee
Thats why the **** I remain sucker free to this day
The game will never be the same
No matter how much fame or success they attain
There will never be another me
And no matter what they do
There will never be another you
You can search but you'll never find
You can try to rewind time
But in your hearts and your minds
We will never die
We are forever alive
And we continue growing....

Jay-Z in History

Now victory is mine, it tastes so sweet
She's my trophy wife, you're coming with me
We'll have a baby who stutters repeatedly
We'll name him history, he'll repeat after me
He's my legacy, son of my hard work
Future of my past, he'll explain who I be
Rank me amongst the greats, either 1, 2, or 3
If I ain't number one then I failed you victory
Ain't in it for the fame that dies within weeks
Ain't in it for the money, can't take it when you leave
I wanna be remembered long after you grieve
Long after I'm gone, long after I breathe
I leave all I am, in the hands of history
That's my last will and testimony
This is much more than a song, it's a baby shower
I've been waiting for this hour, history you ours

The Prophecy- Immortal Technique

I calculate planet alignment like Mayan astronomy
Discovering atrocities worst than Aristotle
Subjecting children to sodomy
Your theory of the galaxy is primitive like telome
The truth about the universe stuck up like Aztec pottery
Unpredictable results like experimental psychology
I stomp the streets with emcee's beneath my feet in colonies
But presentation and spirit revolve around autonomy
Searching for monogamy
And cutting fake *****es out of my mind like a lobotomy
So obviously I'm not gonna be here to play games
Walked the top of the world and leave the arctic circle in flames
Battle the beast and false prophet predicted in the King James
I give a **** about your emcee name I don't admire you
Only by dental records will you be identifiable
Cause the future is not reliable
Remember when rap was not economically viable
Comparable to what mother****ers think of me
I might be nobody but wait till I'm together like a symphony
Resounding sound that will continue infinitely
Angel of death punishing all those who live in infamy
And shine so far away from you
You'll never get a glimpse of me
Attempts to extinguish me don't even bother me none
Like retarded kids throwing ice cubes at the sun
A victory against Immortal Technique will never be done
Just degrees of losing it every second your adding one
Some ****** dream of pushing kilos but I drop tons
With more facts and formulas and philosophical logic
Then a basement full of scientists puffing on chronic
Dipped in mycin potassium cyanide and liquid bubonic
And use it as a sonic one to find the spawn of the demonic
Screaming like onyx is of absolutely no consequence
The poison is dense enough to clog up your arteries
Mercy is not a part of me
I cause you bodily injury permanently be simply verbally murdering me
Is inconceivable cause of the unbelievable evil injected inside
The blood stream of my people
And redemption is not located under a church steeple
The feeble and the meek in soul just like the technique
Will inherit the earth, But the earth will be weak
Mother earth in her decrepit terminal illness physique
The year three thousand is bleak no happily ever after
Just death following the forth right disaster, a legacy of bastards
With plastic explosives your futures been eroded
Cause you forgot that when your free it's multiplied indefinitely
By the struggle that be the struggle I see
To socialistically united the third world countries
Expose hypocrisy in Americas democracy
Sloppily obsessed with stopping me cause I speak prophecy
Trample and dismantle your capitalist philosophy
The same way I stomp the conquering rap monopoly
And I'm not a ****ing prophet
But that's the ****ing prophecy

Jay Electronica - Eternal Sunshine

She said she never fell in love with a superman
Christian, Muslim, Protestant, Lutheran,
I told her that being a mortal is a portal to the true nature of growth; the Christ like Buddha man
That's why I never spit the traditional garbage of a night fight, bright lights, white ice to the fans
The radio is just a stereo, like a house and a home, a chair is just a chair, ask Luther Van
Go to work; go to church let your dreams die
Bow tie, final call, and a bean pie
yarmulke for Hanukah, wish list for Christmas
This is the jist of the life that we lead, why?
So you can fit in, with the close minded in the sit-ins, and clothes lined ed-end
I could care less about a plaque and Benz and get Punked on TV by my friends
Don't get a ***** wrong, I get tempted by the rewards that all come along with ***** songs
But what does it mean if I'm a Muslim and you a Jew and because of that alone we don't get along
And when you talk like this, and try to walk like this the radio stations'll never put a ***** on
Just Mims, just 50, just Wayne, just Jeezy, Dem Franchize Boyz, and Jimmy Jones
**** that, **** rap this God-hop,
King-dom mu-sic for the hard rocks
Imma spit it till TRL get it and Hot97 hear the ***** with a bomb drop
Ask Flex, ask Slay, ask Who Kidd
Just blaze said Jay is the new kid
I took Eternal Sunshine and I looped it
No drums no hook just new ****

While everyones pulling nas verses, i'm surprised no one posted I gave you power :confusedshrug:

Nas - I gave you power
Always I'm in some ****, my abdomen is the clip
The barrel is my dick, uncircumcised
Pull my skin back and **** me, I bust off when they unlock me
Results of what happens to ****** shock me
I see ****** bleedin runnin from me in fear, stunningly tears
fall down the eyes of these so-called tough guys, for years
I've been used in robberies, givin ****** heart to follow me
Placin peoples in graves, funerals made cause I was sprayed
I was laid in a shelf, with a grenade
Met a wrecked-up tech with numbers on his chest that say
Five-two-oh-nine-three-eight-five and zero
Had a serial defaced, hopin one day, police would place
where he came from, a name or some sort of person to claim him
Tired of murderin, made him wanna be a plain gun
But yo I had some other plans, like the next time the beef is on
I make myself jam right in my owner's hand

andre 3000's verse in goodie mob's 'black ice'.

Friends, Romans, countrymen lend me you eardrums
it was a beautiful day off in the neighborhood
Yellows and greens and blues and browns
and greys and hues that ooze beneath dilapidated wood
Ain't a thing could explain but what pertains
to cocaine it a thing that rain
See summer roll around ****** all about change
then they steady move them keys like bob james
Coz old man winter's arrived
the temperature dives
November just died
December's alive
thus it ain't no typical ride
just individual way to bring home the bacon when bacon was all gone
making it our own taking me all wrong
We've all indulged in the bulge of these no-nos
no you ain't solo, its cause lower levels you can go

GZA - 'Breaker, Breaker'

Verse 1:

This is not a test it's difficulty
Picture closely the ignorant mostly
Blind deaf dumb your mind left numb
Lost soul who failed to hear the roll of the drum
In the bottom of your bomb shelter still felt the
heavy blast that blew off the mass of twelve welders
The math of an elder, praise the lord
Thank you Genius, operation project English
Commander-n-chief of flight style, check the air craft
Glide like the frisbee, Digi look Disney
The check false in ones self is pure loveliness
You break the mirror that remind you of your ugliness
So when I bust, no one is in touch
Some returning with the mic clutched like such
Fool plan but didn't execute
He had the heat in his hand, but, yo, he didn't shoot
Therefore your mechanism of material better be sickly
or let your lead spread incredibly quickly
I move bravely, travelling on a horse
on a battle field surrounded by the lost
of those who plotted with the brains of animals
My high molecular structure be untangible
The name ring the bell, killable two syllable
The Wu is coming thru, the outcome is critical
To be blunt, the beef was cooked up like coke good
The rhyme first came to me in the oak woods
Up to no good, rap icon
Note the industry like the wall street junk bomb
You see the mic shown, I got your height sewn
Direct currents that move thru the mic-phone
Key contributor, well known major factor
Rhyme distributor, the drive of a tractor
Who run ya down if you don't wanna move or wanna linger

Verse 2

The immortality of my fame is the measure
of other's torture, burnt offer from a flaming author
The falconer who flies enough birds for the chase
Strictly excel in what is excellence with grace
The significance was not the vocal applause of entrance
but the feeling that exits, completion of my sentence
With aging experience, my reason ripens
Strike on your vikings, slash like a hyphen
If you enter the house of fortune, I vacate the pleasure
You will leave by sorrow, the flow measures
Everything fails with the unfortunate
Learned that recording it, so my mind brought in it
Track records rank us with the exceptional
Extreme complex physics, high technical
The truth is usually seen and rarely heard
Was more dangerous than hatred, is the word
You wild cards jack up all trades
Those who parade their positions, show the spade
A large flock of MC's, they figure to be taught
It ain't hard to see why I'm vigorously saught

Do music's magical causing any battle to be tragical

I'm vicious, mad malicious
cause it's real on this road to riches
I got this mastered, other rappers'll craft it
weak and wicked camoflauged as killers

nonbelievers I'm leaving speechless
left to chokers and skunk smoke

nas verse 2 second childhood it just reminds me of so many bum ass ****** i know
Yo, dude is 31, livin in his moms crib
Ex-convict, was paroled there after his long bid
Cornrows in his hair, still slingin, got a crew
They break his moms furniture, watchin Comicview
Got babies by different ladies high smokin L's
in the same spot he stood since, eighty-five well
When his stash slow, he be crazy
Say he by his moms, hit her on her payday
Junior high school dropout, teachers never cared
They was paid just to show up and leave, no one succeeds
So he moves with his peers, different blocks, different years
Sittin on, different benches like it's musical chairs
All his peoples moved on in life, he's on the corners at night

How bout some Biggie?

It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
Hangin' pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock 'til my tape popped
Smokin' weed and bamboo, sippin' on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
With the hat to match
Remember Rappin' Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I'm in the limelight 'cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born sinner, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I'm blowin' up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
It's all good

Uh, and if you don't know, now you know, *****, uh

BIG - Machine Gun Funk

So I guess you know the story, the rap-side, crack-side
How I smoked funk, smacked *****es on the backside
Bed-Stuy, the place where my head rests
Fifty shot clip if a ***** wan' test
The rocket launcher, Biggie stomped ya
High as a mother****in helicopter
That's why I pack a nina, **** a misdeameanor
Beatin mother****ers like Ike beat Tina
[What's Love, Got to Do]
when I'm rippin all through your whole crew
Strapped like bamboo, but I don't sling guns
I got bags of funk, and it's sellin by the tons
****** wanna know, how I live the mack life
Making money smoking mics like crack pipes
It's type simple and plain to maintain
I add a little funk to the brain
The funk baby

Or Rakim - Paid In Full

Thinkin of a master plan
Cuz ain't nuthin but sweat inside my hand
So I dig into my pocket, all my money is spent
So I dig deeper but still comin up with lint
So I start my mission- leave my residence
Thinkin how could I get some dead presidents
I need money, I used to be a stick-up kid
So I think of all the devious things I did
I used to roll up, this is a hold up, ain't nuthin funny
Stop smiling, be still, don't nuthin move but the money
But now I learned to earn cos I'm righteous
I feel great! so maybe I might just
Search for a 9 to 5, if I strive
Then maybe I'll stay alive
So I walk up the street whistlin this
Feelin out of place cos, man, do I miss
A pen and a paper, a stereo, a tape of
Me and Eric B, and a nice big plate of
Fish, which is my favorite dish
But without no money it's still a wish
Cos I don't like to dream about gettin paid
So I dig into the books of the rhymes that I made
To now test to see if I got pull
Hit the studio, cos I'm paid in full

I Know You Got Soul

Now I'm a stop to see what you got
Get off the mic before I get too hot
I want to see which posse can dance the best
It should be easy 'cause the beat is fresh
Now if your from Uptown, Brooklyn- bound,
The Bronx, Queens, or Long Island Sound,
Even other states come right and exact,
It ain't where you're from, it's where you're at
Since you came here, you have to show and prove
And do that dance until it don't move
'Cause all you need is soul self-esteem will release,
The rest is up to you, Rakim 'll say peace

I came in the door, i said it before
I never let the mic magnatize me no more
But it's biting me, fighting me, inviting me to rhyme
I can't hold it back, I'm looking for the line,
Taking off my coat, clearing my throat
My rhyme will be kicking it until I hit my last note
My mind'll range to find all kinds of ideas
Self-esteem makes it seem like a thought took years to build
But still say a rhyme after the next one
Prepared, never scared, I'll just bless one
And you know that I'm the soloist
So Eric B, make 'em clap to this

Just stop it man, anything Rakim - you know its the **** man

And yes, Nas has some verses!

I feel my last breath
when will I finaly get to rest from this supression
they punish tha people that's askin questions
and those that possess
steal from tha ones without possesions
tha message I stress
to make it stop
study your lessons
don't settle for less
even tha genius asks questions
be gratifull for blessins
don't ever change
keep your essense
tha powers in tha people and tha politics we address
always do your best
don't let this pressure make ya panic
and when ya get stranded
and things don't go tha way ya planed it
dreaming of richs
in a position of makin' a difference

it wasn't nothin' like tha game
it's just me Against tha World

hmm... i disagree with that, but to each their own.

He's not the best lyrically (i wouldn't even say it's close), but there's something about his songs that make me listen even after almost 15 years since his death. i don't know if it's the person that turns you off of him or what, but if you listen to the song, how the lyrics mesh with his delivery, it's powerful.

Hmm I really don't think you can promise that it's overrated. I'm not really rating it or anything, I just enjoy his music. I guess most of the beats on his songs suit my taste. His lyrics have meaningful words to them. His lyrical skill is very good.

But for example, I felt that his last verse on Me Against the World (quoted above) sums up some real life problems in a realistic tone, but provides encouragement for his listeners to stay positive and better themselves. He does it in a very catchy way with his lyrics and his delivery makes it sound heartfelt and that he is sincere about what he raps about. Hence, I felt it is up there with the greatest verse, personally.

He may not be the best in a lyrical sense, he might not have the best flow, his message might have been said thousands of times before, but his combination of the various facets of hip hop are quite unique and quite up there. Otherwise, he really wouldn't be as big as he is.

I unload with sick spit the quick wick could split a split-second
Bomb with a lit wick expression
You here a tick tick then you testin..
My saliva and spit can split thread into fiber and bits
So trust me, I'm as live as it gets
Everybody claimin they the best and head the throne
Since B.I.G is gone, if you ask me, they +Dead Wrong+
My flow is hotter than the flash from the click
When the hammer slaps the bullet on the ass from the clip
You wind up in a room full of my dawgs
I'll have you feeling like a fire hydrant in a room full of dogs
So come, come now, get pissed on, sh*tted on
Tough talk turns to, "Can't we all just get along"
You get blazed when the mic's off, shot when it's on
You probably ducked when they laid the gun shot in your song
My gun strrr-utters when it speaks to you
Utter sh*t to repeat to you
Nothing the clip, then give a speech to you
Me and Premier, we kind of the same in ways
We both speak with our hands in dangerous ways
Rap now is a circus of clowns
A whole lot of lip from cliques I'd probably rap circles around
I'm the next best to reach a peak formerly known
as the best keep secret, I guess that I just leaked it

Here's another verse that I've always remembered. Someone might've posted it. I remember me and my friends were listening to it for the first time and it got to the Jesus part and we were like "Damn."

Nas - One Mic - http://youtube.com/watch?v=-QB5d0KzrYI

All I need is one blunt, one page, and one pen
One prayer - tell God forgive for one sin
Matter fact maybe more than one, look back
at all the hatred against me, f*ck alla them
Jesus died at age 33, there's thirty-three shots
from twin glocks there's sixteen apiece, that's thirty-two
Which means, one of my guns was holdin 17
Twenty-seven hit your crew, six went into you
Everybody gotta die sometime; hope your funeral
never gets shot up, bullets tear through the innocent
Nothin is fair, n*ggaz roll up, shootin from wheelchairs
My heart is racin, tastin revenge in the air
I let the sh*t slide for too many years, too many times
Now I'm strapped with a couple of macs, too many nines
If y'all n*ggaz really wit me get busy load up the semis
Do more than just hold it explode the clip until you empty
There's nothin in our way - they bust, we bust, they rust, we rust
Led flyin, feel it? I feel it in my gut
That we take these b*tches to war, lie 'em down!
Caue we stronger now my n*gga the time is now!

I always like Biggie's first verse in Victory (2nd verse in the song but his first):

In a Commision, dont ask for permission to hit em
He don't like me, him while wifey was wit em
You heard of us, the murderous, most shady
Been on the low lately, the feds hate me
The son of satan, they say my killin's too blatant
You hesitatin, I'm in your mama crib waitin
Duct tapin, your fam destiny
lays in my hands, gat lays in my waist
Francis, M to the iz-H phenominal
Gun rest under the vest by the abdominal
rhyme a few bars so I can buy a few cars
And I kick a few flows so I can pimp a few hoes
Excellence is my presence, never tense
Never hesitant, leave a ***** bent real quick
Real sick, brawl nights, I perform like Mike
Anyone -- Tyson, Jordan, Jackson
action, pack guns, ridiculous
And I'm, quick to bust, if my ends you touch
Kids or girl you touch, in this world I clutch
Two auto-matoes, used to call me fatso
Now you call me Castro, my rap flows
militant, y'all ******s ain't killin ****
Ooops Cristal keep spillin ****, you overdid it homes
You in the danger zone, you shouldn't be alone
Hold hands and say it like me
The mo shady, Frankie baby, fantastic
Graphic, tryin to make dough, like Jurassic
Parked in quick to spark kids who start ****
See me, only me
The Underboss of this holocaust
Truly yours, Frank White

Deep ish by Mike Shinoda:

Yeah, Yeah
Let me begin by saying
"Shut the f*ck up!"

Let me begin by saying
I don't think this man knew what he had in store
He opened the door and found the bag under the floor
Not a peep, Always working the lot
Get the flame, aim, POP
Open the box and take off
out the back of the pawn shop
Scoping the lot
Hoping the cops hadn't seen the plates on his car
He felt like he been hustling so hard
like a demon he pumped a cold heart
play it cool like Humphrey Bogart
Put the rings on his chain attached by both parts
He did the drop
One ring in a bag
Envelope, all the money he had
Left the money and the ring in a slow exhale
Two weeks went by
Got a box in the mail
In the box was a bullet made of gold
Melted down from the ring,
Recast with two rings and a band
And he stared at it sittin' the palm of his hand
And sat down next to a picture that sat on the nightstand
It was his wife in the picture on his side
With the ring on the finger on the week that she died
As he looked in the reflection, at those eyes so red
He put the bullet in a gun
And put it right in his head
Like that

One of my favorite verses ever + ill hook

Mos Def - First verse on Respiration

The new moon rode high in the crown of the metropolis
Shinin, like who on top of this?
People was tusslin, arguin and bustlin
Gangstaz of gotham, hardcore hustlin
Im wrestlin with words and ideas
My ears is pricked,
Seekin what will transmit
To scribes to apply to transcript, yo
This aint no time where the usual is suitable
Tonight alive, lets describe the inscrutable
The indisputable, (what) we new york the narcotic
Strength in metal and fiber optics
Where mercenaries is paid to trade hot stock tips
For profits, thirsty criminals take pockets
Hard knuckles on the second hands of workin class watches
Skyscrapers is colossus,
The cost of living is preposterous,
Stay alive, you play or die, no options
No batman and robin, cant tell between
The cops and the robbers, they both partners, they all heartless
With no conscience,
Back streets stay darkened
Where unbelieving hearts stay hardened
My eagle talons stay sharpened,
Like city lights stay throbbin
You either make a way or stay sobbin,
The shiny apple is bruised but sweet and if you choose to eat
You could lose your teeth,
Many crews retreat,
Nightly news repeat,
Who got shot down and locked down,
Spotlight the savages, nasdaq averages
My narrative, rose to explain this existance
Amidst the harbor lights which remain in the distance

So much on my mind that I cant recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Heard the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I cant take it yall, I can feel the city breathin
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Sigh before we die like the last train leaving

Every time I hear this song I have to rewind this over and over in mid-verse. Its so much better than the following two verses I barely listen to the rest of the song. Just haunting and incredible.

I seen some cold nights and bloody days
They grab and me bullets spray
They use me wrong so I sing this song 'til this day
My body is cold steel for real
I was made to kill, that's why they keep me concealed
Under car seats they sneak me in clubs
Been in the hands of mad thugs
They feed me when they load me with mad slugs
Seventeen precisely, one in my head
They call me Desert Eagle, semi-auto with lead
I'm seven inches four pounds, been through so many towns
Ohio to Little Rock to Canarsie, livin harshly
Beat up and battered, they pull me out
I watch as ****** scattered, makin me kill
But what I feel it never mattered
When I'm empty I'm quiet, findin myself fiendin to be fired
A broken safety, ****** place me in shelves
under beds, so I beg for my next owner to be a thoroughbred
Keep me full up with hollow heads

[Chorus: Nas (repeat 2X)]

How you like me now? I go blaow
It's that **** that moves crowds makin every ghetto foul
I might have took your first child
Scarred your life, crippled your style
I gave you power
I made you buck wild

[Nas]

[Chorus]

[Nas]
Yo, weeks went by and I'm surprised
Still stuck in the shelf with all the things that an outlaw hides
Besides me it's bullets, two vests and then a nine
There's a grenade in a box, and that tech that kept cryin
Cause he ain't been cleaned in a year, he's rusty as clear
He's bout to fall to pieces, cause of his murder career
Yo, I can hear somebody comin in, open the shelf
His eyes bubblin, he said, "It was on"
I felt his palm troubled him shakin
Somebody stomped him out, his dome was achin
He placed me on his waist, the moment I've been waitin
My creation was for blacks to kill blacks
It's gats like me that accidentally, go off, makin ****** memories
But this time, it's done intentionally
He walked me outside, saw this cat
Cocked me back, said, "Remember me?"
He pulled the trigger but I held on, it felt wrong
Knowing ****** is waiting in hell for 'im
He squeezed harder, I didn't budge, sick of the blood
Sick of the thugs, sick of wrath of the, next man's grudge
What the other kid did was pull out, no doubt
A newer me in better shape, before he lit out, he lead the chase
My owner fell to the floor, his wig split so fast
I didn't know he was hit, it's over with
Heard mad ****** screamin, ****** runnin, cops is comin
Now I'm happy, until I felt somebody else grab me
Damn!

nas purple

Y'all just wanna deal with drama
Talk about ****** who got things, y'all ready to kill his momma
Everything you went to is underworld related
You sell your man out, not even your girl is sacred
You don't trust a soul, hold up, you moldin soldiers
to pull guns quick and always look behind the shoulder
Think of how many dudes died tryin to be down with you
Everybody's under six feet of ground but you
Still standin, still roamin through the streets, that's real
You a survivor, knowin all the beef is ill
You got a bunch of thugs witchu even now that's ready
Trustin your judgment, quick to put it down, they deadly
The hood love you but behind your back they pray for the day
A bullet hit your heart and ambulances take you away
That ain't love it's hate, think of all the mothers at wakes
whose sons you killed, and you ain't got a cut on your face?
Unmarked police cars roam the streets hard, the heat is God
Somebody tell these shorties reach for the stars
Instead they tell 'em how to reach through the bars, holdin a mirror
Lookin down a tear in jail, makin weapons to kill ya
We smoke three tokes ***** pour more Henny
He sighs with eyes that seen a war too many
Cold-blooded murderers, universal
Hood to hood, blowin smoke, state of mind is purple

[Verse 1]
The Anatomy Of A School Shooting, shotgun under my trenchcoat
Columbiners did a deadspoke - bloodred soaked
My mind consume the doom as I walk through the school
15 people killed and over 14 wounded
My name is Eric Harris, I was forever harrased, an outcast
You **** with us and now me and Dylan is pulling out gats
I've been one of the murdered people
Suicide is played out, if you gonna die, take people with you
We've been planning this before the kids from Jonesboro did it
And I wanted the world to know when people died why we did it
I even killed myself but don't feel sorry for me
Feel sorry for your seads as we spread the diesease
Another bloodbath coming soon to a school near you
Smalltime killing-spree that's organized by the youth
**** the media, them **** be disguising the truth
Dragging my name through the mud when televizing the news
A bunch of ticking timebombs y'all, is more like me
Overflowin with hate, bullied to get raw like me
They constantly get picked on and ****ted on like me
You'd probably get your head blown off by a kid like me
I put my mind to it and what I accomplish's frightening
The right thing, no matter what you idiots might think
Check it, I did that **** so idiots might think
This ain't a game, the nerds that you be ****in with might flip

[verse 2]
I see dead people, it isn't my fault that they were evil
**** a favorite I hate everybody equal
***** I warned y'all, didn't I?
Now everybody wanna talk **** and cry asking why
- Two geeks picked up guns and turned murderous
All of y'all under beneath me you don't deserve to live
Two nerdy kids is that a crime?
why I've gotta be one of the cool kids just to walk by
- without being tripped, thrown down on the ground and kicked
Insulting me for no reason, I was treated like ****
The teachers let it happen
I've even seen some of them teachers laughing
That's why I had a smile on my face when I started blastin
I wasn't crazy - all of y'all were sick
I was the nicest person in the world - y'all were *****
Don't even try to analyze me now you have no chanse, back then
- maybe you could've been my friend

ye it aint hard to tell has gotta be up there.

alot of nas and az joints for me, rather unique is a awesome lyrical song

last vers of 2pac me gainst the world, inspirational verse

one of azs best lyrical songs, hard 2 pic a verse

Sugar hill...

I took her off the showroom floor no money down
Near the Chrysler building in the heart of Midtown
200 horse-power under the hood
Junk in the trunk very far from damaged goods
Designer frames with windshields that stay tinted
The most beautiful thing someone invented
Her wrangler had a sticker on the bumper
A sign in case tow trucks tried to dump her
Rear view mirror that of Serena William
Staring was a crime then the look, kill 'em
Brushless showers and the Brazilian wax
Cash in the glove compartment free from tax
Low mileage on the odometer
Graduate with more degrees than a thermometer
Spark plugs for great conversation
She would focus on the finish line and destination
Steering in the right direction
Made sure I wore seat belts had air bags for protection
In her tank she loved to stash my tool
I kept her full, super-unleaded fuel
She had a room full of skirts and rims
The old ones used to swing off ropes that often hung from limbs
A temp at the Ford modeling agency
Suburban area where the Caucasians be
Her great-grandfather was a Cherokee Indian
Explorer and navigator traveling then begin
Sharpening his arrows on Plymouth Rock
Commander-in-chief who raise cattle on the selling of livestock
King of the frontier, rider of thoroughbreds
He was just as sharp as a needle without thread
Legend in truth but known to run the herd
His sons were oldsmobiles who drank thunderbird
Land cruisers sitting on fertile soil
With equipment that ran off expensive oil
Folks bragging said the horse pulled a Volkswagen
They love mustang sally and lollygagging
Fished in Lake Tahoe cooked the barracudas
Hunted impalas with the six-shooters
From a long range with the dog Rover
It was something else to see 'em knock them over

Some got caught in the crossfire
Bunch of rabbits indicating these dudes should retire
One was going bald rocking a sunroof
A gas guzzler and his grill was one tooth
A strong accent, and a beard like Lincoln
Who hated the golf course, but he loved drinking
Avenger, used to pick up chicks
Had magnums that were ram tough but thick
He wore blazers where he used to hide the Ruger
For encounters with the jaguars and cougars
A veteran who could salute and sing the anthem
In accord with the plan he was the phantom
He had a fat lady they called hummer
And umm, she needed body work the whole summer
She had a few friends who used to stay in a pound
Abandoned the parking lots, and junk yard bound
Regulars in rest areas and truck stops
Cassette players, known to make the tape pop
Gold diggers who on the cream like Wells Fargo
In Vegas, they circle around the Monte Carlo
You know the snakes with the fangs and vipers
Bloodsuckers who ???? juice then piss from diapers
Met the Cavaliers at the Outback steakhouse
Chicken cutlets (cutlass) supreme just for takeout
One of them was forced to live in Astoria
'Cause at the auction, they had crowned victoria
Since then her friends charged her battery
Had her running off with the sweets of flattery
She kept a loud muffler, couldn't trust her
Police used to always pull over this duster
A pothead who some called a firebird
A foul mouth, who could have used wiser words
Her man used to hustle and ran a crack corner
So insecure he kept LOJACK on her
Creeping with his visors low, high-beaming
Temper would accelerate, private eye scheming
He would check her consoles for rubbers
She would pass the inspection with flying colors
She would turn left if he said right
On her cycle, he would often run red lights
His voiced echoed as she dodged the convo

-----"PROTOOLS"-----

Her previous owner, all he did was bone her
Some drove her crazy, she was just a loner
He had her leaking transmission fluids
Said it was an accident, didn't mean to do it
No insurance with her grill decayed
She sobbed uncontrollably, still stayed
Another total eclipse so the heart
Like the freezing weather that never gave her a start
Plus he had a sidekick in his garage
If he needed a boost, she would give him a charge
He was sentenced for running an escort service
Escaped from prison but made a few nervous
His baby mother and wife-to-BMW
Number one on the list, so he brought trouble to
She done everything to gain her liberty
Tried to be outty (Audi), but went into delivery
Moved to Aspen, survived a avalanche
A different element, inside a fatter ranch
Far away, when she changed the pattern
The distance was like from Mercury to Saturn

51 cars.

....It shames me to no end,
To feed poison to those who could very well be my kin
But where there's demand, someone will supply
So I feed them their needs at the same time cry
Yes it pains me to see them needness
All of them lost souls and I'm their Jesus
Deepest regret and sympathy to the street
I see no pity for they fix when they kids couldn't eat
And with this in mind, I still didn't quit
And that's how I know, that I aint S H I T
My heart bleed but that's aside from the fact,
I live from my kids and theirs and them youngins after that..

Mos def - Speed Law - both verses can't choose one.

Verse 1

Clear like a megaphone
Pretty ***** heart skipped the metronome
Rocked the Trump Tower to the terrordome
Poor house to pleasure domes
Soprano, alto, tenor to baritone
MOS DEF one of the illest that you ever known
Rock steady baby, you a stepping stone
Smash your foundation into pebbles
My words leave your nerves unsettled
You take it to the next level down
Looking like a circus clown
Cats like you can't even get a pound
Worldwide from the river to lakeside
My stage show stay live, make the sound man stage dive
I cut fat cats to eight lives with my eight ball lines
I'm home 'fore I'm done with all nine
Got you shook like a fault line
Come all shine and get tarnished
Brooklyn got your pay roll garnished
They form a huddle
Whisper like they want trouble
I melt the ice grills into rainwater puddles
Make the proud-hearted leave on the humble
Black steel in the hour
Assemble my skill form my power
My poems crush bones into powder
You mumble like a coward
I'm Mos Def, you need to speak louder
SUPER HEREOS!
Get your power, your masks and capes snatched
Brooklyn take what you can't take back
I know a lot of cats hate that
All I can say black
There's a city full of walls you can post complaints at
All the doubters and believers adjust your receivers
"I feel it," you can taste it through the speakers
The three six oh-riginal sketch lyrics so visual
They rent my rhyme books at your nearest home video

Verse 2

My joint's so passionate
Make you peal out and mash your ****
Get wild cold crash your whip
Front chassis wrecked, but ock you can't be too upset
Tow truck got my tape in the deck
I'm permanent like tattoos and birth marks
Third degree burn marks
Driving on tracks like Dale Earnheart
Stay on the low like the earth spot
Put a big loss on your earn chart
Nice since the nurse signed my birth chart
Seldom seen but often heard, while your jams is barely heard
Just my name is a daily word
From avenues to streets, terraces and park places
Stair wells, jail cells, penthouse to basements
Arrangement basic, but still fans chase it
Y2K can't delete the true ancient
Apache war drum on the ranges
Skill level dangerous
Arrow head that killed all the cavemen
They cry John-Blazing, but step on the pavement
And get violated like a plaintiff
I ain't **** to play with
I give a Goddamn what your name is
Delete it and make it so it never get repeated
Believe it
Tell the feds, tell your girl, tell your mother
Conference call you wack crew and tell each other
That they just ain't holding me
I'm Mos Def, your hopefully
Mush off or you get bust off like a ovary

Some ridiculous lines in there.

Time for an update!!!

Since Feb of 09, what new arrivals do we have?

#1.

Jay-z on Murder to Excellence:

"It’s a celebration of black excellence
Black tie, black Maybachs
Black excellence, opulence, decadence
Tuxes next to the president, I’m present
I dress in Dries and other boutique stores in Paris
In sheepskin coats, I silence the lambs
Do you know who I am Clarice?
No cheap cologne whenever I “shh-shh”
Success never smelled so sweet, I stink of success
The new black elite, they say my black card bear the mark of the beast
I repeat, my religion is the beat
My verse is like church, my Jesus piece, now please, domino, domino
Only spot a few blacks the higher I go
What’s up to Will, shoutout to O
That ain’t enough, we gon’ need a million more
Kick in the door, Biggie flow
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go"

Why it's great to me: The amount of alliteration involved in this verse have always stuck out to while he's going in on the Excellence part of song. For all of America's faults, social mobility isnt one of them and Jay has taken full advantage of it.

http://youtu.be/3yn5qj1pCj4?t=2m40s

#2.

Jay-Z on Thank You

"I was gonna kill a couple rappers
But they did it to themselves
I was gon' do it with the flow
But they did it with their sales
I was gon' 9/11 'em, but they didn't need the help
And they did a good job them boys is talented as hell
Cuz not only did they brick they put a building up as well
They ran a plane into that building and when that building fell
Ran to the crash site with no masks and inhaled
Toxins deep inside their lungs until both of them was filled
Blew a cloud out like a L into a jar then took a smell
Cuz they heard that second hand smoke kills
N*ggas thought they was ill found out they was...ILL
And it's like you knew exactly how I wanted you to feel"

Why its great to me: This is just sick....he's basically shitting on his competition's graves in this verse. God damn...I know, I'm dickriding but let me live here.

#3

Jay-Z on Rick Ross' Freemason featuring John Legend

"N*ggas couldn’t do nothing with me they put the devil on me
I would have preferred if n*ggas would squeeze the metal on me
Rumors of Lucifer, I don’t know who to trust
Whole world want my demise, turn my music up
Here me clearly
If y’all n*ggas fear me, just say y’all fear me
Fvck all these fairy tales, go to hell this is God engineering
This is a Hail Mary pass, y’all interfering
He without sin shall cast the first stone
So y’all check in the mirror, double check your appearance
Bitch I said I was amazing
Not that I’m a Mason
It’s amazing that I made it through the maze that I was in
Lord forgive me I never would’ve made it without sin
Holy Water, my face in the basin
Diamonds in my rosary shows he forgave him
B*tch I’m red hot, I’m on my third six but the devil, I’m not
My Jesus piece flooded but thou shall not covet
Keep your eyes off my cupboard
I’m a bad motherfvcker, it’s Hov just say you love it "

http://youtu.be/8ibQxjHooXc?t=1m40s

Just listen to that shit:bowdown:

I'm fully convinced that Jay is just getting complacent on his projects because when he goes in, he's dropping some of the best verses of his career these days.

Cormega - Verbal Graffiti

I'm like a panther in the dark silent when I strike the paper
Like a dagger in your heart when I write I leave a mark
I seen a narc before they even bark
Told son, "Leave the block" get that money upstairs
In case the currency is marked

Beat a man who plot against me, God forgive me
My enemies die in the street and my heat is empty
Coindentally the same fate was meant for me
My AK's my lawyer when it's on, it represent for me

Vacate the sentence case acquitted when your face get splitted
I stay spittin' with grace, chain glistenin'
Gray timberlands, my ****** face predicaments
But we could either live, die, or face imprisonment take a hit of this

Uncut raw, a taste will numb your jaw
My rhyme is on consignment just in case you wanted more
Lyrics are furious, I reign imperious
****** ain't ****in' with me son, I'm dead serious

Streets personify me like heat I keep beside me
Either I be, the most underrated lyrical
Drug related ***** who gun be blazin' in the projects
A prosperous drug block is subject to conquest

Where I'm from a fiend is selling heated for five jungs
Dealers scatter when D's or Y come
R.I.P. is written on walls for people who die young
And ****** either dream of B-balling, or to be balling

Sometimes it's hard for me to write, 'Son, the streets calling'
Patience is a virtue, temptation I'll hurt you
And sentence to a bid, your fake friends will desert you
Til' you're assed out screaming life's a bitch that burnt you
I don't expect a fake ***** to feel this
Look in my eyes, stare at the realness

I was corrupted by drug supply, fly kicks and buckin' nines
Looking up at the skies thinking I'm too young to die
Thoughts are conquering though we were taught not to sin
Supreme court and death got a ***** losing lots of friends

My pen's immortal like mommy in heaven no man can harm you
An army of angels with true love is there to guard you
Tell my dog blue, I love him like a brother the deep shit
Three bricks remain uncovered the industry didn't want me in
And they try to condemn me

Sprewell of rap, they even try to suspend me
Yet a thug ***** rise people are snakes, and justice is blind
My jury is my gun at my side,
Son I write with the trifeness engraved enticing

Curse the shots that left big and pac lifeless
The realness some try to conceal this
Despite that fact, ****** can't match my lyrical illness
I'm a key you three grams with cut in it

If you want it I don't give a ****, *****
Rapper slash drug dealer, slash I bust my gun, *****
Slash your face with a rug, *****
What's the meaning?

Big Pun - Dream Shatterer

Aiyyo I shatter dreams like Jordan, assault and batter your team
Your squadron'll be barred from rap like Adam & Eve from the garden
I'm carvin my initials on your forehead
So every night before bed you see the "BP" shine off the board head
Reverse that, I curse at the first wack ***** with the worst rap
cause he ain't worth jack
Hit him with a thousand pounds of pressure per slap
Make his whole body jerk back, watch the earth crack
hand him his purse back
I'm the first Latin rapper to baffle your skull
Master the flow, ****** be swearin I'm blacker than coal
Like Nat King, I be rappin and tounge's packin
The ones, magnums, cannons and gatling guns
It's Big Pun! The one and only son of Tony... Montana
You ain't promised manana in the rotten manzana
C'mon pana we be mob rhymers
Feel the marijuana, snake bite, anaconda
A man of honour wouldn't wanna try to match my persona
Sometimes rhymin I blow my own mind like Nirvana
Comma, and go the whole nine like Madonna
Go try to find another rhymer with my kinda grammar

[Chorus]
When you awaken, your manhood'll be taken
Fakin like you Satan when I'm the rhymin abomination

[repeat Chorus]

[Big Pun]
I'm pure adrenaline, uncut, straight to the gut, medicine
Raw cure for pain I coat your brain like polyurethane
Simple and plain, I'll explain it in layman terms
If you came to learn how to make fire, I'ma make it burn!
Higher and hotter than lava this scholar advisor is smart as MacGyver
To put honor inside the heart of a liar
involved in a life of crime (crime!) **** it I like the shine (shine!)
Up in the white and lime (lime!) Comes with the pipe design
Plushed out! (No doubt!) Both pockets about to bust out
If you not in it for the spinach, GET THE **** OUT!
Take a hike, we can even battle to make it right
Go 'head lace the mic, you finished? Say good night
Head to head in the street, I'll leave you dead in your feet
Settlin beef, I'll even let you rhyme to the Benjamin beat
But it won't matter, you dreams still gon' shatter
It's a long ladder to climb, and mine is known to stagger
So get outta town, 'fore I hit you with the loudest sound
you ever heard; desert bird player you outta bounds

[Chorus - 3X]

[Big Pun]
You know the Pun'll diss you if your whole steez is unofficial
I'll come and get you and let the desert eez tounge kiss you
With one pistol and two clips, I'll make your crew do flips
like acrobatics, I'm charismatic, my gat is magic
It makes rappers disappear, whipser in your ear
Crystal clear, come here, let me kiss your tears
Everything you fear is here, you ain't got to search further
The first murder's the worst, now I thirst further
for reverse birth, every verse hurts, every curse word's
already more offending than Eddie Murph's worst
I thirst for blood like a vampire
Any man claimin his game's tighter - IS A GOD DAMN LIAR!
I set him on fire, retire your train of thought
Drain a quart of blood out your brain and leave you insane in the dark
The king of New York! Lays his crown in the Boogie Down
And sprays the town, with a Mac hoodied down
I'm no joke! I soak your face with a sweeper
Die in disgrace, or face your death through the speaker

Who's verse was better lyrically in Triumph over the Rebel INS's? Please don't say Method Man's pathetic shit LOL.

As the world turns, I spread like germs
Bless the globe with the pestilence, the hard-headed never learn
It's my testament to those burned
Play my position in the game of life, standin firm
on foreign land, jump the gun out the fryin pan, into the fire
Transform into the Ghostrider, a six-pack
and (A Streetcar Named Desire), who got my back?
In the line of fire holdin back, what?
My peoples if you with me where the **** you at?
****** is strapped, and they tryin to twist my beer cap
It's court adjourned, for the bad seed from bad sperm
Herb got my wig fried like a bad perm, what the blood
clot, we smoke pot, and blow spots
You wanna think twice, I think not
The Iron Lung ain't got ta tell you where it's coming from
Guns of Navarone, tearing up your battle zone
Rip through your slums

... and I like Method Man ... overall, I'm a fan, but they cut GZA's verse wayyyyy short, and give all the extra "rhyme time" to everyone else, including this whack shit?

GZA - Animal Planet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5po9yBrwz8)

The rat squeals
And the polar bear feasts on the blubber of seals
The pack of wolves be scheming on a bunch of gazelles
Where the leopards grab the wilderbeast down by it's tail
You see the chimps they grow *hemp* they hustle and sling in trees
Elephants for security that move tons of leaves
The bluebirds arrest parrots that love to talk
of eagles that stalk fresh-water trout under the wing of the hawk
You see the vultures pick the pocket of whatever remain
In the brain we watch but a shadow of the lion's mane
Whose roar is loud enough to take the stripes from a zebra
He camouflage his bets in the spots of a cheetah
Shouldn't gamble with a cheetah and not expect to get beat
You silly goose you know he move fast on his feet
Now you're neck deep in depth with a bunch of lone sharks
So you move on a colony of ants with aardvarks, you see
Most of the everglades was controlled by the gators
It was crashed by the crocs who came years later
See the locusts had swarmed with the bees
the tick moved with the fleas
The dragonflies and the wasps shared with the seas
The crab and the leeches sucked your blood flow
And they laugh like hyenas when they out to catch dough
See a million mosquitos from the West Nile
Carrying the virus that made the boars less wild

[Hook x4 : GZA]
It's like the jungle sometimes

[GZA]
Out of fear of the deer watch for the eye of the tiger
The Clutch from the Cobra and the venomous viper
Boa-constrictors that cut your circulation
Mosts of their prey die from broke bones and suffocation
The owls are private eyes that watch from the bark
Black panthers are the militant who strike in the dark
Porcupines had a rep' for sticking everything that moved
In areas that the rhinos and hippos approved
And the giraffe was a look-out for gorillas in the mist
And the bats use their sonar to guide and assist
Those pelicans who smuggle contraband for the whale
While the skunks spray the scent to keep the dogs off the trail
The scorpion set up a sting for sly foxes
that use stool pigeons just to keep them in the boxes
While the black widow laid a web for the bachelor
like daddy-long-leg and his hype man, tarantula
They both prey on grasshoppers beetles and flies
And they all become instant meals the moment it dies
What costs little, is a little worth
so some lose they lives wandering on the wrong turf
From birth they grow up walking the thin line
It's like the jungle sometimes

Killah Hills 10304 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gLP8rz3lGg)

Restaurants on a stake-out
So order the food to take out
Chaos, outside a spark steakhouse
Maintain the power, I feel the deal's gone sour
***** Mr. Wedding, late a ****in half hour
And his man who bought land from Tony Starks
While he was contractin bricklayin jobs in city parks
he's a loan shark, bitches raise a grand to a finger
In a garment that's stretched, got it sewn like Singer
Cause all that talk blasphemy this kid after me
for the heist, in a Burlington Coat Factory
**** it, he turned snake so my ***** Cash stole his copilot
who used to drive like sacks of blow on this remote
area, we label Dead Man's Island
Two hundred miles South from Thailand
Right off the docks, I got the various custom made yachts
Burial plots, for my ****** hit with fatal shots
There's no need for us to spray up the scene
I use less men, more powerful shit for my team
Like my man Muhammad from Afghanistan
Grew up in Iran, the ***** runs a neighborhood newsstand
A wild Middle Eastern, bomb specialist
Intiated, at eleven to be a terrorist
He set bombs in bottles of champagne
And when ****** popped the cork, ****** lost half they brains
Like this ex-worker, tried to smuggle a half a key
in his left leg, even underwent surgery
They say his pirate limp gave him away
As the feds rushed him, comin through U.S. Customs
Now look whose on the witness stand singin, a well known soprano
A smash hit from Sammy Gravano
here's the plan minimum for the hit, two hundred grand
Half time at the game blastin ****** out the stands
The sharp-shooters hit the prosecutor, judges are sent
Photographs of they wives takin baths
Along with briefcase filled with one point five, that's the bribe
Take it or commit suicide
First rule, anyone who schemes on the gold in Syria
I want they small intestines ripped from the interior
I got a price for those jewels, ship em freight cargo
Don't forget to launder the cream through Wells Fargo
Reconstruct those processin plants for the call of Costa Rica
Four hundred barrels of ether
Two hundred pounds of reefer
and fifty immigrants with fake Visas

:biggums: @ bolded
So much greatness in this verse from Sammy the bull snitching to Feds booking someone smuggling drugs in a wooden leg and everything in between.

Immortal Technique- Industrial Revolution

I won fifty three million dollars for my collar stand
like the Bush administration gave to the Taliban
and **** packing grams *****, learn to speak and behave
you wanna spend twenty years as a government slave
two million people in prison keep the government paid
stuck in a six by eight cell alive in the grave
I was made by revolution to speak to the masses
deep in the club toast the truth, reach for the glasses
I burn an orphanage just to bring heat to you bastards
innocent deep in a casket, Colombian fashion
intoxicated off the flow like thugs passion
you mother****ers will never get me to stop blastin'
your better off asking Ariel Sharon for compassion
your better off beggin for twenty points from a label
your better off battling cancer under telephone cabels
Technique chemically unstable, set to explode
foretold by the dead sea scrolls written in codes
so if your message ain't shit, **** the records you sold
'cause if you go platinum, it's got nothing to do with luck
it just means that a million people are stupid as ****
stuck in the underground in general and rose to the limit
without distribution managers, a deal, or a gimmick
Revolutionary Volume 2, murder the critics
and leave your ****ing body rotten for the roaches and crickets

True, dunno how i forgot about 4th Chamber (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXIGIKBnh80&feature=fvst)

The banks of G, all CREAM downs a vet
Money feed good, opposites off the set
It ain't hard to see, my seeds need God-degree
I got mouths to feed, unnecessary beef is more cows to breed
I'm on some tax free shit by any means
Whether bound to hit scheme or some counterfeit CREAM
I learned much from such with cons who run scams
Veterans got the game spiced like ham
And from that, sons are born and guns are drawn
Clips are fully loaded, and then blood floods the lawn
Disciplinary action was a fraction of strength
that made me truncate the length one tenth
Woofers stomp, tweeters hiss like air pumps
RZA shaved the track, ****** caught razor bumps
Scarred tryin to figure who invented
this unprecented, opium-scented, dark-tinted
Now watch me blow him out his shoes without clues
Cuz I won't hesitate to detonate, I'm short fuse

but 7th Chamber (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIwFwh57__U) is pretty nice as well

My my my
My Clan is thick like plaster
Bust ya, slash ya
Slit a ***** back like a Dutch Master Killer
Style jumped off and Killa, Hill-er
I was the thriller in the Ali-Frazier Manilla
I came down with phat tracks that combine and interlock
Like getting smashed by a cinder block
Blaow! Now it's all over
****** seeing pink hearts, yellow moons
orange stars and green clovers

Nevertheless GZA is the Mariano Rivera of Rap nobody closes better.

Understand, New York City respects my game like Joe Namath
And I protect my name like your anus, In prison

Y'all just wanna shine Y'all just wanna glisten
Floss, knowing that the soul is still missing
(Who am I?) Im the poetical pastor

Still get it poppin' without artist & repertoire
Cause Monch is a monarch only minus the A&R
When my brain excels, your train derails
Pop shit, make you feel the Clipse like Pharrell

Like 3-4 lines a song he slides in something I remember for 10 years.

Breathe easy, relax....Mac like Fleetwood

I taught 'em bout fish scale they want me to fish for them
They want me to catch clean, then cook up a dish for them
All of this just for them, or they got a diss for him
They want me to disappear, like it's gonna SHIFT for them
They say that I'm in the way, they want me to sit with them
But what they admitting is, they ain't got shit for him
But really the fact is, we not in the same bracket
Not in the same league, don't shoot at the same baskets
Don't pay the same taxes, hang with the same bitches
So how am I in the way, what is it I'm missing?
***** I been missing, ***** I been gone
The shit that you just witnessed is the shit that I been on
And as for the critics, tell me I don't get it

But I mastered the drought, what the **** I'm an animal

I'm in the hall already, on the wall already

I done cooked up the Roc already
So why the **** can't you all get hot already (already)
Put your name in the pot already, ****** compare me to Biggie and Pac already

Eat food already, ain't nothing given you gotta claim your shoes already,

R.A. The Rugged Man- Uncommon Valor (2nd Verse) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IbitVPIRwc)

True story...
Call me Thorburn, John A. Staff Sergeant, Marksman
Skilling, killing, illing
I'm able and willing
Kill a village elephant, rapin' and pillage your village
Illegitimate killers, US Military guerillas
This ain't a real war, Vietnam shit
World War II, that's a war, this is just a military conflict
Soothing, drug-abusing, Vietnamese women screwing
Sex, scampling and booze, and all the shit is amusing
Bitches and guns, this is every man's dream
I don't want to go home, where I'm just a ordinary human being
Special OP, Huey chopper gun shit, run shit
Gook run when the mini-gun spit, won't miss, kill shit
Spit four-thousand bullets a minute
Victor-Charlie, hit trigger, hit it
I'm in it to win it, get it
The lieutenant hinted the villain, I've ended up killing
I did it, cripple, did it, pictures I painted is vivid, live it
A wizard with weapons, a secret mission we about to begin it
Government funded, behind enemy lines bullets is spraying
It's heating up, a hundred degrees
The enemy's the North Vietnamese, bitch please
Ain't no sweat, I'm told "be at ease"
Until I see the pilot got hit, and we about to hit some trees
till the rotor broke, crash land, American man
Cambodia, right in the enemy hand
Take a swig of the whiskey to calm us
Them yellow men wearing black pajamas
They want to harm us
They all up on us
Bang, bang, bullet hit my chest, feel no pain
To my left, the captain caught a bullet right in his brain
Body parts flying, loss of limbs, explosions
Bad intentions, I see my best friend's intestines
Pray to the one above, It's raining and I'm covered in mud
I think I'm dying, I feel dizzy, I'm losing blood
I see my childhood, I'm back in the arms of my mother
I see my whole life, I see Christ, I see bright lights
I see Israelites, Muslims and Christians at peace, no fights
Blacks, Whites, Asians, people of all types
I must have died, then I woke up, suprised I'm alive
I'm in a hospital bed, they rescued me, I survived
I escaped the war, came back
But ain't escape Agent Orange, two of my kids born handicapped
Spastic, quadriplegic, micro cephalic
Cerebral palsy, cortical blindness, name it they had it
My son died he ain't live, but I still try to think positive
Cause in life, God take, God give

Canibus-Poet Laureate II (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iUWGhnqBxM)

This is the line of will, the circle of time
the cycle of eternity, the emergence of 1 mind
Academic phonetics render critics tongue-tied
Ive personified dry humor of ***-laude alumni
A wise man sees failure as progress
a fool divorces his knowledge and misses the logic
And loses his soul in the process
obsessed with nonsense with a caricature that has no content
My style is masterful, multi-lateral
I could battle a fool and be naturally cruel
Words of scourn are a disastrous tool
from an existentialist view, I'm a better rapper then you
Grab the mic and rip your physical fabric in 2
my attitude is ****ed up but admirable
Different methods interpreted into different forms
from entirely different perceptions and seen from different norms
Not just spittin a poem there's much more involved
there's much more pieces of the puzzle for you to solve
48 orders of mechanical laws
and rays of creational cause, enhance the cadence of my bars
Maybe I am self-absorbed
but that's the effect, to find the cause you should ask my A&R
Today is what it is, but only because yesterday was what it was
permitting you heard of Beelzebub
A tale of demons and drugs, pissy drunk in the club
with the DJ doing the needle rub
Chances are you'll never see me son
yeah I know my names Canibus but I cant help you if you need a dub
I came to holla at some big booty bitches
and listen to the speakers thump, where you get conceited from?
I'm so nice on the mic, they wanna beat me up
its deep as ****, I ain't seen it all but I've seen enough
Really unbelievable stuff
there's a lot of times where I wanna speak but I'm stuck
I should leave this rap shit alone
and kick my incredible rhymes in the privacy of my own home
My imagination is my own
the liberty to speak freely, lyrically on the microphone
Wit a pen in my hand, I bring motion to the enneagram
and become "Cani-millenium man"
Engrave my back with the emperor's stamp
been spittin scientific rap since the 17th century began
Tryna' escape the wicked empire of Def Jam
and the land where lyrics are bland and heretics hang
Every warrior has an axe to bury
but he has to learn to discern between enemy and adversary
I said to myself, "Germaine this is insane
its suicide its controlled flight into terrain"
I fought to regain, control of the plain, but went up in a ball of flames
and got banned from the hip hop hall of fame
For 2 bars I kept hearin in my head
over and over again, it cost me everything
I'm convinced now that more then truth is at stake
Where people create language that pretends to communicate
Euphemisms are misunderstood as mistakes
but its a bi-product of the ghetto music we make
From an extroverted point of view I think its too late
Hip Hop has never been the same since '88
Since it became a lucrative profession there's a misconception
that a movement in any direction is progression
Even though of the potency of it lessens
big money industries writing checks to suppress the question
And nobody gives a **** no more, no one goes to the book store
ever since the confluence of Moore's Law
But I stay in the lab, like Niels Bohr
and his son Aage, Edward Lorenz and Leo Szilard
Lyrically I took rap music and turned the knob
to the right full throttle and added panache
Why would I argue with my own conscience over the truth?
that's like me telling myself don't tell me what to do
Dialysis and analysis of battle emcees
sometimes I say things I myself can't believe
My lyrical is so skillfully elliptical
I can understand how it makes you miserable
You wonder why I never let you play your beats for me
or why I keep my studio enshrouded in secrecy
You wonder what's my infatuation with Alicia Keys
"Canibus why don't you speak to me?"
Yo, I meant it when I said no one can shine on a song that features me
that's why I said it so vehemently
You need to place the hate with respect
I'm probably the best yet, POET LAUREATE

Uncommon Valor ... shit is the sickness.

:applause:

I can't believe I didn't think of that one off the top of my head. Easily "one of the best spit" verses of all time, and lyrically it's up there too. RA's flow and delivery complements Stoupe's beat perfectly. A genuine masterpiece.

Pharoahe Monch - Black Hand Side
[QUOTE]Pharoahe's a Navajo chief, the way I'm making it rain
But never for a stripper with emotional pain
You wouldn't despite system nourishment for the brain
Cause rain plus soil equal fruits and grains
My hood told a *****: keep it simple and plain
Let me explain the game, break it down a couple levels like Tetris
These young'ns kill they own blood for a necklace
Leave slumped over the wheel of your Lexus
Smoke kush, wake up and eat breakfast
What the **** he expect
A generation overly obsessed with mobsters
Our revolutionaries won Grammys and Oscars
Impostors, fake auras and weak chakras
Makin' a mockery of the music to be pop stars
And they say I
