View Full Version : Devin Harris The World
http://www.nba.com/video/channels/allstar/2009/02/14/nba_20090214_harris_record.nba/index.html
It’s official. The Guiness Book of World Records has certified it. Devin Harris is the world’s fastest man with a basketball. Harris broke the record for the fastest dribble from baseline-to-baseline during the East All-Stars’ practice on Saturday, running the court in 3.9 seconds. Harris also finished second in the PlayStation Skills Challenge to the Bulls’ Derrick Rose. Missing a couple of jump shots near the end slowed him down.

I just wanted to make it known

The world's fastest man with a basketball...because no one else cared enough to try.
Guarantee there are faster players.

Exactly. If Monta, Derrick Rose TJ Ford, AI, Barbosa, LeBron, or others had of tried, they probably could have broke the record.

I don't think LeBron is but I see Ford, Barbosa, AI, Monta and Rose

3.9, that's really quick. Now that it's a record, I'm sure someone can beat that. Barbosa, maybe?

I don't know, lebron is pretty scary in the open court. And his strides are also a lot longer than those other players, so who knows...

Just to fuel this thread...Devin Harris' 3/4 court sprint for the draft measurements was 3.19.
For comparison purposes...
Nate Robinson ran it in 2.96
Derrick Rose did it in 3.05
Russell Westbrook did it in 3.08
Obviously this doesn't directly correlate to running the full court while keeping a dribble, but it's good info to look at nonetheless. An interesting factor here though - Dwight Howard ran it in 3.14

i read a sports journalist report that most teams timed one or two of their fastest players and it was only the fastest of all finishers that even bothered to try in phoenix.
so you guys appear to be busted-- devin harris really is the fastest man with a basketball. at least this year. i'm sure the record will be quickly broken, but he beat everyone else in the NBA this year.
also, if you watched the video, he got off to a mistimed start.
so i'm sure his best time is considerably faster than 3.9

yeah i heard parker say this when he was interviewed but why? It's highly unlikely he would get injured in the process
He set the record, he didn't break it.
So I expect it to be broken pretty soon.

I think Patrick Mills could beat that time.
For those that don't know who Mills is, he is the point guard for St. Mary's and the Australian Olympic Team. If you saw his performance against Deron and CP3, you'll know why.

I believe Harris could have done it faster if he had not of slowed up at the end. I'll put every dime I have on the fact he's the fastest player in the league on breakaways. Have all the haters even watched a Nets game before?

That man is FAST as lightning. He'd be a good WR in the NFL. :)

...and this is why Pops is the best coach in the league.
Tony Parker could beat that time easily.
That man is FAST as lightning. He'd be a good WR in the NFL. :)
Based on what? You realize what it takes to be a WR? Obviously not. You probably think Usain Bolt would be an elite WR too huh? :oldlol:
