Basically he caught the ball one dribble (i think) got to about half court, it was stripped, then he caught it and flung it up in one motion, milliseconds before the clock ran out. Incredibly lucky, but a crazy ending to the game nonetheless.

This was a ugly win though. Vince was off again, Harris made some really bad plays at the end of the game and all hope seemed to be lost. Then Harris hits a prayer. Im not denying it, it was probably the luckiest half courter ever. But hey a wins a win, I'll take it.

Because the first shot attempt when he was trying to draw a foul was deflected by Iguodala. Devin then took the ball and flung it.

No travel.

Wow. :oldlol: It's the fact that he bobbled it right before the shot that makes it so improbable, more so than the distance and shot itself. How stupid does that defender have to be to be playing Harris so closely with 1.8 seconds left? Terrible defense; he's lucky he didn't get called for a foul on the shot attempt.

Well, I wouldn't call that fould to decide the game, but I certainly wouldn't say it "wasn't even close to fouling"... Iggy slapped him across the arms... didn't get any ball at all...

Yet the refs called a ticky tack foul on Devin on the previous play to send Andre to the line to decide the game.

Devin was fouled on that play-- I was angry that the refs wouldn't call it there but would call it when Andre made his move. Fate sealed the deal though.

I never got a good look at the replay, but it didn't seem like it was noteworthy of a call. Especially when Devin did not get the same ticky-tack call at the end there. Or when Vince made that layup over Dalembert. They're all just touch fouls really that could go either way, but seems as if Philly was getting more breaks than we were. Well atleast when Violet Palmer was involved. How she has a job still, I don't know. She's terrible.

His arm was grabbed on the move. Ball went up in the air. He was fouled. But he took 2 steps when going in for the layup, then an extra step into the spin move. Should have just been Nets ball. Probably would have been OT that way too.

I would've preferred that then. For some reason I didn't want that game to end, though it led beautifully into the Kansas-OU game.

I cannot BELIEVE some people are saying that a foul should have been called on the last play. Under 2 seconds left, you have absolutely no choice but to heave a desperation shot from behind mid-court - and you expect the refs to bail you out? When does that even happen??

Iggy defended the play pretty much perfectly. Just stayed in front of Harris and didn't jump. It was just one of those shots where there isn't even any skill involved, just pure luck - the ball might just as well have hit the top of the backboard. Unbelievable.

Hold up... didn't he travel before the shot?

If he lost possession of the ball because Iggy touched it, it wasn't a travel. But DID Iggy touch it or was it due to Harris looking for contact (there wasn't any) and a bailout call?

Extremely hard to tell even from the slo-mo.

TheGame
02-24-2009, 03:00 AM
No, he didn't travel he shot the ball and it was blocked which sent it back to him and he shot it again. The sequence of movements was very fast so I can easily understand why some people think it's a travel.

ZOMG

the ball was knocked out of his hands.

I dunno. I just watched the replay again and it looks more and more like nobody but Harris touched the ball on the play. He knew he basically had zero chance of getting a good shot off with Iggy right in front of him, so he tried to draw contact and go for an "offensive flop".

To Devin's suprise, however, Iggy kept just enough distance not to give the refs any excuse for blowing the whistle, which is what you try to do in that situation. So he just grabbed the ball again and heaved it.

I'm calling it a flop and a travel by Harris.

He tried to draw the foul yes, but the ball clearly bounced off of Igoudala's hand at about the 35 second mark of the video. It wasn't a travel, but the clock did start late.

02-24-2009, 09:04 AM
I don't the clock started late enough for anyone to get terribly pissed about that. It might have changed the call at the end, but by the slightest of margins. Harris got hacked too, so I think we're even.

Please, if the refs were going to let the game decided on a foul--Iguodala was called for a light touch foul before that WHILE also a traveling NO CALL was made, the Nets deserved the same sort of calls on the other end. Just cause it was a desperation half court heave does not make it not a no call. Watch the previous play of the game with Iggy traveling and getting called for a touch foul and then come back to us and ask us if we believed we should've gotten the same treatment.

If you cannot "BELIEVE" we are asking for a foul I cannot "BELIEVE" you're not willing to take a look at the entire context of the game and how it was being called.

Iguodala CLEARLY touched the ball right before Devin shot it. If you cannot see it, you're blind, and you should seriously shut up.

Stop being a sore loser and admit defeat. It's one thing to b*tch about a debatable call, it's another to b*tch about something so damn obvious that we all know you're in denial.
