IRA pride?? That is the same as saying Hamas pride you damn terrorist. I'm guessing you're not really Irish from Ireland as a real Irish dude wouldn't go around saying retarded phrases like IRA pride, and yes everyone knows you were talking about the Irish Republican Army, are you aware of the many atrocities and acts of terrorism the IRA has taken part in in the past 30 years? And how many innocents they killed?

For middle eastern terrorists they fall back and say its a holy war. Im just supporting a close cousin who was affiliated with said group at the cost of his life. And yes in fact, im a first generation american. So you are indeed correct that I have no claim to my home country and that im simply assimilated into the damn melting pot known as America.
Now lets not kid ourselves, America is the BEST place to live and work and worship and everybody (yep, me too... the "damn terrorist) knows it.

In short, yes.
haha... this is actually rather funny. Im enjoying myself here at the expense of my "e-rep"... now supposing that the Feds dont come and bust my door down later tonight because they are smart enough to know when sombody is just mentioning a terrorist group in order to poke fun at general racial/ethnic "pride" then I should be good.

When did Ireland ever bring England to it's knee's, Ireland's history involves getting it's ass kicked by England, England sending a bunch of Irish as slaves to Barbados to pick tobacco, and then England feeling bad for Ireland and letting them become their own nation. All Ireland did was cheaply and cowardly bomb English civillians. Ireland never brough England to it's knees bozo. I take great offence at that. You are cleary a very ignorant person.
The British government admitted in 2007 that it could not defeat the IRA. The IRA brought about the British Armies biggest single losses since 1959 in Iran.
And cowardly? Fighting for what you beleive in?
I'll tell you what cowardly, the B-Specials and Ulster Defence AND the British Army killing innocent Catholic women and children because they couldn't get to the IRA. Or how about murdering people as they bury those who fought fo their freedom? Or attacking towns after the IRA agree to put Arms down?
Rough approximations suggest 60% of all IRA victims were British Amry ect.
The British Army only killed around 20 IRA officers. 20. That's it.
I'm not condoning the IRA in any way, killing innocent people is never right. But they were clearly fighting for what was right. The Northern Irish Catholic's were being opressed. They fought back, firstly only attacking the military. But then the British Army got annoyed because they couldn't beat the IRA (as they later admitted) and started killing women and children. Only then did the IRA respond with it's civillian campaign.
The IRA is widely considered as one of the most sucessfull and effiecent guerilla army's ever. Hardly cheap or cowardly IMO.
That's just my opinion, i'm sorry if i've offended anyone but you just struck a nerve, with me being a Catholic and having see the consequences of it all.

Lived in a town where approximately 64-75% possessed the sangre of de Ireland or of the boot. Ireland is literally a joke in respect to the rest of the world, and few people carry on Italy's glorious Roman days or the ways of the Sicilian. I'd take Italy over these cultures (Africa really is a huge generalization) most any day. Italy has contributed much more to the world's culture via its artists, and their food is better. Arabic culture, if we include the Muslim Empires of old have a lot ot be proud about, and so do Asians (both types, South and East).

You do realise that I'm not talkigng about the Modern Troubles, I'm talking about the War of Independence, which set the wheels in motion for the destruction of the British Empire?
I really don't know where your getting the idea that the British sent a quarter of our population to Barbados, cause frankly, that never happened.
Oliver Cromwell pillaged the defenceless town of Drogheda, killing and raping along the way. Sounds a bit cowardly to me?
Yes, Ireland suffered greatly during the potato famine. Mainly because of the sheer misfortune of the potato blight, but also due to:
1)Englands refusal to send any meaningful aid to Ireland.
2)The Penal laws which has caused a huge split in Irish society, which led to Irish Catholics being unable to earn a decent wage and being treated against second class citizens.
England didn't lose at all?
Being forced to withdraw from a country that is geographically right beside it encouraged India and others to strike for their own independence(in both violent and non-violent ways) and bring an end to Britain being any kind of a superpower.
Stop being an idiot.

Don't know your own people's history eh paddy?
The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves.
Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.
From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland's population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain's solution was to auction them off as well.
During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.
Many people today will avoid calling the Irish slaves what they truly were: Slaves. They'll come up with terms like "Indentured Servants" to describe what occurred to the Irish. However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle.
African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling). If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African.
The English masters quickly began breeding the Irish women for both their own personal pleasure and for greater profit. Children of slaves were themselves slaves, which increased the size of the master's free workforce. Even if an Irish woman somehow obtained her freedom, her kids would remain slaves of her master. Thus, Irish moms, even with this new found emancipation, would seldom abandon their kids and would remain in servitude.
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Were_there_Irish_slaves
damn irish slaves only worth a tenth of the cost of an African slave. 5 Sterling? That is about the price of 5 kilos of tea leaves at the time.
That's called getting owned by England my dear Aiden.
And England just left Ireland because they realized there was nothing worthwhile there, and got sick of trying to decipher that blarney accent you all have. England just felt bad from the 800 years of owning you and so let you all be free to dance under the moonlight and frolic in the shamrocks, whatever it is you mick leprechauns do these days lol

Okay, suppose your American parents are on vacation and you just happen to be born in a French hospital. By his reckoning you are French.

Don't know your own people's history eh paddy?
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Were_there_Irish_slaves
damn irish slaves only worth a tenth of the cost of an African slave.
Don't know my own history?
Try 50,000 Irish slaves, not 500,000. WikiAnswers isn't really a reliable source.
Yeah, you're right, England just felt bad. It couldn't have anything to do with the military losses, huge expense or international criticism now could it?
It's Aidan, by the way.
You're really not that intelligent are you? You have to result to rather tame insults to back up you're idiotic views.
Um, rather than dance under the moonlight, we worked on becoming the most affluent country in the EU, and having a much higher GDP per person than America.

Apparently google says you can get dual citizenship. So.... yes, he could be French, if thats what French law dictates.

Last I checked, you could get dual citizen ship with most countries with the exception of the USA... Somthing about being a traitor or somthing.
I remember Bobby Fisher was hasselled about it before he died when he tried to get his Icelandic citizenship.
aaannnnyyywaaayyyssss...
im pretty much burnt out on this subject.
:ohwell:
EDIT: for the fun of it I googled it as well, and you are indeed correct! you can have dual citizen ship but only through birth AND its not full USA citizenship as you will have your citizenship revoked should you vote in an election. Also, should you come to America then when you renounce your previous loyalty to any nation you kinda hit a snag there...
Still, neither here nor there. You win. Have a cookie.

no wiki answers isn't wrong, you just don't like dealing with the fact Ireland got owned harder than you care to think about, heck I would hate to think about it too if 500,000 of my people were sold into slavery, o wait I'm jewish my people are the most persecuted in history.
fact is though Ireland got beat by England. for hundreds of years. not the other way around like you are trying to paint it

hey scummy irish men, are you aware of an old IRA irish woman calling an english policeman to her house in a fake emergency, only for her IRA cronies to shoot that policeman as soon as he stepped out of his squad car? Stupid, scummy, Irish thing to do, and pointless as well. I guess the Irish just cant contain their terrorist instincts

Hey look at me, my great-grandmother's roommate's nephew immigrated here from Ireland so I love Dropkick Murphy's and Flogging Molly!! I'm so ****ing Irish!! If you're born in America, you're an American. If you're born in Ireland, you're Irish. That's how it works. Maybe if you're a first generation immigrant you can claim something, but if not, STFU.
:applause: this should be a law.

This was a trollmode thread from 6 years ago that I didn't believe in even while I was writing it. Just wanted to troll some Irish peeps to see what would happen.
I prefer Irish culture to English culture and I really love ancient Irish history and folk stories as well as their art like the book of Kells. I also really love Irish folk music like the Dubliners and have seen the Pogues live 3 times, and can probably recite all of their lyrics off the top of my head, even their B-sides like NW3. It also is one of my favorite countries to visit, when you go to the nature there it's like Middle Earth.
Ireland FTW, they are one of the great overachieving nations in the world, and similar to my peeps the Jews, were persecuted by everyone for no reason.
Dear Ireland, you're all right bros:cheers:
