Does anyone keep track of dunks per game?
I was wondering...........I think Shaq is by far the leader in this category, and if they do keep those stats, I don't think there was ever a player with 30 years or more, let alone 36, that had as many dunks per game as Shaq.
I don't know who it is for all time, but I'm quite sure Dwight Howard leads in dunks per game this year.

I clearly remember at some point in 94 or 95 on NBA Action they said Shaq had 140 dunks....
I think it was after 82 games...it could be....or sometime near the end of the season.
But I don't know did they track it for Shaq-only or for the league...

you can find it under the 'detailed player shooting stats' link at 82games.com
click the "dunks" tab at the top and it will sort itself.
as of 2/23/09, dwight was killing it at 139. shaq was 4th. lebron was the first non-center on the list at 97 (5th in the nba). no surprises there, really.
They do keep track of dunks per game now for everybody (not sure when they started this). Not sure where the stats are located though.

139 is crazy at this time of season.
I really would like to find that NBA Action where they say how much dunks Shaq had.
Not to take anything from Dwight, but Shaq definitely had similar DPG (lol) average, especially in his Magic days, that was all he did. Dunk, slam or jam.
Thanks for the heads up!

yw, man
agreed that 139 is nuts, and i am pretty sure shaq's dunks-per-game average was even higher than dwight's early in his career. i can remember watching a game where he was 10-for-15 from the floor, and all 10 makes were dunks.
I'm also curious who has the highest dunks/shot ratio ever and what that ratio was.

But still........ SHAQ!
AMAZING. Those Suns have some SERIOUS medical staff and those guys KNOW something a lot of people don't.
I really would like to find out who are they cos it's obvious they did ACE job on Shaq.
Just ridiculous.
