View Full Version : Where's the scariest hood in America?

hateraid
03-16-2009, 01:18 AM
We all know the reputation that South Central has, but I have this co-worker who's lived there and Louisiana and he says there are way rougher hoods in Baton Rouge. He says SC is glorified by hollywood, although it's still pretty rough. He says not only is there gang related shyt but some really scary people, like witches, voodoo and shyt. He says Philly is cake compared to there.

Nothing like watching down the street in Baton Rouge and some motherf*cker from an alley pops out and puts a hex on your ass. :oldlol:

Any place where there are a lot of minorities. It's like they're all in a big competition to see who can scare white people the most. Pretty mean when you consider white people either brought them over to the fine USA in shackles or let them come by their own free will as long as they crawled head first into holes and blew themselves up. Show some gratitude please.

I'm not saying the neighborhood I lived in was the worse in the US, but it was probably the worse in the Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana tri-county area. OTR (Over-the-Rhine). This is where the 2001 Cincinnati riots sprang from. It wasn't fun being in the middle of that, especially when you're white living in that neighborhood like I was.

I've been there as well. If you stick to the coast it isn't bad. Inland areas are a center for drug and gun exports to the US.

Per capita, more people are murdered there than anywhere else in the World. I realize it isn't in America, just thought people would like to know where the murder capital of the World is.

People act like Compton is hard.... it's got nothing on South Central St. Lucia.

i was all over the island soufre the gros islet night block partys and his family lives right outside of castries. all as a 16 yr old short white boy. but one time we were at this marina cause his uncle worked on the brig unicorn and we saw 2 columbians in a cigarette boat with hugh engines coming ang going all the time. but i had mad fun there and got mad drunk and high never felt scared or anything do you have any sources for this?

lol. I'm against party systems because I can't stand people just nodding their head at their own stupid points. hey I agree with some of the stuff O'reilly and Limbaugh say. I agree with some of the stuff Michael Moore and Al Franken say the problem is they don't give a **** about the truth. They only care about their ideology and that irritates me and I think its dangerous. Seeing that Sarah Palin actually had a chance to be the vice president of the country goes to show that as long as you cater to a bull **** ideology you can climb the political ladder and it scares me. On the flip side and I really don't want this to turn into a political thread but I watched Obama stand up there and spit out the same bull**** and platitudes that Bush did. the verdict is in that people didn't like that quality in Bush yet they vote for it again. I'm not gonna sit and compare the 2 cause I truly wanna give that man a chance he's only been in a few months. He is my president

Even if it is 150,000, that's 1 murder for every 3,750 people. If you're living in a little town where the population is 500, that's 7.5 people.

i got ice cream in compton once. its not that bad. been to south central before, not bad either. almost got shot in st louis once. thought i would get shot when i walked around baltimore. papa smurf bailed me out of a jam in detroit once (seriously, look him up, good dude, gave me some of his lucky beads too), someone got shot while i was walking around hartord, dc was dirty and i feared for my life on some occasions, paid a homeless man to protect me and walk me back to my hotel room in atlanta; also my friends got taken to a strip club by a rogue cabbie and robbed in atlanta.

not sure which to give the nod too tho.

Most people feel pretty comfortable walking around late at night in a neighborhood they've lived in for a while. I felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood I grew up in late at night. Once you've lived there you kind of.. get used to it. You learn how to handle yourself in certain situations. People who don't live there and visit, might not feel the same way. :oldlol:

every area of poverty will have pockets of streets that are more dangerous than others. it is hard to generalize and area such as south los angeles or south chicago because these places are so expansive

i used to live in compton in more an industrial area back in the early 90s and it was ok. but if you went one mile up, some of those streets were pretty bad

eh, ny doesn't have anything too bad anymore. When i was young it was like Escape from NY in some areas, but now there are way scarier places. We got lost once in NO for like 2 minutes, that was mad scary. Everyone is just standing, scoping you out. Philly has some nasty places. Orlando funny enough got some scary neighborhoods.

I dont know, I wouldnt fear walking around up there except that maybe somebody would try and pull some sneeky sh*t like I girl I knew told me some guys tried to throw acid on her from a moving car once up there......

Ill say I dont feel comfortable in:

Tasker area in South Philly and I used to hang around there but it was touchy... Kids just sitting at the playground cleaning their guns and sh*t... that always made me nervous...

parts of North Philly at night.......... Logan, parts of Germantown ave are just too much for me to be hanging out. Im good in the west oak lane section. Its hectic over there, but I know alot of people...

Camden I always get nervous in Camden especially where the Puerto Ricans are because some of those cats dont like black dudes (especially fly black dudes nailing little miras on their block)... I went to a couple parties over and hung out a little and never felt comfortable at all... I stayed ready for the rush...

S west Philly, and West Philly Im good in... thats the rest, home, the crib... I dont hang around the bottom or Mantua or nothing like that, but other than that... Im straight in West Philly

Yeah it is. I've only been up there once. I was going to mellon arena a few weeks, but I had to hit up at ATM first. I get out of my car and I could FEEL all of these eyeballs just following me.

Braddock isn't that great either, but it's more run down than it is dangerous. I spent some time there for a job I had last Summer. I think it gets a bit of an undeserved bad rap.

Same with Wilkinsburg. Very run down, but not really as bad as people make it out to be.

Wouldn't want to live in either of those places, though. I live in Monroeville.

jersey is a complete sh*t hole... paterson, camden, newark, are all sh*tty as hell. there are also small towns surrounding those cities that are pretty bad.

some parts of the bronx are pretty bad. dudes in the bronx always have something to prove and are real ignorant. i never f*cked around with BK that much but i know brownsville is rough. washington heights can be rough if your'e not dominican, lol.

from the places i've been to in the country i'd say miami, philly, and the cities in jersey were the worst. some hoods in north carolina [durham & raleigh] were pretty bad, with families living in one room shacks with chickens out front.

Brownsville isn't just rough its insane.

I went there once when I was 16 to see a girl I was dating that lived in the Garvey and I saw a guy get chased down the street in broad daylight and beaten with a lead pipe by 3 bloods.

Police stopped to check on him to see if he was alive and instead of standing out there they hopped back in their squad car and called an ambulance while driving away.

I've played basketball games at Wilkinsburg and its not as bad as it sounds but it isnt great either. During the years playing there I saw multiple dudes wearing house-arrest braclets on the court.

One time me and my buddies got stuck in the Hill District at night because his car had a flat and had to pull over. Now that was a scary ass night. It think it is safe to say put that spare on in record time. :oldlol:

Detroit, Pontiac and Flint are the scariest hoods in Michigan. Saw someone get shot in Pontiac last year in a parking lot at Erebus (worlds longest walk through haunted house). And Detroit and Flint having one of the worst crime rates in America like two years ago.

Flint is definitely tough.

Gotta shout out my boys

my dad lives in penns grove im not saying its a horrible hood but its pretty bad. in a one square mile town with a population of 4,704 there is 5 liquor stores, 4 bars and around 7 different sets of projects the town is riddled with low income and hud and with that along comes drug activity and thefts.

I know I mentioned Bridgeton in my above post. I forget which year, maybe '05 or '06? They were #1 in Jersey in crime per capita. My grandmom lives in Vineland and I'm there a lot. That's where I meet all my Puerto Rican girls :lol

Detroit, Michigan.

Terrible weather, unemployment rate that is over 20%, never ending construction on the roads, and perpetual top 3 most dangerous city in America. And that's been since the 70's. They'll tell you crime has declined, which it has, but that's simply due to the fact that before the riots there was bout 2 million people living in the city, and it's declined every year since. Present day there's 800,000 and some change.

They say a desperate man is a dangerous man, well you got about 800,000 of em here waitin for you. Niiggas can enjoy gettin money for a very short period of time in the city before they are shot and killed. Unless they relocate out the city quickly. Big Meech himself will admit to you that he rarely came back to the hood after he got bread, because it's so much jealousy and hatred in this city, that you're always a target.

HP, Del Ray, Brightmo, deep eastside like 6 and Chalmers, the Herman Gardens and the Jeffries are/were all terrible. When the government deems the projects uninhabitable and demands that they're demolished, you know they're pretty ****ty. And yet the giant vacant space where the Herman Gardens once stood is still empty with no plans for development, over 10 years later. That's the whole story of this city, it's ready to be torn down, but for what? There's no plans for future development, and it costs money to demolish it, so they just let it rot and decay.

But yet I can handle the hood. It's the other things that make it such a terrible place to live. The perpetual cycle of drugs, violence, and poverty is expected, and dealt with accordingly. The cold long ass winters, the bleak gray days, the lack of jobs, the jealousy and envy, all wear me out more than the actual violence. It just exacerbates the situation and changes the outlook from bleak to grim to basically hopeless.

I think it goes something like this..

Detroit
Camden
Flint
Oakland
St. Louis

Of the two I've been to and REALLY experienced... Detroit is a place you don't even want to be in the non-awful parts of the city.. Flint is the birthplace of the "flintsones" of michigan state Mateen Cleaves, Morris Peterson, and Charlie Bell. So it's AOK with me (minus ever wanting to touch foot in that *****hole of a city).

He says Philly is cake compared to there.
theres really scary white ppl in kenzo too

^^^this

currently you don't want to go anywhere near Mexico...

the Mexican Drug Cartel violence there is so bad that police chiefs have quit, the police can't even handle them at all, they are completely out gunned, and now the FREAKIN ARMY has to come in...

If your "hood" needs the army...then yeah, things are really f*cked up...
