Rockets' Landry shot in leg near downtown Houston
The Houston Chronicle reports:
Rockets forward Carl Landry is expected to miss 1-2 weeks after suffering a gunshot wound in his leg.
Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg early this morning in a possible drive-by shooting or failed robbery near downtown, police said.
Landry, 25, was released after treatment at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. A team spokesman said he suffered a flesh wound and is expected to be out of the lineup for one to two weeks.
...
Carl was treated and released at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center for a surface wound in his left calf and a dislocated finger on his left hand. X-rays were negative. We expect him to make a full recovery and return in 1-3 weeks.

With the current title it looks like Carl Landry was shot because he's gangrelated. From what I hear it's a stray bullet.

It was a rumour, it's not clear yet about how long he will be gone. It should be mentioned that he was very lucky, according to some sources it was multipleshot's the person fired towards Carl but only one hit him, it could have ended VERY bad.

That was my first thought too, Carl seems to be a very humble and down-to-earth guy and I've had the opportunity to meet him once when I was in Houston with basketballteam, we went to some Rocket-event and Carl seemed to be a very nice guy. At least I'm glad he's ok and he sure thing he had some luck that the other bullets missed him, this could have gone a hell alot worse then it did.

Wow, can you say street cred? How many other NBA players can say they've been shot? How many rap songs will reference this? Yeah, probably none.
Glad he only suffered a flesh wound to his leg, and has been released from hospital. If the bullet had been a couple inches in another direction and Carl's career, or life, could have been tragically ended. Who just randomly opens fire on another car at a fast food joint? People are ****ing crazy.

Shot in calf. Random violence. 1:30AM just got back from NO. Going to get food. Car was side-swiped. Whoever was in other car, fired shots. Treated and released already. Shouldn't miss much time.

so, from the OP, you said he was sideswiped and then shot at. but your link says "Houston police said two men in a vehicle behind Landry's opened fire. Landry exited his vehicle to see what was happening and was wounded in the lower leg."
Nothing about an accident. I love that "Landry exited his vehicle to see what was happening". sure, not to get the **** out of there. Was he at a drivethrough? Cant think of whats at 3000 leeland.

So yea, I feel bad for him, he's gonna be out for 1-2 weeks and HPD are saying it was a drive by shooting, somebody hit his car and he got out to look at the damage, and then some thugs drove by slowly and shot him. But yea, dang I feel bad, hope he's good and get well bro! I hope they catch the dumbasses who shot him!

HOUSTON (AP)—Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry was shot in the left leg early Tuesday while driving near his home.
The injury was minor, and the team said Landry was treated at a hospital and released. The Rockets said they expected Landry to return to action in one to three weeks.
The shooting occurred about 4 a.m., a few hours after the Rockets returned from a game at New Orleans. Landry drove home after the team arrived about 12:30 a.m.
Houston police said a car with two occupants hit Landry’s vehicle from behind. Police said Landry was shot when he got out to inspect the damage, and the other vehicle left the scene. The Rockets also said Landry dislocated a finger on his left hand in the incident.
The 6-foot-9 Landry has become a valuable player off the bench for the Rockets, averaging 9.3 points and five rebounds in his second NBA season. He had 12 points and six rebounds in Monday’s 95-84 win that kept Houston in third place in the Western Conference standings.
“We are very thankful and relieved that Carl’s injuries were relatively minor and that he is doing well,” the Rockets said in a statement. “We are in the process of working with authorities to gather more information.”
Landry was drafted by Seattle in the second round in 2007, then traded to Houston for a future second-round pick and cash. He averaged eight points and 4.9 rebounds in 2007-08. In Game 3 of a first-round series against Utah, Landry blocked Deron Williams’ layup try with 3.4 seconds left to preserve Houston’s 94-92 victory.
so, if the plane came in at 12:30, and the shooting happend at 4, wtf was he doing in that time?

http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/sports/pro/basketball&id=6713932
One of his neighbors who didn't want to be shown on camera said he had no idea it was Landry outside his door who needed help. He showed us the trail of blood Landry left behind.
"There was blood everywhere, all over the trails, all the way up to the front door, as you can see," he said. "He went to each of the neighbors' houses. The reason I know is because I heard the dogs barking at 4:30. Also, a neighbor came out this morning as I was rinsing off the blood, said that someone rang his doorbell at 4:30 this morning, saying, 'Let me in. I've been shot'."
That neighbor didn't let Landry in, as he couldn't tell who it was.
"(Landry) jumped over my fence and tried to get to my front door," the witness continued. "The reason I knew that is because I could see blood spots on the side of my house where he was trying to ring my doorbell."

well no, right there is a good reason to bash him. he got shot at 2:30 and didnt call the police for over an hour? thats pretty suspicious behavior.
from espn "Houston police said Landry was driving his sport utility vehicle southbound on a city street, when a northbound car swerved into his path and collided with his vehicle. Landry and the driver of the other vehicle made U-turns and the vehicles collided again and Landry's SUV hit a utility pole.
Police spokesman Kese Smith said Landry got out of his SUV to inspect the damage, and was shot by one of the two occupants of the car. The suspects then fled the scene, while Landry ran to get help, police said.
Smith originally said the incident occurred about 4 a.m., but said later that was the time authorities were notified. Smith did not know if Landry was the person who called police."
so, he got hit, did a Uie, and got hit again by the same car? thats obviously something going on, its like freaking jousting with cars. I bet the Fe was some banger's girl.

This story doesn't add up. I think this is what really happened.
Landry is bangin some chick whose got a thug boyfriend. Landry was at her place, bangin away, and the boyfriend and and a friend were waitin for him to leave. Landry leaves her place to go back to his place with her, and the chicks boyfriend and friend ram Landry's car off the road in a hit attempt. Landry knows what's up, so he immediatly flees the vehicle. The two suspects fire at him as he runs away (hitting him once in the leg), and chase him for a bit, but realize they left their car behind, and the cops would show up soon, so they bounce. The girl just sat in the car because she knew she wasn't in danger.
This makes 100x's more sense than Landrys version that some random people ran him off the road, shot at him, chased him, and did nothing to his girlfriend (and she had no fear to run).

To be honest, your fictional story does make some sense. First off my prayers go out to the Landry family, but i was left with questions...like 1. The girl just sits in the car after the accident and nothing happens to her? 2. How come she didnt call the police immediately if she's left to witness all of this?
3. How come there is no mention of an investigation going on, like the police searching for these thugs...as if they dont even care. Just like the big and pac cases...Seems like they dont even try to clean up the streets. These thugs are running around and no one is searching for them. Thats BullSh*t!
Congress really needs to do something about this street violence...unacceptable, We need to do something about these gun laws and put these gangs in prison where they belong. Or take out some military tanks and wipe out all of these gangs...ship em all off to an island and let them kill each other off.
