^ The greatest 'film' ever, IMO. I don't care that It's a 10 part mini-series, It's still technically a film, and there's no getting better than that.

They are coming out with another BOB. This time in the Pacific theatre. I think it follows the Marines this time. Same producers. Should be good.

not sure about "the greatest film ever" but it is my favorite WWII film...
SPR is up there though, but falls short to BOB due to the its fictional plot for me...
I have seen those episodes so many times I can't even tell you...

I find this comment funny.
Not trying to single you out (probably having said similar things myself), though I don't get when someone says this. Unless you experienced that particular war, then I don't see how you can make the claim.

I loved it, but was disappointed at the unnecessary liberties they took when they could have been more accurate, such as with the comments about Blithe (look it up). I still love the movie, but I'm bothered with how they handled his story.
A little slow when they're in the snowy forest camped out, but even that is better than most productions. One of my favorites... can't wait for the next part. Any word on when it will come out?

The only episode I've seen is the one where they find the concentration camp. It was badass. When I can, I'll try and see all of it.
Also, the first thing I noticed was that dude that was from Adventures of Pete and Pete is in this movie, Rick Gomez. Kinda funny.

I still haven't seen it which is quite unsettleing to me. My buddy owns the entire series on DVD and I've been meaning to borrow it but I've never gotten around to it.
I'm also pissed that I didn't watch the John Adams miniseries on HBO. I have the book by David McCullough but I haven't even gotten around to that because I'm in the middle of reading Oliver Twist.

No LJJ Is a cool guy. You are good too. So don't ignore him. Because he is a great poster. And he lives somewhere in Europe. And he likes Television. So stop being Rudey-TwoShoes. Because he is a good poster.
But for real somebody provide me a shallow synopsis ahorra! My two best friends have been gloating about this, and I deemed it unworthy of my eyez just cuz it was a ten-episode type thang. But I trust the words of the folks in these threads.

I could spend hours talking about it.
I actually didn't cry when real life Winters was talking at the end, but I was close. If I watched all ten episodes in a row, I probably would have, but I watched two/three a night.

Your right I never been into war, but reading first hand accounts, and seeing other WW2 movies where dudes just run around this got to be the closest thing to reality as it gets. AGAIN im not saying i have experienced such things.
Well, it's pretty realistic because it's based on real people and mostly real events. They couldn't and didn't try to take many liberties with the story.

Honestly, as great as this series was, the episodes of The Pacific that focus on Sledge are better than anything it has to offer. That said, the initial 4 episodes or so were complete garbage and as a series, BoB blows it completely out of the water. If you are watching the Pacific, you can just watch episodes 5-10 and basically be thoroughly mind****ed and honestly spent from watching it.

Haven't seen this either yet so I'll probably get around to it now that its been brought up again. I've only seen the first 2-3 episodes of The Pacific, seemed kind of slow but good.
This so far is like I'm playing Call of Duty. :lol

Only finished two episodes. So far sabol got what he deserved. I might mess up names but u know who I'm talkin about. Really liked how they stuck together for winters. Also having guys at the start of each episode speak? Wow. I can't imagine jumping out of the plane in those conditions. How about the guy finding out a german was dlfrom his neighborhood then as he walks off guy gets executed. Wtf

Speirs was some kind of badass. In the book Winters (the real one) describes him and Guarnere as born killers, and not in a negative light.

So GOBB what did you think overall about BOB? You gonna watch The Pacific now?
Personally if I were to give a Band a 10 then I'd give The Pacific an 8. Both great shows, but I like the European stuff more than the South Pacific. I enjoyed the characters more too in Band.

Give the first 2 episodes a shot. Like many shows, you wanna get the first introductory episode out of the way before the real stuff starts.

I got to give The Pacific a watch. Bot BOB was real good. The characters were definately the winners for BOB. The dialogue was really good. Some intense scenes and often I found myself on edge because you felt someone was about to get taken out. Also liked how they incoporated the actual people the story was about at the begginning of episodes. Real emotional stuff.

Agreed, definetly one of the shows I like to rewatch. There are a lot of series that I try to re-watch every few years but this one is perfect because it's only 10 episodes, it's not like a 5 season drama that has over 50 hours to watch.

Just finished watching it. Amazing what these guys went through.
On another note, what was with the part when Winters rushes up the hill by himself and shoots the teenager and then a bunch of other nazi soldiers? Did he start charging before he was supposed to? All the other GI's waited for a second before making the charge.

Winters led the charge. He wanted them to follow on the smoke grenade signal, but the smoke took longer to materialize than he expected. Hence the company were a few seconds behind.
