In last weeks Sport's Illustrated, a poll based on a survey of 190 NBA players was released. The question being,
"Which opposing NBA player would you most like to have on your team?"
32% wanted to run next to LeBron James,
13% wanted to go to war with Kobe Bryant,
8% wanted to run-and-gun with Steve Nash,
7% wanted to experience the intensity of Kevin Garnett
%7 wanted to fill the lanes for Chris Paul.
Which player would you least like to have on your team?
Stephon Marbury, Celtics G.....22%

It looks like Kobe confuses even the NBA players. They agree that he's a great player but maybe they don't think he'd be good teammate.:confusedshrug:

It appears that is the case - numbers don't lie? 22% want to be on his team and - 5% don't wanna be there ?

I would most like to play with Nash.
Lebron and Kobe are both ballhogs. Lebron gets assists, but only from drive and dish. He isos every play with the ball in his hands, and passes only when times running on the shotclock, so his teammates are forced to shoot. both Kobe and Lebron would be crappy teammates to me, yeh theyd get the wins but no one would ever get the ball

I was actually thinking that the other day, that Bron's teammates always seem to absolutely love the guy. I think he puts so much confidence in whoever he plays with and makes them feel important. It really helps the team morale so that they don't end up feeling like they're just roster fillers.

Sorry - 13% is far LESS than 22%(oooops! That little number belongs to the perennial cancer, Starbury!), doesn't it?

Poor Stephon. Although he's been playing crappy, he has seemed to embrace his role on these celtics.. If he could just keep out of trouble for a few seasons he could be able to clean up his image.. :confusedshrug:

Why wouldnt anyone want to play with Lebron? Dude's way young, and has yet to peak. Seems more of an upside.

That's just another why he is the best player in the world. Unlike several superstars (aside from the points) he makes his teammates much better.

Besides Kobe, the last star I'd want to play with would be a LeBron or Wade. Yes, they'll pass you the ball, but you'll seldom get to make a play yourself. Nash, on the other hand, would be fun to play with because he'll set you up but also allow you to create on your own.

That is more the case when playing with Wade then LeBron.
LeBron is always looking to pass and initiates the Cavs offense. If another player gets going, LeBron will cease to take shots in order to set that player up.
That just isn't the case with Wade/Kobe.

the Cavs only run 4 plays. Midrange post up to Z on the left, Z postup on the lowblock, and then two Lebron Iso high picks. Yes you can't deny that fact, Mike Brown only has them run 4 set plays. So of course Lebron can initiate that offense, especially when half the plays are isos for himself, lol

No team in the NBA has ever been able to post the best record in the league with only 4 set plays.
Hell no team since the 60's has ever had fewer than 9 plays in their arsenal.

Last night in the postgame interviews, Lebron sais he usually would've dunked that but he saw Wally running so hard on that play that he had to reward him:applause:

So Lebron has all these players throwing themselves at him wanting to be on his team..
Yet still has won the same amount of rings as Kobe has since 2009.. Even though nobody wants to play with Kobe & him missing an entire post season & regular season due to injury..
Impressive?

They wanted to play with him back in Cleveland but they didn't like the area. Lebron is the one that got Ray Allen and Mike Miller to Miami and if I remember right, he was key in getting the Birdman and Greg oden, although he never did anything. repost of mine.
Bosh wanted to play with Lebron, just not in Cleveland. From 2010
LeBron James may return to the Cavaliers, but Chris Bosh doesn’t want to go with him.
The Raptors and Cavaliers have worked out a deal that would send Bosh to Cleveland, but the power forward is not interested in playing there, according to an ESPN.com report. The Cavaliers appear the favorite to bring back their favorite son, but James has been unable to convince Bosh to join him.
The report states, “Both James and Bosh are aware that such a trade is possible, and James has tried to recruit Bosh to the Cavaliers several times in the past few weeks, according to sources.
“But right now, Bosh remains cold to the idea of playing in Cleveland. … Although Bosh wants to play with James, he wants to do it in Chicago, Miami or New Jersey”
If James cannot convince Bosh, it’s uncertain how this would affect a potential return to the Cavaliers.

AKRON, Ohio -- The drive took about 35 minutes. Neither man in the car said a word. Everything LeBron James was feeling on that trip to the airport four years ago -- the pain, the angst, the loss, the fear -- was written on his face.
For weeks he had tried to find a way to stay, to recruit players to join him in Cleveland, so he wouldn't have to leave. Ray Allen said no. So did Chris Bosh, Trevor Ariza and Dwyane Wade. Sure, they wanted to play with him. Who wouldn't? But not in Cleveland. James was the one with a connection to the place, not them. If he wanted to win, he would have to sever those ties and go somewhere where other stars would join him.
The decision to leave his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat had been made that morning. LeBron walked around with it uncomfortably all day. He knew it would hurt people, that nothing would ever be the same for him after he did it.
Somehow he got through the final day of his annual basketball camp in Akron without confessing. By the time Damon Jones drove him to the airport, where he would fly to Connecticut and reveal his infamous decision to the world, there was a lump in his throat.
"The ride from his house to the airport is 35 minutes," said Jones, who played with LeBron from 2005 to 2008 and remained a close friend. "Neither of us said a word. It was tough. You saw it on his face, just his emotions.
"Everybody thought that the Miami decision was planned a week, two weeks prior, but it was in the last minute. He exhausted everything to try and get players to come to Cleveland and play with him. I was there for the whole week, staying in his house. He was agonizing, 'I want to win. I want to win here, but can we?'
"I don't think the fans knew that. They think he just went to Miami and that was it."
LeBron went to Miami all right. He won two titles and evolved into the best basketball player on the planet. He answered his critics with championship trophies. He married the mother of his children, and they built a life in South Florida together. But he never truly left northeastern Ohio.

Combo of Lebron being the best player in the game and ring chasing with reduced roles. These players no longer have to carry teams on their own, they just have to play a role now.

If you're asking what the difference is between now and then, LeBron is actually committed to the Cavs longterm this time around and he's making that abundantly clear to "recruits." Back in '09? Not so much. :oldlol:

The difference is that even though they wanted to play with him before, he is now a proven winner and champion, and they probably feel more confident to the point that it outweighs their distaste for Cleveland itself.

Yes, because people are born with an innate distaste for Cleveland. :oldlol:
I party, drive, walk, bike, eat, etc. around Cleveland all the time and my mind is consistently blown as to why it gets such a bad rap, mostly among those who've never been in the area. I guess it has just become one of those popular culture definitions that are pretty much impossible to shake.
