Dirtiest Players in NBA History?

From my decades worth of watching the NBA, these are the top 5.

5. Karl Malone, elbows, cheapshots and allaround dirty play(just ask Isiah Thomas).

4. Bill Cartwright: one of the dirtiest bigmen who used dirty plays to gain and advantage(just ask Olajuwon).

3. John Stockton, used his "stock broker" looks to fool everyone into thinking he was a nice guy but would do whatever it took to get an unfair advantage including allegedly hitting opposing players in the groin.

2. Matt Harpring: very dirty player that I've seen go after people's knees and almost once broke Yao Ming's back with an extremely dirty play.

1. Shaq: Simply the DIRTIEST PLAYER TO EVER PLAY THE GAME.
The biggest bully the NBA's ever seen. Elbows defenders in the face, rams his shoulders into the defender, takes sucker punches at some of whom have their backs turned, commits flagrant 2 fouls on dunkers(even almost ENDED MJ and Vince Carter's careers after they tried to dunk on him).
During dunking on defenders he intentionally kicks them in the groin, knees them in the head, and elbows them after he lands, thows a quick forearm shiver on a guy 1/3rd his size(AK47), slapping Ostertag just because he shut Shaq down in the playoffs the previous year, etc.
Shaq NEVER EVER tries this kind of stuff on guys like Tractor Trailer or Anthony Mason whey they were guarding him, he's a CLASSIC coward and bully. I'd just love to see Mark Henry, Paul Wight or Dalip Singh give Shaq a taste of his own medicine.

How anyone can have a top 5 list without Laimbeer or Bowen is beyond me. With Shaq, a lot of it is because of his size. He's definitely a dirty player, but some of it is because he's so much bigger than everyone else.

I was a fan of Horry, but I do have to admit that he is a dirty player.
He actually started a bench clearing brawl between the Rockets and Sonics in the 1993 NBA playoffs because of a dirty flagrant 2 foul.

I have a Bulls game on tape from 1997 where Rodman literally knees Joe Wolf in the nuts and follows up with an elbow across the jaw. It was after a rebound that Wolf had grabbed and outletted it as Rodman was trying to jam the pass. He got the pass away with Rodman closely guarding him, and Rodman clearly knees him in the groin and gives a Van Damme-like elbow right across Wolf's chin/jaw. But the refs had already started going downcourt, plus Rodman semi-disguised the elbow as part of his turn to go back downcourt, so it was hard to see. But two different slow-mo replays clearly confirmed this. Wolf went down and got into it with Rodman, too. One of the wildest plays I've ever seen. Sh*t was like a Street Fighter 1-2 combo in a basketball game. :oldlol: Wish I could upload VHS.

I like a little dirty dirty, maybe it comes with being a Jazz fan. I personally think the NBA is to soft now. And Isiah Thomas was such a whiner, after that Malone elbow, every interview he added more and more stitches. As for Nash, I think that happened in game 1 of the Spurs/Suns playoff last year, one thing about Nssh he can sure take some punishment.

YES - I was just about to post that clip. Pushing, grabbing, etc... is one thing, but I've never seen someone do something that could obviously hurt/end someone's career more than Bowen.

Lost ALL respect for that guy after the "sweep the leg" move on Amare and all the "step under their feet and break their ankle" moves.

Seriously, after reviewing all those "pieces of evidence" I've got to say: :oldlol:

What do you expect to happen, when a 320 pound guy tries to block a twig like Stucky while coming over from the weak side and misses the block? Imagine their roles were reversed and Stucky tries to block Shaq (yeah right, lol). You'd STILL post it as evidence of Shaq's dirty play, cause he'd have run right through him and Stucky would have landed in the third row.
