Ray Allen has one of the purest shots of all time. I give him first place with out a doubt. The other two are by no doubt GREAT shooters too. I would tie them for second place haha...

I have always found Ray's jumper to be slightly overrated...Its great but it wasnt better then a host of other great shooters...

no body has a quicker release then Allen does, his form is pure and simple and repeated to a T every time...95% from the freethrow line this year i mean it doesn't get any better...

Incredibly off-topic, but Glen Rice Jr. is suiting up for the Yellow Jackets next year. I'm excited to see him play since Sr. is one of my all time favorites.

I gott to see glen rice play regulary here in houston as a rocket and met him close up. class act all the way, he treats everyone equally. very down to earth individual. he had the smoothest action i've seen on any rockets player since the sniper in eddie jhonson.he not only was a great 3point shooter, he also had a deadly mid range game and the most complete offensive repatoire out of all three guys on the list.

Most people forget he could post people up and score on most defenders on the block.very versatile score .

they may not be better shooters but there have been tons of shooters with quicker releases then Ray. One plays on his team right now by the name of Eddie House... I would also say Reggie Miller's jumper was a good deal quicker as well. Peja's is also just as quick

Ray Allen and I've seen all 3 in the NBA. 2 of them in college.

^Houston had the best looking release and form of all pure shooters, ever, but his percentage and consistency weren't quite there, plus the OP wants a comparison between only these 3.
If we just but in here for debate, the list'll be 20 deep in no time...
Ray Allen is the quickest of all pure shooters ever, definitely the quickest in this list, but Shuttleswoerth has always been very streaky...
Rice is overall the best, plus he didn't need alot of room being as big as he was. The injuries hurt his career, but not his spot shooting.

Yeah, in by in no way am I saying that these are the Top 3 greatest shooters...just 3 shooters that i like, and have a tuff time putting them in order...

My avatar. Quick release, 3-point menace, amazing at shooting off screens. The other 2 are real close though, but I guess I'm a little biased because I grew up watching my avatar play the most.

That's easy for me, and I choose:
http://p2.p.pixnet.net/albums/userpics/2/1/561821/48b50c19243b7.jpg
Glen Rice for instance, shot 47% from 3's for an entire season! (that's not fg that's 3pt%) in the toughest era in NBA history Glen Rice in that same year averaged 27ppg and played in 79 games. Glen Rice averaged 27ppg while making 47% of his 5.6 3's attempted per game. Glen Rice also won the 3 point shootout in 1995.

http://fans.2009sonics.com/images/239/medium/Dale_Ellis.jpg
Question, why is Dale Ellis never brought up in discussions like this? Dale Ellis was not only a deadly in game 3 point shooter but he did serve notice to the NBA that he was the man, as far as 3 point shooting was concerned, when he came in and won the 3 point shoot out in 1989, beating out players like Reggie Miller and Craig Hodges in the 89 shootout. I personally think it has a lot to do with the lack of national coverage of all the teams in that era. ESPN has come a long way compared to Dale Ellis's prime.

There is a flaw to Ray Allen's shooting form, he pushes the ball with his left thumb. The left hand, with a right hand shooter, is intended to be a guide for the ball, but he actually pushes it slightly with the left thumb. Picky, I know, but it's hard not to notice. Of course other players had flawed form but were just as effective as players with perfect form, see: Reggie Miller.
Watch Ray's left thumb:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPWtdEDUS80

Mitch Richmond was also a great shooter, but personally I think the cream of the crop when it comes to pure shooting were Dale Ellis and Glen Rice. Just my take on it.

The younger Rice in the Miami days was just as good getting to the rim. A 6-8 shooting guard/small forward can shoot at anyone.

Having watched both play during their primes, I disagree. Ray allen isn't 5'0"...he is 6'5"...so its not like a yao vs mugsey comparison here...
I will give the post play to Rice, but the attack the rim goes to Allen...

Why do kobe fans hate Ray so much? Overrated? How is his jumper overrated? He's probably the best shooter of all time. His jumpshot is picture perfect. Name one flaw in his jumpshot.

Rick Barry , Jerry West , Pistol Pete , World Be free , Ice man... just to name some guys I watched ..

Watching Glenn Rice , a young stud in MI college ball that guy showed pureness coming out of the womb.

He is Mr. Pure when you are talking about his competition as Mitch Rich & Allen.
