what are some scenes from the movies that disturb you deeply?

this thread came to my attention after I re-watched "Running Scared" and the little boy crawls into the van and the two people are making films with the little kids, then the people stuff him into a closet with a bag covering his head. this part of the movie mad me sick and made me think about how sick some people are.

what other movie scenes really disturb you?

Some movie scenes that come to mind...

Silence of the Lambs - When the guard is hanging from the cage/cell that Hannibal Lecter was contained in and the police walk in on it. Also the part where you find out he cut one of the guard's face off and put it on his own face.

Hannibal - When Hannibal, Clarice and her boss played by Ray Liotta are at a dinner table and Hannibal feeds Liotta his own brain as he cuts it out and fries it.

American History X - When Edward Norton stomps the guys face into the curb with his teeth on concrete.

8MM - There were so many disturbing images in that, I can't remember them all.

Exit to Eden - When Rosie O'Donnell appears in the movie in a black leather dominatrix outfit.

Misery - When Kathy Bates sledge hammers James Caan's ankles.

Saving Private Ryan - The opening scene shows how horrific war is. When I saw this in the movies, I was truly unprepared for it. When the deck of the first U-boat was lowered and the first 3 rows of soldiers took it in the noodle, was bad enough. However, the most disturbing thing for me during that scene was watching the soldier that had his arm blown off searching for it. After he found it, he picked it up, looked around in amazement and limped away. Yikes. (This is taken off another site, I totally agree with this one's description)

wow...

That is the first scene that came to my mind when I read the thread title...

I just can't watch that scene...it just upsets me...

I have a brother...and every time I see that scene it makes me think of what that would feel like if that happened to me...

IMO the most ruthless scene ever...

that scene is so bad I literally have to turn my head and leave the room...

I just can't watch it...

Yup. That's the first movie that ever made me want to retaliate for a character. Funny thing is, I remember first watching that movie with my "boys". Like 8 of us, 2 were white. Lol, one of them made the xperience so funny because he would damn near give a tearfull apology everytime something like that happend in the movie. Good times.

The Hostel sequence that gets me is the drill to the knee, but I have had multiple knee surgeries, so that's probably why.

The Audition is pretty much every fourth scene after the first act. Particularly the bag starting to roll around.

Hills Have Eyes 2, Creep (British Subway Horror Film) and Exorcist the Beginning (yes I know they are bad movies) Both featured some nasty, graphic pregnancy scenez. They included a hybrid nuclear monster/baby coming out and maggots covering the child Pazoozoo.

The Cell When J. Lo rips off the guys breast plate and his nipple skin stretch about six or seven inches forward, before they explode off. Also when the priest sticks scissors down Vince Vaughn's gut and slowly pulls his intestines out.

Gummo The entire f*cking movie. Especially the part where they're in the junkyard, and playing rabbits and indians. Seeing skinny, malnourished guys like that play some absurd ass sh!t gets to my head.

Little Miss Sunshine - Paul Dano'z punk azz trynna be like Freddy Neitschze. He ain't wurthy.

There Will Be Blood - The Church scene. Granted, I have a more or less positive view of your typical Christian, the part they slap DDL and tell "Father, to forgive him," just had me clenchin' my teeth.

I've seen AHX like ten times and neither scene has really bothered me.

yep, saw that one. Pretty grose (sp?) but as of the rest of the movie, it's pretty crappy. The first part (untill you see the "Creep") is quite good, but then it begins to show that it's just a B-film. If i was the director/scenarist of that movie, I'd gone with a Hannibal Lecter/Leatherface villain instead of a retard guy that actually looks like a hobo covered in white trash (litteraly white trash)

The Leatherface bit brings me to two of my scenes; in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Uncut Version:
-the first one; there's this couple, and the guy gets killed by Leatherface, but the girl doesn't know. He makes a mask out of the facial skin of the guy, and when he tries to kill the girl, she actually thinks that it's her boyfriend xD
-the second one; one of Leatherface's victims is held captive in his basement, hung on two meathooks. The basement is flooded. A woman tries to free the guy by lifting him up off the hooks, but slips. She tries to hold on to the guy's legs, falls and pulls the guy freakingly hard back on the hooks.

Other than that, there's the first Hostel-movie. There's also Hannibal, where dr. Lecter says: "I'm having an old friend for diner", after which the camera zooms out, and you can see that he's literally having an old friend for dinner; he's eating the brains out of a police officer who's still breathing :hammerhead: :violin:

I am in agreement when it comes to T.W.B.B. the church scene was riveting. It was cataclismically climactic.

I was also moved in a deep way over the scenes with his boy, due to the fact that my brother is also deaf. So I was in touch with the frustrating sentiment involved.

In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994 version), when the creature punches Dr. Frankenstein's wife in the chest and rips out her heart and holds it in his hand and shows it to him while it's still beating. Made me cringe when I first saw it.

This movie is nothing but a 2hour wtf inducing disturbing scene:
Trailer for movie Gummo (http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3198877977/)
Plot Summary: Solomon and Tummler are two bored teenage boys who live in Xenia, Ohio. A few years ago, a tornado swept through it, destroying more than half the town and killing the same amount, including Solomon's father. The film, from there, chronicles the anti-social adventures these two boys have. These include sniffing glue, killing cats, having sex, riding dirtbikes, listening to black metal, and meeting a cavalcade of quirky, bizarre, and scary people. These include a man who pimps his mentally ill wife to our anti-heroes, three sisters who play with their cat and practice becoming strippers, a black midget fending off the sexual advances of a troubled man (played by the director Harmony Korine), a 12-year-old gay transvestite who is also a cat killer, Solomon's mother who seems to be the only glimpse of sanity, two foul-mouthed six-year olds, and most importantly, a nymphlike skateboarder who walks around town wearing pink rabbit ears.

Smoke something, take something, drink something and be prepared to be mindraped by this movie.

Some good examples already mentioned, namely Irreversible and the pedo scenes in Running Scared.

Few others are;

Private Pyle blowing his brains out after killing his drill sergeant (?) in Full Metal Jacket
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory creeps me out
Sam Jackson falling down the stairs in Unbreakable
Tyler Durden willingly getting the hell beaten out of him by Lou in the basement of the bar then pouncing on him, spewing blood all over the guy
Jeff Goldblum's transformation in The Fly. Jeff Goldblum just makes me uneasy in general.
Chris Walken playing Russian roulette in Deer Hunter
basically all of Eraserhead

Some movie scenes that really freaked me out

The REDRUM scene in The Shining. Come to think of it, most of the 2nd half of that movie.

The Arm Amputation in Requiem for a Dream

The Snake on the guy's c*ck in Snakes on a Plane

Pretty much all of the first 2 Saw movies

The stinkpalm in Mallrats

and one of my all time favourites, the opening scene in Apocalypse Now whee Martin Sheen loses his f*cken mind. (apparently he wasn't acting and he really did lose it cos it was such a hard film to make.)

most of lynch's work is disturbing as far the imagery is concerned. inland empire for example left me feeling really uncomfortable after viewing it. same goes for a lot of cronnenberg's work.

If you ever get a chance to read the book, do it. It's an insanely intense read and is 100x more disturbing than the movie.

For me, the most disturbing scene is the "ear scene" in Reservoir Dogs:

couldn't remember the name of the movie in which a whore showed two naughty boys her ****. Though she was there with her back to the audiences, but I am sure she was really topless in front of the children in that scene. That always makes me think how was that allowed to be naked in front of minors.

That one scene in Braindead where the thing rips off her face and crawls out.

That scene in Pinocchio with the sperm whale, and how lost and helpless a mere child can be in amoment.

The way the humans tormented the poor elephant in Dumbo, and the torture the elephants underwent in the circus.

The Hellraiser scene where they showed the women's entire back rip off.

The general atmosphere of the Night of the Hunter flick.

The scene in Lord of the Rings 2, when Mr. Smeagol consumed the raw fish.

I am a man of morals and integrity, not one to be entertained by excessive gore.

I dont realy get disturbed by anything on film at all. There are some f'ed up moments like most of the Pianist, especially the part where the Germans throw the Jewish guy over the balcony when they were on the fourth floor and he was in a wheel chair. That was crazy. Or the part where a Nazi told some Jews to lie face down and started shooting them in the back of the head until he ran out of bullets, reloaded, and then killed the last Jew.
