Great voices, but which one do you like better and which one do you prefer?

I go with Kevin Harlan, I just like how he screams and goes wild after every big play.

Love Kevin Harlan, but Marv to me is the MJ of announcing. He's the standard. A shame he's stuck with Miller now.

Indeed.

I like Kevin Harlan simply because he has more passion. Though Marv does too, Kevin is just amazing and what he does, pumps everybody up.

Shame he doesn't get top announcing gigs anymore. Nice old school flair to his announcing though he is having some senior moments.

Agreed. I love Kevin Harlan's voice and how he just energizes the people watching the TV, and his sayings stick you quite well, such as "with no regard for human life!" when Lebron threw down that nasty ass dunk over KG last year's playoffs.
Marv is an amazing announcer as well, he's very passionate about the game and he has history with the sport. It's like John Madden except with basketball.

Kevin Harlan because his phrases are ****ing hilarious

ie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW3DlnMCiLk&fmt=18

And about a month ago he went on this like 15 second rant right before a commercial break, something like "GIVE ME A WHOPPER AND MAKE IT TWO PATTIES!!!!!!" Please please please please please tell me someone either knows what I'm talking about or has the video of it. I've never laughed harder during a game.

Harlan. Albert sounds too "announcer-y". Like, no one I know actually has a voice like that; I feel like it almost cheapens the viewing experience.

Gotta go with Marv on this one. His voice is one of the most recognizable. I think him, Ralph Lawler, and Stan Van Gundy have some of the most recognizable voices in the NBA.

Marv Albert is the original. The thing about him is that he fills you in on everything that's going on in the flow of the game yet also includes interesting info on players off the court as well. Also, he reacts to game-time situations quickly yet accurately.

Anyone else think Harlan and Doug Collins have some sort of gay relationship going on behind the scenes?

They're always putting their arm around the other or touching their hand when they show them talking and it is too strange to just assume that's natural behavior...

Thank you.

I never liked Kevin Harlan. He tries to out-Marv, Marv.

He's too phony and contrived for me. He tries to make every mundane dunk sound like a glacier hitting the titanic. They can't all be spectaculr plays man, damn.

That "No regard for human life" quote to me is the most whcak call I ever heard. It's not classic to me. There was one where he sounded like Vince McMahon and I'm thinking to myself "seriously?"

Harlan is a joke to me. I usually don't watch games he does. Give me Marv Albert all day. He calls a game the way it should be called, professionally and with context. He gets excited when it's the right time and doesn't scream after EVERY SINGLE DUNK in the game.

His call on Sundiata Gaines' game winner is classic and I know dude has a recording of it somewhere. Harlan can never match Marv.

I guess.

Harlan tries to hard to have that one classic call and to me he fails miserably every time he does. Instead of trying to let the play happen on it's own, he tries to force the moment.

That's why I like Marv. He calls a great game and has the right mix of passion and insight that Harlan doesn't have.

Marv and Steve Kerr are by far the best combination.. Him and Reggie are pretty good.

I like marv a lil better. Hes just a natural at it. He can be plugged with Hubie Brown and make Brown better by just knowing when to crack a subtle joke,or deliver his thoughts.

Mark Jackson is a color commentator (no racist ). I have a problem listening to play-by-play guys. They serve no purpose and are a relic of the radio-era. But yes I would rather listen to guys like Mark, JVG, Bill Walton talk about garbage than either of Harlan or Albert.

can you imagine how awkward it would sound without them though? OR if you had two of those other guys they might not even watch the game just pick a play apart that happened 4 trips earlier.

Habit. Heck sometimes when you're at the games live you might miss who did what but you don't see anyone asking for earpieces to listen in on the broadcast.

Haraln is OK. Marv sucks. Dont know why anyone likes this guy. Jockrides the star players and reminds us of their point total after every singe basket, i.e. "Kobe, now with 26 points". He developed this crap during the Jordan years and he hasn't abated.
