8. AI (Didn't deserve it)

you dont deserve to have an opinion saying that...dude took a team full of bums to the nba finals...yea its a regular season award but that should prove he deserved it....bringing up other stats is pointless....31 ppg speaks for itself....i dont know what his other numbers were exactly but im sure he had around 5 apg and around 1-2 spg....you must have a hate for him or something saying he didnt deserve it...sure Shaq couldve won it over him but to say Iverson didnt deserve it is blasphemy

I'm with you. I've got nothing but love for AI and I think he deserves everything he's gotten. Think about it: the guy gets 0 breaks ever. Everything is his fault, even losing to the lakers when they were the only team to beat them in the playoffs, even that's his fault apparently. I don't think he had a team of bums at all, but they didn't have business being there without AI. I've said it before and will say it again: AI's failure to win is not his failure but more of a failure of his coaches (except Larry Brown, who IMHO is the GOAT coach) to find a way to use AI properly. He's one of the most unique scoring forces in history and coaches like Karl/Curry/Ford are just not creative enough. Iverson with Don Nelson: that would have been interesting.

Well yeah saying he didn't deserve it might be a little extreme, but IMO, Shaq deserved it more.

I think the point was that Shaq had a crazy stacked team and Iverson really pushed his team to another level. They kind of rewarded Iverson cuz he stuck with philly long enough and did make them good and they knew it was probably his only chance. It is silly that Shaq only has one but its also kind of fitting. Shaq could have had 6 if he really wanted to but kind of took it easy. Its cool though, Shaq is one of the most beloved players ever cuz he's really more like a real person then most everyone in the league.

Number of top 3 defensive teams that won the championship in the last 6 years : 5 ('06 Heat is the only exception)

Number of top 3 offensive teams that won the championship in the last 6 years : 0

Yeah sure, defense doesn't really win championships.

Cuz 6 years and 'top 3' is a great sample huh? Even when the Suns allowed only 2 more points per 100 possessions?

I don't have time to look it up.

Number of poor offensive teams to win in ages. 1: pistons.

Number of poor defensive teams to win. Lots more.

Over the last six years :

The champs' average rank defensively : 3.0
The champs' average rank offensively : 9.0

If you don't count the Pistons, since they inflate the numbers quite a bit :

Defensively : 3.2
Offensively : 7.2

I'm writing an article on this. Its not finished. One thing you should look into though is the difference between what 7.2 and 1 actually is. The other is finalist results. The other like I've said is 6 years is a crappy sample and weights towards defense cuz the best teams have been defensive and one year the champion Spurs as I've said did not even deserve to be there.

Also, the year the Pistons made the finals they didn't deserve to be there. The Heat were killing them till Wade hurt his shoulder and bailed Detroit out.
