View Full Version : Does anyone else hate modern NBA uniforms? Favourite old school uni's...

I do and I also hate when a team changes their uniform, too. It seems like there is no sense of pride anymore and changing the uniform essentially all but erases the team's history. I can't stand the idea of 'alternate' jerseys, either, Cleveland have worn at least 6 different jerseys this season (yes, I am aware that two are "throwbacks"), but they have had nine different home jerseys, 10 different road jerseys an two alternate jerseys in their 38 year history. Without a superstar, it would be almost impossible for a small market team to establish an identity with this crap. I understand it is all about $$$, but it just pisses me off. The modern ones are so tacky looking. Also, has anyone else noticed that fewer teams have the city's name on their jereys? I also hate the shape of new jerseys, ie. the triangular neck, and I don't like shiny uniforms.

Anyway, here are my favourite jerseys:

Chicago Bulls road uniform 1973-1985
As a Bulls fan, I love these.

For the 1985/86 season, Denver changed the colour scheme of these a bit and wore them until 1993.

These look great just because of their simplicity.

There are some others that I like, just gotta find pictures, ie, Washington Bullets uni in my avi.

Thoughts?

Overall, I like the style of newer NBA jerseys.

However, there are some really cool throwback jerseys.

My favorites are the Warriors "The City" jersey, and the Nuggets "Sunset" jersey.

Both of those are awesome, I wish the Nuggets would wear the Rainbows a few times a season, at least on 70s night!

I must use this opportunity to point out that I'm a proud owner of one of these:

My next purchase is one of these so I can have both a white and a coloured jersey for when I play pick up ball at the Y:

The only difference between the one I posted (I fixed up the hawks mistake :D) and the later one is blue number and blue trim

Looks like a P-51 paintjob, I love those uniforms

Old jerseys, for the most part, look better than their modern equivalents, ESPECIALLY in the NFL where everybody wears dark blue/black and their logo is some pissed off looking animal in that lame 90s "sleek" design.

I don't hate all modern uniforms though. Some teams have had horrible jerseys in the past and really needed a change. I still dont like the current Mavericks Uni's (except for the green one's) but I truelly hated this one:

http://www.sportslogos.net/images/logos/6/228/full/qtxe0el4m8fyeaghhbgfofo97.gif

The Bobcats, Thunder, clippers, wolves and wizards all have scky jerseys IMO.. wouldnt mind seeing them gone (the uni's, not the teams )

Late 70s and 80s had the Best Uniforms  :applause: . They where More Elegant and it was When Basketball Was All About Greatness.

The Logos where Actually even more Modern in the 80s than the 90s. The 70s Where More Elegant than the 90s and 2000s but they lacked a bit of the modern touch so the 80s also win there

By the 90s everything began to decline not only the game and entrance of rookies that couldn`t play but the uniforms looked more like ganster outfits.

Loved the 80s Pacers Jersey

70s = Elegant :applause:

That Net uniform is the sole reason why uniforms can never be about current trends. Tie die was cool back in the early 90's. Just ask Marky Mark and his funky bunch.

Imagine if a team today would design an Ed Hardy-ish uniform. Or an Emo uniform.

these are really the only good modern jersey:

http://www.cavsnews.com/wp-content/cavaliers-blue-alternate%20jersey.jpeg

and

http://www.hoopsvibe.com/IMG/crop-580x580/kobe_24_lakers_jersey_yelloww.jpg

the rest bore me, i mean there are so many navy and red teams or black and red these days its not funny.

hawks first of all should've stuck with the og colors red and yellow not moving to white navy and red (cavs could do it coz cavs were one of the first to do it), the bobcats didn't need a navy jersey, the grizzlies were fine before they were navy, neither did detroit or denver.

and the raptors basically took the heat's jersey and bastardized it, they don't even wear purple anymore :(

these were the best jerseys;

http://imagecache.allposters.com/images/pic/TRND/FP4179~Atlanta-Hawks-Josh-Childress-Posters.jpg

so plain yet defining colors

http://www.jerseysaler.com/upimage/200810230248309566_s.jpg

this really wasn't necessary

and this is the GOAT(****ing barney had to sue the raptors because the dinosaurs looked to much alike)
