Ha that is one of the biggest Megalodon teeth ever found...

Mine is 3 1/2 inches (still f*cking huge) in a glass display case.

They can be found in certain areas of the Carolinas and Florida.

Wow, unless that pic is deceiving, that marlin looks a lot longer than 10-12 feet. No less than 15 from what I can tell.

How do you measure a marlin, tip of the nose to tail?
Well you have the short measure and the long measure. The long measure goes from tip of the tail to tip of the nose, and the short is from tip of the tail and ends right before the nose. I do not know which is used, but these measures are used in estimating a fish's weight. I'm guessing the one in the picture is 14 feet, because Nat Geo says the longest found was 14 feet and the heaviest was 1900 lbs. so there are some marlins that make this one look much smaller in comparison.

How do you measure a marlin, tip of the nose to tail?i think they measure from the tip of the lower jaw to the center (fork) of the tail section.. at least that how it's done when guessing the weight of the fish plus girth at the pectoral fin

in tournaments the igfa calls for that measurement also for records or if the fish should be brought in for weigh in

I was watching a fishing show a couple of weeks called Extreme Fishing with Robson Green. It was basically about a guy (Robson Green) going out and trying to catch wierd and unusally fish.

He tried to reel in one of these f*ckers and it took almost 2 hours and they had 4 guys sharing the rod, trying to pull it in.

Yeah this is clearly the coolest fish in the sea right now. It's actually blind I think cause it lives where there is no light so the eyes probably never had to develop to the outside of it's body. The transparent dome is pretty crazy though

its not blind, but it does live in really dark water. its eyes look straight up so it can see other fishes silhouettes caused by the sun above them.

what is more crazy is that other fish have developed light emitting cells so that these fish can't see them.

then after that, these fish develop so that they can distiguish between the artificial light produced by their prey and the actual light from the sun.

Basking sharks are awesome! Coincidentally there was a specimen about 26-27 feet long washed up dead on a beach here just last week, which is very, very rare. I was honoured to get the call and be able to go help with the study and remove some parts for study. I forget who, but some luck researcher got to walk off with the whole head, needless to say I was a little jealous.
