It would be tough to do without sending a subtle message that Nike owns the NBA. Plus, if you really want to honor Jordan, just name the MVP trophy after him or something...Don't change a logo that has no problems with it. I don't want to go see a massive overhaul of NBA stadiums/courts, jerseys, shirts, warmups, socks, sneakers, etc. just to update the logo. It just seems like wasted money.

Yeah, they definitely should, although I really like the logo now, but Jordan is GOAT, so it should be reflected in the logo. But I have no problem with it staying as Jerry West.

Mutombo wagging his finger should be the logo. Either that or the Shimmy of course.

I don't think Kobe' handle is better - his handle and movements are hirky jerky compared to the tight, crisp skills of Jordan. How does Mark even say this?

Do you really think the NBA logo is as recognized as the Jordan logo? I would bet you anything that more non-basketball fans know what the Jordan logo is over the NBA logo. Probably 60% to 40%.

The Jordan logo as it is now (the white silhouette) doesn't have nearly as much recognition as the NBA logo. For someone that knows next to nothing about basketball, doesn't watch the sport, they'll often times still recognize it. I guarantee if I showed my mom, girlfriend or even some of my male friends the Jordan logo, they would just think its a basketball player dunking.

If they changed the Jordan logo to the same style the current NBA is now, with the red, blue and white font it wouldn't do a thing. Okay, Jordan is the logo. Everyone still has the same thought of the NBA, the logo still conjures up the same image. However, people that don't know who is the logo now, wouldn't know who is the logo then. It honestly wouldn't do a thing for the league.

How can some who played the game has so little respect for its history? It would be bad enough to change it...but to change it to a corporations trademarked logo: depressing thought. Why not just make it the Nike Swoosh and be done with it.

I believe the NBA logo was the first to have that style with the white figure with the red and blue background. Now, that format has become the standard for sports league logos.

-EDIT that style was first with the MLB in '68, and the NBA copied that in '69.

Nice story about it's origin:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I don't know who is in the MLB logo, so to me does it matter? No, to me it symbolises professional baseball and that's what counts. Same with NBA, I don't care if it is Jerry West or Doug West.

No, no that's the Nike logo. They wouldn't make that the NBA one.

And of course the NBA logo should be Jordan though I won't be that upset if they never make it that.

I mean, he's the player widely regarded as GOAT but beyond that, he was by far the most popular player of all time and single handedly brought millions of additional fans to it.

Should the NHL logo be Gretzky then? Jordan is plenty famous and recognized, the League doesn't need to stamp his face on the logo to validate that.

I said I wouldn't be upset if they didn't do it, but sure Gretzky should be the logo of the NHL too. Why not? Why not have the most recognizable player, who did the most for the promotion of the game, and is arguably the greatest of all time as the logo? Doesnt seem that outrageous to me.

Just pretend the current one is Jordan. The whole point of the silhouette logo is that you can't tell who it is anyway. It's supposed to invoke an anonymous, faceless baller. It's supposed to be "fill in the blank." Most people don't know who it is, and that's as intended.

Of course you think it's a great idea, you're halfway up Jordan's ass anyway.

It's stupid to change a logo that's internationally known right now. MJ's logo is associated with Nike anyways. Only a retard, or someone like you deeply entrenched in Jordan's colon would think this was a good idea.

****ing retard.
