What do you prefer for casual drinking?

Regular budweiser.
Actually, a better answer would probably be neither, since the only American beers I really like are Yuengling and Coors Light. Corona is and always will be the GOAT.

I guess it all comes down to whether or not you're looking for superb, unmatched drinkability or a bold, full-bodied, but not over-powering AMERICAN lager.
Why not have one of each?

if im in the position where i have to choose between the two i go with bud light.

OK, I call BS on this one.
Coors Light is beer flavored water and, along with Miller Lite, Bud Light, etc. generic as f*ck. I flat out refuse to believe that you like Coors Light but not Bud Light. The difference in taste is negligible. I don't believe for a second you could taste the difference between two watered down light beers. That's like saying you like chocolate but won't touch Hershey's.

Neither. They're both piss-water. If I had to choose though, Budweiser.
no offense to you Shannon, you seem like a really good poster, but I have seen this exact comment many times here and it always comes of "douchy" to me...
To me if you are too good to drink a premium american ale then you are just not a man...
drinking a Bud Light at a sporting event can be one of the greatest beers a man can have IMO...
what do you drink during summer BBQs??? freakin Guiness???....no, a light beer is pretty much the only way to go...
again, I am not trying to call you out, it is just the vibe I get when people say that, you are far from the first...

very true...
although I do have a freind that for some strange reason his face turns all red when he drinks budweiser products, so he has to drink Coors, but that is a rare exception obvioulsy...
yeah, I can't really imagine someone loving one of those and hating another...

for whatever reason, i think miller lite tastes different/better than those other light ones.. however my beer of choice is stella. if they don't have that i probably have a heineken, and in the rare event they don't have either (cha cha lounge in la) ill drink a corona.
and if im feeling cheap, PBR is the way to go hah

Guinness is an overrated but well made stout. My favorites for sure, but i'm talking American Lager.
Anyone that says Corona is the best is total crap. Corona is made with hops grown in trash.

Sad to hear alcoholism runs in your family, but does posting while intoxicated (PWI?) run in your blood as well? That'd be unfortunate.

-I drank when I was a teen
-I attended art school after high school
-being on a computer while drunk is not something my family delt with, however had the internet been around I am sure they would have

I wouldn't throw up, but beers like Corona or Budweiser just don't have any taste to me. I could drink 10 of those and it wouldn't taste terrible, but I want my beer to have some taste you know? When I see the American beer ads it doesn't seem to be about taste at all, just "drinkability". I don't even know what that means.
Sure belgian beers are good, but they are pricey and are a whole different breed of beers.
We've got all kinds really. You got the heavier beers which are my favourite (Westvleteren, Westmalle, Duvel, Chimay, etc) and you have regular lagers (Stella, Jupiler, Cristal), and something in between (Leffe for example).

it means you can drink alot of them...
they are really pretty much ment for pounding...
you can't drink a 12 pack of guiness because you would be too full and bloated...drinking a 12 of Bud Light is very doable though...
also good for warm weather or sporting events...no one wants to drink a dark beer on a hot day...

Sure people would, not everyone wants drinkability on a hot day. A three-dollar guinness is very tempting on a hot day IMO.

difference in taste I guess... I love a cold, dark beer or a heavy triple beer on a hot day. But you can't drink 12 of those without being hammered, that is correct.

You actually have to drive to the abbey where they produce it, somewhere in a small village in the middle of nowhere, and all they give you is one crate. If I'm going to drink 15 of them, I don't want something that makes me feel like I've eaten a sandwich drenched in alcohol. Second of all, Corona is for people who "stand out." By that I mean, a group of five guys come to a bar, 4 order Buds but the fifth insists on Mexican macrobrewed piss with either a slice of lime or that grenadine marashino cherry ****. That one guy with his Corona, he's the "cultured" one, not to be confused with those boorish friends of his that drink American macrobrewed piss. Sometimes this ******* comes in the Heineken drinking variety, "giving himself a good name." He's not like the other *******s, he's a special kind of *******. After a few years of tossing grenadine, lime juice, oranges, and WTF-ever else he will finally accept the fact that he just doesn't like beer and really never did. If he wants to pretend to be manly he'll start drinking vodka and tonic water. If he just decides to be honest with himself? Order up that Cosmopolitan. And in the privacy of his own home? Smirnoff Ice and Mike's Hard Lemonade.

The Carolinas and Pittsburgh have strong connections, it seems. From what I hear, there are a lot of Pittsburgers that migrated down that way, so it would make sense that the beer is sold down there as well.
Funny thing is, before I moved here, I KNEW that I had that beer before, but couldn't remember for the life of me where. People around here kept telling me that they old sold it in this city. I lived in South Carolina for 7 years, so it HAD to have been down there where I had it, because they didn't sell it in my other state of residence (Ohio)

No, I can't find that beer in most places, but I was answering the question. If it's just bud and the normal beers, I'll go for it. I'm not opposed to drinking regular beers. I just prefer the one I mentioned moreso.

I guess I just don't understand how anyone could possibly prefer a berry beer ofver just a regular beer. It is just something that I have never encountered in real life...
the Guiness and Bass crowd I have seen plenty, but I have just never seen anyone that liked berry beer...
btw, I used to work at a beer store, I have tried that exact berry beer you listed (although the label looked much different back then) as well as the Sam Adams cherry....I am pretty sure those were two of the beers that I just couldn't finish because they tasted so bad to me...
also, those were always the beers that we had to remove from the shelves because they got old and no one ever bought them...

With me, most of the places around here that I go to serve the usual stuff. However, when I go to a place that has a huge selection, some of which I have never heard of before, I tend to go with that new item just to see what it's like. (which is how I came across the linenkeugel). It's kinda like going to a restaurant with a huge menu full of items that you have never tried before and getting.........a hamburger. :confusedshrug:
Some people like their creature comforts, and others, when the opportunity presents itself, want to try something unique. Nothing is wrong with either approach.
(Granted, there are certain restaurants that I go to that I will get the EXACT same thing each time)

Actually, a better answer would probably be neither, since the only American beers I really like are Yuengling and Coors Light. Corona is and always will be the GOAT.
That's pure ROFL. Corona is, at best, the fifth best Mexican beer. Seeing as Corona is your favorite and the only American beers you like are Yuengling and CL, I can safely assume that you have not tried very many different beers.
EDIT: lol at primetime defending his pee beer. $250,000 a year and still white trash.

I don't think I have EVER gone to a bar or club and seen a dude refuse or complain about any beer being "piss water"...

I am not trying to insult anyone but damn it seems like this thread lacks balls...("oh gosh, budweiser just disgusts me, I have to have leidenmulger with peaches that you only find in a tiny German town, now where the hell is my purse?")
props to JDG for being a "highlife man"...(aka, a normal male)
Different cultures man... no offense, but every beer here is far better than anything you guys have. Or at least, it is for me. If you don't like beer with a strong taste and just want to be able to drink 10 in a row without getting knocked out, you'll probably like American beers better. But I, and I think most people from Western Europe, like our beers better.
I can only speak for myself, and since Inbev has taken over/merged with AB pubs here have Budweiser as well, so I got to taste it. It's something I would finish if someone bought me one but I would not spend a single cent on it myself. I can honestly tell you that of all the Belgian beers I have tasted (around 50), even the least good one is still far better than Budweiser. It hasn't got anything to do with Bud being an American beer, cause Corona and Heineken are equally bad, if not worse.
The only thing Bud has over our beers are the hot chicks in the ads :D

I like almost all beers...(minus some stuff with berries in it or stuff that is so dark it is tar)
it just comes off douchy to me if someone were to actually complain about a "regular" beer in real life....that's all
and btw, Budweiser has just as much alcohol as guiness or bass or pretty much ANY beer in the world for the most part (minus 1%-2%)
the reason you can't drink a 12 pack of Guiness is because it is ridiculously filling....that would be like 1000000 calories...you would feel amazingly bloated...
you would have to quit becaues you are "full", not drunk...
American Ales are not like that, you can drink alot of them without feeling like you just ate an entire f*ckin pig...
btw, "water" is one of the main ingediants in all beer...

Why do people drink beer at clubs? At bars I can understand. Casual.
At a club. With a bunch of girls in slutty dresses? No. Beer doesn't cut it. You got vodka, whiskey, gin or rum if you're a girl. You drink that and only that.
Unless you're one of those cool guys who leans against the wall and circle jerks with his couple buddies trying to act like they're laid back in front of all the girls with their pretty smiles. You know, the guys who come in with the tight white T and the backwards cap. Everyone else knows they're trying to pick up harder than anyone else.....while we drink a few bottles, get too drunk, say dumb **** to girls and get laid.
Oh wait....they're still at the club trying to figure out what lines to use....

Well let me tell you, "everyone" is wrong. Bud, Coors, and Miller are the most prominent because they're cheap to make and cheap to buy.
There are hundreds of excellent American beers, lagers, ales, stouts, porter, pilsner, etc. but because they are usually brewed and distributed locally, they are not as popular. For example, New Belgium makes some of my favorite beers, but until recently was only available in 15 states but is still considered one of America's most successful microbreweries.
