I mentioned how big of a WWII nerd I was in Meticode's Demonoid thread, but I need to reiterate.

Wow. I hadn't played a video game outside of Tiger Woods 09 (which was OK) in years, and suddenly I'm devoting hours on end to this:

I had this game when I was a kid, and wow. It might be the single most complete WWII simulation ever. 10 crew members, and every friggin' one is playable. Pilot the plane, gunners, bomb aiming...the Norden has damn near the full complexity of the real one. It's an FPS, action, and tactical sim all wrapped in one. The amazing thing is, every single station, whether it be waist gunner or pilot, is with a full instrument panel and controls. Anyone who has any interest in the topic will steal this game via Demonoid postaste.

I really have troubling dropping my online game Dark Age of Camelot. The Player versus Player aspect of the game is what keeps me coming back to it and this is mainly why I play this over say something like WoW.

And any basketball game I just can't put down. I still play NBA 2K9 on PS2 sometimes.

I know man. There was this one guy on Dr. Phil who played Everquest and he had a wife and two kids and absolutely did nothing around the house. In one instances his child was passed out on the couch and he thought she was sleeping because he wasn't paying attention and she was actually unconscious. Then when his wife said "It's me and the kids or your game." He chose the game and kicked them out. He was able to do this because he owned the house totally. And this is a man in his later 30s early 40s with kids like 8 years old. After he realized what a mistake that was he came on Dr. Phil.

I'm no where near like that. I used to play DAoC all the time before I met my wife. I now play maybe every other day a total of like...6 hours or so a week at most? Before I met my wife it was probably near 30 hours a week. :oldlol:

If you like PvP you should seriously try Dark Age of Camelot my friend. The population isn't anything like WoW, the main servers have about 3000 people on them during primetime which is more than enough to find a lot of action. DAoC PvP > WoW PvP

The main reason DAoC isn't widely known or popular is becuase they do 0 advertising. Also it's $15/month. You can try the free servers by downloading the 14-day trial off DAoC's website, then installing the free expansions after that up to Catacombs then download a free server client called DAoC Portal. Al of this can be Google'd and easily found.

Yes DAoC is EA/Mythic just like WH, but most of everyone who left DAoC for WH came back within 6 months because they couldn't stand the PvP aspect of WH.

one of the reasons I could never get into WoW, Everquest and the like is they simply take too much of my time. I have a hard enough time finishing a Zelda or Final Fantasy type game. I think this is why I like the Wii. There are plenty of games that "core" douche bags (ie people who think Halo is a hardcore game while a SHUMP like R-Type is not) cry about simply existing that are fun, simple to learn and can be played in short bursts of you want.

Don't get me wrong, the others have some like that too, especially on the excellent XBox Live Arcade service but the Wii just seems to do those sorts better. At least for me anyway. Plus if I want a long ass epic adventure, I get em in Metroid, Zelda and the other skillion Nintendo franchises. Plus the Wii just seems to have a better overall variety. I have grown tired of FPS (especially since mouse and keyboard STILL blows away duel analog) and 3rd person over the top violence action games that saturate the PS3 and 360.

NBA 2k6, call me weird, but this game has the best association of all the 2k's. The rookies actually score as they grow in the league, in games like NBA 2k8 the best rookie future was averaging 10/10/9. Gay as hell.

I don't play this game anymore since Adventure games get boring when you know what will happen, but Monkey Island 3 was probably the BEST game I have EVER played. Such a great game.

the GOAT online game. almost every1 who played it online agreed. it was virtual crack. i honestly must have racked up about 2000-3000 hours over a four year period. i am a mad shooter/war game fan, and this game ****s all over other competition, i feel sorry for people who think COD is an amaizng online shooter. The gameplay was ridiculous. it had a massive scope for skill and tactical gameplay, and the learning curve was very steep. unfortunatley socom has been going down the ****ter since s3 and i dont even bother with the new one. in fact i dont play games much at all at the moment, as they are too comercially driven and aimed at the casual audience, and are generally just not as good as ps1/ps2 games

Currently it's dota for me. Tf2 is in the mix. Meticode my friends and I used to play the **** out of DAOC and we still think its the best MMO out there (PVP is amaaazing). However, we're all cheap bastards and we play on a free server nowadays. Plus most of my friends hate the expansions that came after shrouded Isles

I don't completely agree with this. Well, at least, not for the last maybe 3 years? Most of the PvE objectives (BC and later) are really just standing around and pressing hots(keys designated for macros). Black Temple, Sunwell Plateau, and Karazhan -- to name a few-- were nerf'd to hell bc no one was completing them months after release. The only instance that I've found interesting was Naxxramas since it blends some of the PvP techniques (ie moving/reacting). For every poster on the EJ forums, there are 100 WoW players who would like to smash their way through with brute force. Blizzard will accomodate them too. And why not? Most of those players wouldn't renew subscriptions if there was no feeling of accomplishment.

PvP, that's another story...

You don't have to pay monthly for it. It's a custom game in warcraft 3. Technically you do have to download it, but you need warcraft 3 to play it. You do need to buy the game and install it, then download dota and play it. You play online on Bnet with others.

I play Cops n Crooks multiplayer. Ranked #15 in the world. Considered one of the best Cops n Crooks players online. Some (others who play) say top 5. No modded controller either. Some folks are like Arod and Bonds, on that stuff. Battle Mode > than all others. You find a good buddy who is as equally skilled and you're set for hours on end.

I was absolutely addicted to Mario kart for N64. My friends and I would spend countless hours playin that **** and it would never get old. We'd make bets and everything. Then there was the battle mode, which were EASILY the best battle arenas in Mario Kart history. Block fort, double deck, skyscraper...ahhh the good old days.

I still play Counter Strike 1.6 but not as often. I used to be addicted to this game like no other. During school, that's all I would think about. I couldnt wait to get home to play CS. I don't like to play any of the dust, dust2 and aztec maps anymore. I like to play fun maps and modded servers and obstacle maps. Got bored of all the old stuff.

Team Fortress 2 was introduced to me by my friends. I thought it was gay and I played a few rounds and loved it. I love being the engineer and making sentry guns and teleporters and all that. It's a fun game and I never get bored.

Super Smash Bros for N64 is still the best Super Smash Bros in my opinion. I dominate at it. Pikachu is the man and is the best in the N64 version. They made his < + A attack a lot slower in the newer version. Teh gheyness.
