Unless the player specifically owns his own image rights, I'm not sure he'd get anything.

In all honesty though, I'm pretty sure the NBA owns all teh players

I'm pretty sure the teams keep all the merchandise sales. They get paid their salaries and that's it.

Every player get's payed an equal amount for jersey sales. All the teams, players, and league split a percentage. So DJ Mbenga get's paid the same amount as LeBron James.

The NBA and the teams they play for owns the right to their NAME... so in the case of Lebron or Kobe, Cavs and Lakers can use their name for any marketing on any merchandise (jerseys included). So the next time you go to Lakers store and see a pink Lakers jersey with Kobe's name on it.. Kobe doesn't get pay for you buying that gay jersey, but the Lakers and NBA will.
