I would love to see a compitent writer do a Usual Suspects that walks through what actually happened as what wouldn't be a sequel so much as a parallell, to the fictional story Kieser Sosay told.

The only things you can presume to be true in that are when the crew gets arrested at the beginning, and the boat fire at the end. Both incidents are cataloged by the police. Everything in between is presumbly fiction, at least to some degree, seeing as all the names and such were completely made up based on what was in the room. But something also must have actually happened between those two events, what and why could make for a good story.

I would love to see a 4th installment in the Bourne series,
however it's been such a great trilogy that I don't want them to screw it up.
I mean, the search for his identity is over, he found it and that's what it's been about. It was a fun ride.

In May 2007, prior to the release of Bourne Ultimatum, Matt Damon claimed that he would not be interested in returning for a fourth Bourne film, stating (of his participation in the Bourne franchise): "We have ridden that horse as far as we can."[28] Damon even said in an interview on The Daily Show that director Paul Greengrass joked that a fourth film could be titled "The Bourne Redundancy."[29] Nonetheless, the financial and critical success of Bourne Ultimatum has led to speculation in several magazines and Internet forums that another Bourne film might be produced. On February 22, 2008, Variety reported that a fourth film was indeed in the works, with both Damon and Greengrass on board.[30]

This was confirmed on June 25, 2008, by producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley in an interview with IESB.net. Marshall said "Hopefully they will be shooting [in the summer of 2010] for a release in 2011 and our favorite anti-hero is apparently headed to South America."[31] On October 16, 2008, it was announced that George Nolfi would write the script, with Frank Marshall producing, and Jeffrey Weiner and Henry Morrison executive producing. Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Joan Allen, and Paul Greengrass are also attached to the film.

Yes. I would think it has something to do with getting the same actors signed. I've heard Brooks, Rush, DeGeneres or at least their agents are difficult to negotiate with.

A new Super Mario Brothers movie should have nothing to do with the original. Not a sequel, not a remake, just forget there ever was a movie.

The Goonies would probably be a re-make rather than a sequel, I mean the actors are all in their 30's by now.

Scarface should probably be a prequel, telling how a young Tony Montana became such a bad ass growing up in Cuba, maybe he builds an empire in Cuba before being captured and shipped to Miami. Kind of like that Hannibal Lecter prequel, forget what it was called. Or else do a straight up remake. Al Pacino is way to old to do a sequel, and it would have to involve Tony somehow having survived getting shot point-blank in the back with a shotgun.

A Big Lebowski sequel would be sacrilege, the Coen's have never done a sequel to any of their movies. Besides, where could you go with it?

Sin City should have a sequel.

The Lost Boys should have a remake, only not quite as 80's cheesy.

It's too bad Michael Corleone died at the end of Godfather 3, a fourth Godfather movie could be good. I won't even suggest they do a remake because it could never, ever be as good as the first movie still is and always will be.

A prequel to Unforgiven could be awesome, or it could turn into a contrived action flick. I for one would love to see some of the horrid stuff that developed his reputation. But who would play the young William Munney? Clint has aged about 100 years since then.

i do not want to see any sequels ever......99% of all sequels are a disgusting attempt by the studio to cash in on a films that made money, every sequal made is a pure insult to us as cinema goers. they do not care how terrible a sequel is because the dumb audience will go and see it anyway. it is a proven money maker....look at the the trash that get full fledged multi film franchises these days.

many of the films you guys are mentioning are just films you like, but have no place needing a sequel, no country for oldmen for instance....really....do you honestly think a sequel is needed?

what i want to see is original ideas in film, not frigging sequels.

Hangover 2 and Anchorman 2

Hangover Sequel Talk
Director also discusses Old School follow-up.
by Scott Collura

June 15, 2009 - Now that The Hangover is a bona fide hit, talk of a sequel is inevitable. And the film's director Todd Phillips (Old School) says that while a follow-up to the drunken day-after comedy has been in discussions since before the film was even finished, a sequel is now confirmed to be in the works.

"We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set," Phillips tells MTV. "Two weeks ago I was saying, 'Let's see how it works out.' Now that the movie has really connected, it's something we're doing for sure."

The director says that shooting could begin as soon as next spring, and that all of the main characters will be back.

"I wouldn't do it unless all four guys were back," he adds. "I love The Hangover so much and I think we could crush it with the sequel. I've never had more fun making a movie, ever. Not that Old School wasn't fun, but these guys were so hungry and ready to kick ass everyday. We just all gelled so well on this film."

Depends how far back the story goes. My first choice would've been Heath Ledger but for obvious reasons, not happening. If you're just looking for someone that looks vaguely like a young Clint, go with Josh Hartnett. But I think Benicio Del Toro would be great for the role, but he's in his early 40s if I'm not mistaken.

If Clint signed on to do a prequel to Unforgiven (as in direct, not star in it) and felt that someone out there could play a young Will Munny, I'd have to trust him and I'm sure it would be great.

yes. you don't have the ultimate bad@$$ in antoine sugar and then the symbolic do gooder in a small town sheriff not square off. him killing the wife at the end would have been great to set up the confrontation. there were a lot of loose ends. a cult classic like pulp fiction, everything was tied off. this left questions unasked. a sequel would only be in order.

In this, the kick-off entry of "Portraits of Badassery: Mother****ers I Never Want to **** With," I hope to enlighten you, the reader, on the fading art of Badass-ery and the men and women who are still worthy bearers of its mantle.
For today's profile, I give you Sergeant Barnes, the biggest badass located anywhere in and around the hit film "Platoon." Played by Tom Berenger (at his scowl-liest), Sgt. Barnes is far and above the one person in this film you definitely do not want to **** with (and this is a movie that is pretty much 100% various dudes ****ing each other over)(usually with bullets)(fatally).

Just how badass is Sergeant Barnes?:
1) You can immediately tell he's a ****in' badass just by looking at the massively legit scar that takes up 75% of the right side of his face (sadly, science does not provide us with a way to determine if this scar is too legit, or even too legit to quit). Fact: you don't get scars by asking for juice at your local beauty parlor (Shelby, I'm looking at you).
2) He's not afraid to single-handedly confront six very confrontational and violent men in a glorified secret underground pot den and demand that they try and kill him. Not even Clint Eastwood (and this is no slight against Clint Eastwood) has ever successfully infiltrated a surreptitiously located devil weed bunker, let alone gotten the chance to man the **** up to the cold blooded killers inside. On top of that, when one of the drug addled maniacs (Charlie Sheen, of course) actually does try and take Barnes out, Barnes effortlessly beats him into submission and cuts his face with a totally sweet knife. See, this is a classic double whammy badass moment. Not only has Barnes proved his superior manhood (duh), he got to leave a little physical post-it note on the face of America's Favorite Sitcom Dad for the rest of his natural days. Clearly, as a man with a giant knife scar dominating 75% of the right side of his face, Barnes knows how to dish it just as well as he takes it. And that, readers, is one of the prime principles of Badassery.
3) As evidenced in the movie, the only successful way to fend of Sgt. Barnes involves attacking him directly with a super-sonic jet fighter loaded to the wing-tips with heavy ordinance. And then, THIS WILL ONLY STUN HIM TEMPORARILY. Pretty much anyone else on the planet probably could not stand the full force of a jet fired napalm storm/cluster **** of missiles and explosions. Luckily, Sgt. Barnes is not "pretty much everyone else on the planet."

Kudos to you, Sgt. Barnes. You, sir, are the inaugural member of Portraits of Badassery. May you wave the standard for all that follow.

. Badass Quotient: 135%
. What it would take for me to **** with him/her: Guaranteed reincarnation as a millionaire playboy who can fly.

You've been warned.

Early forties could still work depending on where you set the story. There's plenty of room to play. You'd have to figure it would settle in on him being tamed by the women he'd eventually marry. And since his kids are around twelve or so, it'd probably be about 14-15 years prior to the original.
My fist though was Christian Bale perhaps for his reserved intensity in 3:10. The look wouldn't mean too awfull much to me. I'd assume young Will Munney looks a lot like Josie Wales. But there'd have to be that strong but silent element, such a bad ass that he knows he doesn't have to prove anything. But in his youth he'd have to be more able to fly off the handle. Benecio would have me willing to give it a shot at least.

You have to assume that the "taming" was a gradual process though. Judging by the stories about him, 2-3 years seems too short from going from blowing away 3 deputies who had the drop on him to a pig farmer. He's been raising kids for at least 12 years or so, so you'd have to assume he's been somewhat settled for 15 or so, and I'd say that's probably the bottom end.

I think the oldest he could be in a prequel is 35, and 30 is probably a better number.

They would probably handle the more volatile stuff via flashback. But I would wager that in order to cobble a real story out of it, the focus of it would definitely be on the courtship of the wife, and particularly the relationship between her family whom he openly admits didn't like him and were unhappy with her over their relationship.

For the brief amount of screen time, I'm not sure I could differentiate between ten and twelve. Especially given the fact that the kid has no formal education, so sounds dumber than he would otherwise, yet has a ton of practical skill on the farm, so seems far older in regard to his ability to take on responsibility. Either way, it's a small margin.

I wouldn't mind seeing something more on his development of the relationship with Ned. They'd be more like travelling bandits, like if Appaloosa had a pair of nuts. And Ned's relationship with his Indian companion would be nice.

We [the viewer] isn't even sure if he was 'tamed'. His past is very blurry in the film, and It's open to interpretation. There's lots of directions you could go with a prequel.

Be careful, as it says in the Bible: "Thou shalt not speakth ill of Platoon or thou will surely turn gayeth." Soon, you and jdg may be holding hands as you watch Hugh Grant films.

That's just a Wednesday night for me.

We [the viewer] isn't even sure if he was 'tamed'. His past is very blurry in the film, and It's open to interpretation. There's lots of directions you could go with a prequel.

That's the great thing about it. In the right hands (Clint directing, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis doing the soundtrack) it could be another classic masterpiece. Especially with this man in the lead:

So he used to be drunk murderer, he meets his wife, stops being a drunk murderer and mentions numerous times throughout the film that his wife cured him of his wickedness, and we're not sure if he was tamed?

I want to see a prequel to Training Day. To see how Denzel's character became who we saw him as.

Would like to see a sequel or rather a remake of Demolition Man. Snipes was money as Simon Phoenix.

Serenity 2 - maybe Joss is big enough now to get it off the ground?)

Ghostbusters 3 - only if Bill Murray is in it, Zombieland length cameo is acceptable, Get Smart length is not

Golden Compass sequels - shit was about to get real with Daniel Craig willing to rip a kids soul out to travel dimensions

The Rocketeer, The Shadow, Dick Tracy - three pulp comic films that probably would have done better had they come out 15 years later.

Unbreakable 2 - best super hero origin film IMO but it turns out M Night may have only had a few good films in him.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension 2- b/c this flick is a glorious sloppy mess and I love it

I'd like to see a prequel of Rambo. To see what he have done in Vietnam that made him a crazy veteran

We saw some flashback in First Blood but it's not enough

It is almost Christmas, which makes me want another Gremlins movie. They rumored a part 3 (straight to DVD) for a while, but I think it fell through.

I want to see David Fincher continue to the Lisbeth Salander trilogy. I thought his version of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was better than the original and one of the best recent movies I've seen. Hopefully the actors find time to do the other two movies.
