They are legends. Well they will be when they retire. Their voices are just as good if not better then some of the classic singers of the past.
Listen to Beautiful by Christina or Better in Time by Leona or You Know I'm No Good, live, and you'll feel that impact. Who is better? Doesn't matter. They can sing and are one of the few with talent.
Britney, ok whatever, she went in and did her thing, I respect her. Katy Perry, Mya (Deceased from the music world finally), Rihanna, Beyonce, Natasha Beddingfield, Gwen Stefani; rubbish. Yeah I would bang them all and brag about it, but lets get real, they aren't anywhere near the top three. I hear people talk about how Pink has a voice. Well she doesn't and that's all that needs to be said abuot her.
Christina can pretty much take any song and make it beautiful. Listen to Like A Virgin with her and Britney at the VMA's, she steals the show. Leona needs to have that one big impactful song still, but its juts waiting to happen. As for amy, well Amy goes hard on every track.
Opinions?? Legends in the making.

Amy Winehouse fell down the ugly tree and hit every branch.

I hate to say this, but Winehouse would have been a "legend" if she OD'd a long time ago. We had to witness her decline into a mere crackhead along the years.
Even if they were heavily on the dope, or whatever, we didn thave to witness Jimmy, Joplin, Cobain, Brad Nowell, and whoever else, get fiercely UGLY with it, before they all OD'd.....for some reason them dying young, solidified their legendary status. Made them seem tragic, and appealing, rather than just your everyday run of the mill dope fiends.

Christina is definitely a legend. Leona and Amy still have some history to write.

Joss Stone, Adele, Alicia Keys....
Joss Stone has (arguably) the best voice right now. She's just so versatile.

In my opinion..Bjork, PJ Harvey and Beth Gibbons have produced way better albums than any of the female pop artists mentioned in this thread. These are true artists, where music comes first. As opposed to image and marketability.

Of all those woman you listed, Gwen Stefani used to make the best music when still with No Doubt. Doesn't have the voice of Xtina though. I hate it when people mention her in the same sentence as Britney

Loved her in No Doubt, but she has changed and looks like she is having a longer solo carreer then she would with No Doubt.
I want to wait for Amy's next album to see if she dropped off as much as some of you insist. This girl has serious potential, I wonder if she'll be able to fulfil some of it.
You're all right about Leona, she needs more time.
Christina's album Stripped may go down as one of the most underated. So heavily criticized, people really didn't understand the meaning behind songs like Dirtty, it wasn't just some sex song going for the $$, it had meaning.

Aguilera has the best voice out of all of them but all of them are unoriginal and pale imitations of great divas of the past.
Leona Lewis has a great voice but no soul or emotion behind it and terrible song choices.
