View Full Version : I Need A Good Stage Name

Ok, so next week I'm joining one of the actors unions and I have the option of registering a professional/stage name. Wouldn't be a bad idea because I'd maintain some anonymity/privacy because I don't have to change my legal name, but I'd have a pen name to use which is nice. So any idea on any catchy names I should use?
Don't care how stupid or random, just throw some cool names out there and maybe I can put together something good from the suggestions...

I use a wide variety of aliases. Juan Claudio Van Damn. Johnny Ringo, Jay Guevara, Cuervo Jones, J.C. Dark (after Cooger and Dark from Something Wicked This Way Comes), and a bunch more I can't think of at the moment. But I almost always include some variance of my real name (hence all the J's) in em.
Or you could just be "Ray Finkle"
Or "William Shatter"

Some of my aliases...
Earl Dark (taken from Earl Clark, but changing the CL to a D, just makes it a badass name)
Jeremy Winston (taken from the Pearl Jam song and Deadpool's middle name)
Albert James (taken from my grandad)
Jimmy Bravo (taken from Johnny Bravo)
Nothing too spectacular, but I like them.

Nathaniel Bartholomew Kristoffersson IV. And make sure you fake a British accent so you can get get casted in the next Gladiator or Troy or whatever historical epic gets made. Nothing but British actors in those for some reason.

going SAG or AFTRA?
I'm on set starting Monday, so I'm a must-join for AFTRA.
Question for you- can I register a pro name later, like not at the time of joining the union?

may i ask what AFTRA costs? you doing BG or you got a part? I don't remember about the stage name thing, pretty sure it's when you buy into the union. Might be different for AFTRA. I'm 100% sure you can change it later.

$1,300 for membership and $63.90 for dues, and I got a speaking part after starting off as featured BG on a pilot.
