Steve Nash, Melo, Roy, Pierce, Garnett, Duncan, Bosh, Dirk all too low.

Lol @ Duncan with an 88... wtf was 2k smoking? Looks like just about everybody's ratings went down. I guess to be in the 90's you have be REALLY elite. Used to be everybody was in the high 80's low 90's, guess their standards have changed.

And Lopez > Nene.. lol.

Im still going to change the ratings, these new ratings like the ones on Madden are pathetic.

Seriously why lower these guys ratings? I still dont understand it.:confusedshrug: Its not realistic, because the guys then suck total ass in the game.

Anthony Randolph at 67?
Mike Dunleavy at 64?
Steve Nash at 80?
Allen Iverson at 83 over OJ Mayo at 78?
Stephen Jackson at 81 over Odom, Turkoglu, Prince, Ariza, Battier, & Shard.

Stupid ****.

Rodney Stuckey a 73? Below rookie Ty Lawson? Come on now.

Even Will Bynum is way too low. He stepped it up last season, and was arguably better than Stuckey. Or at least more consistent.

I think they are just trying to lower ratings all round, which is fine in my opinion. But they've got to do something about the god awful shots around the basket. Seriously, somehow 6'0 guards forget how to make simple layups and shots right under the basket.

Is this for real? :confusedshrug: I'd say 70% of these players are rated too low and some lesser players are rated higher than the better players. What the hell 2k, now I'm definately going to wait for 2K11! I wasn't planning to buy 2k10 anyway this year.

John Salmons only a lousy 71 after such a good season! He had 18.3 ppg, 47.3% shooting, 41.5% three point shooting and 84.4% from the line last season. There's plenty of other examples of players getting ripped off with their ratings, but this one was a very obvious one for me. WTF 2K10!!! :rant

the fact that dirk, kg and duncan are not in the 90's just make these raters look so stupid.

i thinklast years ratings were fine in the last update maybe a little bit too high but not as much a they lowered them.

then again like someone mentioned they go a low as 25 this year instead of 50 so it probaly does balance out.

we'll just have to wait and play it before making any judgments i guess.

For me personally, I really like the new rating system but some of the individual ratings are curious to me. I am interested to know what factors have elevated Rondo's status so much in comparison to his competitors. I look forward to going into "edit player" to learn more.

I just noticed Kobe Bryant has a higher rating than LeBron for NBA2k10, although LeBron won MVP.

These ratings are going to make me rage when Im editing almost every single player in the game, I hope they finally changed LeBron's look. In 2K9 he still looked 19.

Kobe won Finals MVP in 2009, just like Pierce won Finals MVP in 08'.

However LeBron was voted as the best individual player in the NBA in 2009, and therefore should have the highest rating in NBA2K10.

Your right his rating should be tied with Kobe at worst since he was MVP.

The one that really struck me was Okur as the 19th ranked center. I mean this guy has a good shot at making the All-Star team due to the lack of centers in the west, but he's ranked below Dalmbert?!?!

As others have pointed out, Parker was too low as well. Not
horrible but not ideal overall. I suppose that's why it's a videogame.

He shouldn't have been tied with Kobe, he should have been respectfully ranked 1 rating ahead of Kobe at 98.

However I usually just bump the Elite players like LeBron, Kobe, CP3 & Wade to 99 anyways.

People would boycott 2K10 if it werent for the fact that NBA Live 10' sucks tremendous ass.

If NBA Live 10' had the same graphics engine as Madden uses, Live would slaughter the 2K series.

I prefer that the ratings have gone from 50-99 to 25-99 (or is it 0-99?), that makes more sense. I don't have a problem with lowering ratings, but I have a problem with the order. Some players are much better than others, but get given a worse rating.

I also love they said that they would make sure that no one was rated 99, so here we have Kobe and Lebron with 97 and 96. Whoop-di-f*cking-doo, they lose about 2 or so rating points and other guys end up taking a huge hit and have lost 5+ points.

Ridiculous.

It's not really boycotting I was going to skip this years version regardless of how the game was this year. I rather save my money and wait for 2k11 for the main reason being the 2010 free agency, where a couple teams overall appearance may look different and I'll probably enjoy it more too, plus it'll probably be even better next year overall anyway so I think it'll be worth the wait.

You all need to learn to read about 2K's new rating system before just flipping out for no reason...Rondo is rated so high because he has the ability to rebound, play defense, score, assist etc etc. at high rates for a PG...players like Nash will be better offensive players than Rondo, but they're ratings are lower due being crappy defense/rebounding/defensive awareness ratings etc...Dirk is only an 83 because he's a ****ty defender...he's an amazing offensive player and will be amazing in the game, but his defense sucks and he's gonna lose a lot of rating points in those types of area's...just because a player is rated higher than someone else doesn't necessarily make them better...a lot of ratings are put into the offensive/defensive awareness categories that really boosts players overall rating, but they don't necessarily mean much to the actual player when you're controlling them.

They are using an entirely different scale, so give it a chance.

It seems like different positions are getting different scores. For example, a SG/PG might be in the 90's... but that doesn't make them better than a PF/C in the high 80's.

I agree some of the relative ranks are off... but don't forget they change these stats all the time during the season.

I agree guys like Rondo are overrated... but lets not forget the guy averaged a triple double through most of the playoffs last year.

It's only 50$... that's less than 5$ a month.

People would boycott 2K10 if it werent for the fact that NBA Live 10' sucks tremendous ass.

If NBA Live 10' had the same graphics engine as Madden uses, Live would slaughter the 2K series.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't give a crap for graphics between the two games, gameplay >>>>>>>>>>> graphics. 2K, while obviously nothing like real basketball, is far closer than Live.

But they've got to fix that stupid layup thing, plus somehow even the crappiest guards (and sometimes big men!) can make the most acrobatic reverse layups.

It really never ceases to amaze me...i have to applaud you and so many others :applause: :applause: :applause: ...read my post, post #51 please...it explains why the ratings are what they are...if it doesn't explain it enough for you then play NBA 2k10 Draft Combine...check the online rankings of players that are rated as high as 58...want to know how they do it? They increase there lowest attributes aka offensive/defensive awareness to make there players "look" better than what they are...a lot of these players in 2k10 are rated lower than others even if they are obviously better because of some of these almost "meaningless" ratings...it just boosts there overall, but it doesn't necessarily make the players better even if they're rated higher...

Kobe won Finals MVP in 2009, just like Pierce won Finals MVP in 08'.

However LeBron was voted as the best individual player in the NBA in 2009, and therefore should have the highest rating in NBA2K10.

Well I wouldn't compare Pierce to Kobe because in 09 Kobe did finish second to Bron. But I agree with you LeBron and Kobe should at least have the same rating if anything. But remember Kobe is on the cover so they will be showing him more love.

Try looking at the list like this.

A 70 is a C grade... or the 'average' NBA player.

Now assume:

65-75 rating is the 'average' NBA player.

75-85 rating is the 'all-star' caliber NBA player.

85+ rating is Superstar level NBA player.

That's a pretty good way to quantify that list, but I think you might have to put the 'average' boundary a bit higher, because quite a few just slightly above average NBA players are at 75 (Alston, Ellis, Westbrook, Felton, Redd, Crawford, Barbosa, Turkyglu, Jefferson). I mean, at this point, none of them are allstar but are definitely above average material.

I like the rating but I laugh at Vujacic being rated higher than Martell Webster and Rudy Fernandez. What a joke.

Also Rondo=Brandon Roy

I know those are overall rankings, but overall they are not equal. Roy is a better SG than Rondo is a point guard.

Webster is one of the best 3 point shooters in 2k9. He was a starter for Portland. He is getting really dissed since he missed a season.

I hate to nit pick but...Larry Hughes is better than JR Smith? Aside from just watching the games, anyone can look at the per-40s and advanced stats and see that JR produces - 22.0 - 5.3 - 4.0 and a 57.6 true shooting percentage - like a borderline all-star.

you do know these rankings are actually based on 2k's set of parameters measuring a player's core skillsets and athletic ability? (those sliders you can adjust)

this is not a measure of overall impact on the game or "who is better than whom."

beside in previous 2k games, a truly skilled player can take any 80s rated player and utterly dominate a casual player who abuses the superstars. It's all up to how talented the player is. less screen and rolling for easy buckets and LESS dunking nonstop.

if you have played the NBA Draft Combine, then you will know what this new stamina turbo meter is all about.

no more nonstop fast breaks with amazing dunks all the time.

Example:

my guy ran into the passing lanes and the ball hit him in the chest and bounced to his teammate (as opposed to always snatching it out of the air each time). My guy starts running ahead of the defense and my teammate passes it to me.

I caught it at about a few steps outside the three and I was wide open. i jammed the turbo for a monster jam and.... I blew the dunk...

in thefuture, I turbo close to the bucket, release it and put in a layup instead.

Much more realistic in the middle of a very tiring game.

Everyone needs to read post #51. These ratings are fine with a few exceptions (which can and probably will be fixed). Just to give people an idea, my PG in draft combine is only a 42 overall. He has 95 speed, 90 quickness, and 80 ball handling. I guarantee he will play much better than his rating.

BTW, the PG ratings in this game are going to be higher than the other positions because of the stats they added such as off-hand dribbling and ball security. Just trust me when I say, these ratings will be the best out of any 2k game.
