[quote]EW.com reports that Wayans filmed a 13-minute screen test where he "transforms into Pryor" that secured the role for him. Condon used a similar approach while making "Dreamgirls" to prove that Beyonc

I'm sure a lot of people think this is sacrilegious, but if it does take a more serious role I think Marlon could be ok. I've always thought he was a decent actor, just only ever had one movie where he could show it.
before Ray Jamie Foxx was mostly known for his sitcom and In Living Color. I'll give Marlon a chance but I won't be surprised if he fails.

If Eddie Murphy dropped out, it's probably a good project to be involved in.

Agreed, I guess Marlon is looking for more serious roles rather than in your face comedies. Props for him to go for it, but I too wouldn't be surprised if he fails

That was my original reaction. Eddie's ability to gauge a script's potential is questionable at best.

His older brother Damon was actually supposed to play Pryor around 95 I believe in a bio-pic. Damon did a great Pryor on In Living Color.

Marlon Mayans was good in Requiem for a Dream. Why did Eddie Murphy drops out?

Mike Epps was originally hand picked by Pryor before he passed, than Pryor hung out with him and realized "this dude sucks" and fired him.

Eddie Griffin would have been perfect around the mid 90s' for this role and Damon Wayans in the early 90s and Robert Townsend in the late 80s'/

Yeah.....I cosign Eddie Griffin. Mike Epps? Hell ****ing no....he is funny as HELL, but I can't see him doing Pryor. Same with Marlon Wayans. It's seems kinda backwards to me

this will be the black version of man on the moon, probably will suck, i don't think comedians make good biopics.

Eddie would have been a great choice. If he dropped out it's probably because the script sucks, or isn't true to reality.

Richard Pryor is Eddie's idol. If it was a legitimate script he would have taken the role.

oh and stop hating on Eddie Murphy post prime. The guy had kids, was middle aged, and started making kid movies that sucked... that doesn't take away from all his great films.

What is the last serious role that Eddie Murphy did well? As a matter of fact, what is the last serious role that Eddie even played?

I don't see him working as the lead in a biopic of a very lovable but ultimately tragic character.

Dont hate on Eddie.. ."meet Dave" was pretty funny despite being a bust. But props to Marlon.. i hope he does well.. Who knows.. this could be his big "Ali" role which takes him to the next level.

I expect him to pull it off. Most Black comedians spend a good portion of their career ripping off Pryor anyway.

Eddie Murphy is too old to play Pryor anyway.

Mike Epps is not funny at all as a comedian, but is funny as an actor. But, he's not a good enough actor to pull a biopic off.

Marlon is the best actor in the mix by far, and kind of looks like him. I think he's gonna kill the role.

Mike Epps is now back in the picture and will now play Richard (after being fired be Jennifer almost ten years ago.)

Lee Daniels is now directing the film.

Ugh...Mike Epps is horrible. If it was Marlon Wayans I could get behind that though.

The whole project changed.

Chris Rock and Adam Sandler were behind the one with Wayans, and Lee Daniels is behind the current one. Wayans was probably never in Daniels radar. Epps is also playing Pryor in a Nina Simone biopic.

At least it's not Nick Cannon, which he was rumored to play Pryor also.

Wayans was originally considered for the role of Robin in the 1992 film Batman Returns,[7] however it was felt that the film featured too many characters, so the character was omitted from that film. He was then formally signed for the role in the 1995 sequel Batman Forever to play opposite Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face, but the mid-production change in directors from Tim Burton to Joel Schumacher would result in both parts being recast and Wayans being paid out (Williams was not yet signed on, but he received a penalty fee as his contract for Batman allowed him the option of reprise), for which he still receives some royalty payments to this day. He was replaced by Chris O'Donnell.

Then this shit writes its self...why waste your time taking a chance on Marlon or Damon Waynes when EG already did it.
