“I’m not going to bow down," said Jackson. "I’m not a fan of Kobe. I’m not somebody who looks up to him. I’m a grown man myself. So when I go out there and play the game, I play the game. I feel like I’m just as good as him. I might not get the publicity or notoriety he gets, but I feel like I can play with anybody in the NBA any given night.”

He knows he's not as good as Kobe.. . I really like what he said though. He's a grown man nd a pro baller. There's no reason for him to look up to Kobe or any opponent. He just has to go out and do his job :applause:

He knows Kobe is 10 times better. When you have to compare yourself to Kobe you know your not as good as him.

He's nowhere near as good as Kobe, but if you are confident in your ability this is how you should feel everytime you step onto the court no matter who else is on it.

SJAX is definatley on Kome's level. Playing with Gasol, Artest, Bynum, and Odom... I'm sure SJAX could put up similar numbers to Kome... and would probably win a 'ship as well (he already has one).

Last seasons numbers?

SJAX - 20.9ppg 6.5apg 5.1rpg 1.5spg

Kome - 26ppg 4.9apg 5.1rpg 1.5spg

So SJAX dishes out almost 2 more assists per game than Kome, and gets the same in rebounds and steals... even though he doesn't play with 4 All-Stars. SJAX on the Lakers would be almost unstoppable. Pick and roll with Gasol would be devastating.

Those numbers are pretty bad for a person who plays on a team that probably attempts more field goals than any other team.

Kobe plays in a half court offense where assists are spread out because its an equal opportunity offense. Jax also shoots 40% while kobe's is significantly higher at around 45-45%. lol put Kobe on the warriors and he averages 35/6/6.

edit: Sorry didn't notice the white print. lol

Stephen Jackson in place of Bryant? Yup, most GMs would do that in a second. Save some money, get a player just as good.

Yeah. The only question being: Which sport?

Anything other than basketball and I'll entertain the thought.

That's the type of confidence that is required to play basketball on a high level. I can respect the attitude and confidence.

You know what? I love this statement. Regardless if its true or not, when is the last time someone grew some and said something like this? The league became too sissy like because of the brawl, well f that.
Finally someone has the guts to say sh*t!
SJax, you are my hero!

This is nothing new. Basketball players have always been saying they are as good, if not better than the highest standards of the NBA. I mean come on, people still remember Pierce's boast after the 2008 Finals right? (Although he had way more justification than SJax will ever have).

I agree with S Jax.

Without Fisher and Odom, Kobe would be a bald headed Dominique Wilkins

I mean, Kobe would be a slowly balding Dominique Wilkins, my mistake.

Obviously Jax is no where near Kobe's level but this is the attuide that all NBA players that step on the court should have. When you play in such a high quailty leeague if you don't have the belief that you can play with the best you have already lost before you even step on the court.

S-Jax has been one of my favorite players in recent years. Kobe might be way way better than S-Jax, but as seen here, he is a very good scorer and all around talent. And before people point out GSWs pace, he's been effective on the Spurs & Pacers in some of the slowest teams in the league.

Jackson is an above average player, who's accomplished things in the NBA and been somewhat successful, he should step on the court with this type of confidence against Kobe.

Jackson already won a ring with San Antonio.

I love how people defend SJax.. a player who plays no defense, all offense. Sure he can shoot the ball, but there is a reason why he's been bounced around and teams won't give him the contract he wants.

Confident? Sure. Ask Kobe if he thinks he is better than MJ, guaranteed he think he is, but I don't think he will be stupid enough to say it publicly. If SJax wants to show he is better or just as good.. just STFU and play and show people he is better... talk means sh!t if you can't back it up..

I'm not sure. 25 year-old Kobe may have thought that, though. Today's version, nope. As for Stephen Jackson, he should focus more on winning some more games first. I'm not a big fan of people running their mouths about their individual abilities in a TEAM sport.

A boxer saying 'Im da best, gonna kick his a*s' is at least measurable and thus has a meaning. But in fact noone cares in the real world how good SJax is individually. Fans care about wins not babbling. SJax is only as good as far his success takes him.

SJax has always felt the need to hype himself. If no one is hyping you then take a clue and do not hype yourself.

u guys are taking those words too literally

you KNOW what he really meant is "i feel like i can play with anyone and match up with anyone on any night, i dont have to be scared of kobe cause im confident and i feel i can match up with him"

thats the idea of what hes talking about. you can disagree, but posting all these pics claiming hes stupid is just wrong.

most ball players think that way. you think an above average player, like say Bibby, would face Chris Paul and think "oh no, Chris PAul is a level better than me, I really can't compete"? You think when Oakley was playing Malone he was thinking "damn, Malone is a perennial all star and a franchise player, I'm not. I can only hope to not be beat tonight"?

TheGreatDeraj
10-15-2009, 01:02 PM
I'd do the same thing. No way would I ever say another man is better than me at something. I'd say I respect him, but we'll see who is better on the court next season.

Agreed - all players should feel like they are the best.

What I dont get is the need for him to talk about his manhood and him being a grown man. Really SJax, a grown man?

I think he's on his period. Really.

He acts the way my gf does when its that time of the month - mad at the world.

Dude is mad at the organization, his teamates, his coach, refs and kobe. Who is next? lmao.

why is it stupid for him to say so publicly? if he feels he's as good as kobe thats how he feels.im sure whoever did the article is the one who brought kobe's name up, i like jax confidence.
