I ask this because the media would hype Oj Mayo so much, and I had never even heard of Dwyane Wade before he got drafted....

Mayo will be 10x the player. Wade had to spend 3 years in college. Then he didn't even erupt until his 2year in the NBA. That's 5 years of playing at a very high level before Dwyane Wade became Dwade. Mayo is only starting his second year and was a ton better than Wade his rookie season even though Wade spent 3 years in college.

John Wall is better than OJ Mayo and Dwyane Wade right now, and he is only 19 years old.

Mayo nice though, I don't see how he is so hated among ISH posters. He is 21 years old in his 2nd year in the NBA. Your guys are honestly going to take a 29-30 year old Wade over a 23-24 year Mayo get out of here. I didn't even her anybody talk about Wade, until Shaq rolled into town. Shaq made Wade.

False for his entire career. Mayo will never have the defensive presence that Wade has.

Some one got some Pepto-Bismol? Please?

People talked about Wade in college when Marquette went to the Final Four.

First of all Mayo didn't even guard Wade for the majority of that game. It was Demarre Carroll, so he didn't drop 35 on Mayo. It was more like 10 or 12 points the rest was on Carroll.

Mayo deserves all the hype he has gotten in his life, he will be the best player of this generation

I think Mayo will be slightly better, since he will probably be playing a lot of minutes while Wade may not even be healthy in 3 years.

It is more possible than a lot of people think. Wade will be on the verge of 30 in two years and thats getting close to the time that perimiter guys start to decline. Also lets not forget Wade's injury history.

Wade's health and age will prevent him from playing at the level he is playing at right now IMO. So young cats with alot of potential like OJ Mayo, John Wall, Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin, could pass him.
The thing about Wade is that with all his injuries and his age he doesn't have a lot of mileage on his legs so even though he will be 30 in a few years it is more like 25 years old for him.

heres the video recap. It looks like a lot of grizzlies ended up guarding wade not just Mayo. Mayo did steal the ball pretty badly from Wade. Wade being a vet should know to protect the ball. Can't wait to see them go at it again in the regular season.

No.

Mayo has potential to become one of better 2nd-tier players in the league. Wade, on the other hand, is a top 3 player in everyone's book. Anyone who thinks Mayo will be as good as Wade is delusional.

Hell no

in the next 2-3 years Wade will be putting up 28-30\7\6 stats, and his team will be winning over 40 games

OJ Mayo averaged like 19\3\3 and his team won less then 30 games last year.

Its not even close

Wade will be considered top 3 SG all time when said and done.

Last nights game was a example of the difference between Wadea nd Mayo

Of course he can, if D-Wade is already better than Drexler in 6 years, why can't OJ Mayo be better than than both Drexler and Wade in just three seasons??

Mayo made two uncontested 3 balls over Wade. That doesn't tell a thousand words. It didn't even look like the defense was trying either.

Mayo is still young while wade is pretty much at his prime already......Given mayo's age, I think there is a CHANCE for him to surpass wade....They key is to stay injury free and to keep improving his game...Also, let's npt forget about wade's championship....IMO, winning a championship has a big impact in defining a player's career.

False. A lot of people jokingly poke at Wade, but you can't deny his game. Oj Mayo has a long way to go to be even mentioned in the same sentence with Wade and it will take more than the next two years to even think of it.

You're not very good at this whole sarcasm thing...

Way to sway from the question as well, as it was meant in terms of actual on court play at the time...

And no, Mayo wouldn't be able to take over Clyde or Wade career wise in 3 seasons either. He'd have to make the all NBA team 5 times, a few all defensive teams, and win a championship. Typical ISH poster response. Angry a day later after someone disagreeing with them...

The story of OJ Mayo is one of the saddest NBA stories out there. He had all the talent in the world, but it never developed into production.

To me, it is one of the biggest bust of the 00's.
Moreso than Selbastian Telfair. A thead like this proves it. Bastian was all flash, little substance. OJ on the other hand came into the league looked the best guards in the eye like Brandon Roy, Manu Ginobili Dwyane Wade, and put 30 points on their ass, as a rookie that went one and down.

Then something went wrong, I am still trying to figure out what went wrong. Long live OJ Mayo. :applause: .

I bet playing with Nash would get his confidence back.
