Such a fascinating character. I think he would a been a decent boss if he was more responsible & wasn't a drug addict.

only watched the first four episodes and it didn't grab me. though i'm sure if i ever decide to give it the better chance it deserves, and i probably will in the future, i'll be hooked.

on a related note though, cool article on HBO (http://www.economist.com/node/21526314) and competing against network television, other pay cable stations, and new stuff like Netflix. worth a read, especially if you love HBO programming as much as most.

Junior. As legendary of a show as it was, I almost think that had the premise been Johnny and Junior's lives, rise, and fall would have been even better.

I was the same way the first time I tried to watch it, but now I'm an addict. Have powered through the first 4 seasons in the last month or so.

Show had such epic moments in the first 2-3 seasons. "Why don't you go fix a dick."

Chris was my favorite, but it's tough to steer away from Tony because the show was so revolved around him. I watched this entire series last summer in about 2-3 weeks and will have to revisit it at some point soon.

That Silvio clip above was awesome :oldlol:

Actually, the actor who played Furio was given the boot for spoiling the results of future unseen episodes. Otherwise, his character would have stayed.

Currently finished Season 3 and starting Season 4 ... ive noticed that all of the season finale's have no cliffhanger type ish moments. It kinda just feels like long episodes with no Climax.. anything i should know?

Aside from Tony, who is obviously hard to rank as he has a hand in almost everything:

Johnny Sack
Carmela Soprano
Junior Soprano
Artie Buco
Furio Giunta
Richie Aprile

Some say the villains grow season-by-season, but I think Richie is the most volatile.

Meadow is by far the worst, imo. Probably the only poorly written "main" character.

Richie didn't give a f*ck about a Tony Soprano :lol1:

Easily his biggest threat outside of Phil Leotardo.

Why are people saying Ralph? Dude was the biggest prick. Tony killing him was one of the most satisfying moments of the series for me.

He was a great character though. He wasn't really written to be likable or sympathetic, outside of his son drama. Joey Pantoliano put on an acting clinic with his work. :applause:

Yeah he was definitely a well written character. But in terms of characters I rooted for, he was near the bottom.

My top 3 outside of Tony are probably:

Tony B
Bobby
Paulie

AJ was also surprisingly likable in the later seasons.

I think it's more about appreciation for the writing/acting/character as a whole.

Livia and Janice are detestable characters but the way they are written and performed is top-notch. You have to admire that, even if they are annoying.

Meadow, however, was a huge misstep imo. Shoddy, manic acting from a shitty actress and the writing staff seemed to base her entire existence on an MTV girls' diary. I feel like puking in almost every scene she's in. Worst major character in the show.

Vito is another one. The actor just didn't have the chops to play a deeply conflicted homosexual. The storyline itself and the underlying message kind of saves it, but the character on its own is pretty "meh". Johnny Cakes and Vito having sex together is a pretty hard sell.

He was repugnant, but funny as hell. He was also the best earner Tony ever had...and he killed him over a horse. (on that note...I've always thought that he didn't do it.) Show was never the same after he was killed off.

It's pretty obvious that he did.
