hey guys, let's talk about michael jackson here. i'm a new mj fan basically becoming one when he died. so i wanna know what other fans think about him. (no haters please)
what are your top mj songs?
here are mine in no particular order:
beat it
billie jean
black or white
man in the mirror (this is a really good song, i actually first heard it when he died)
will you be there
you rock my world (i thought the invincible album is pretty underrated)
human nature
i want you back
remember the time
i mean obviously i just started listening to his music but i've been overwhelmed by the sheer number of hits he was able to produce.
GOAT entertainer, he is unparalleled and i personally think no other artist will ever come close to this guy's stature. i love this guy's humility despite his super stardom.
oh by the way, THIS IS IT was awesome.
does he like basketball? cos he had the other mj in jam and magic in remember the time. seems like a basketball junkie to me.
lastly, how do you rate him as a dancer? i think as a performer he's already the GOAT.

I love Everything on Off The Wall
Some of my favorite Michael Songs other than the obvious (Beat It, Bad, Billie Jean etc.)
Man In The Mirror
Dirty Diana
Ben
Give In To Me
Will You Be There
Gone To Soon
Got To Be There
They Don't Care About Us
You Are Not Alone
Butterflies
With A Child's Heart
Baby Be Mine
Speed Demon
This Time Around
D.S.
I pretty much love all his solo work. Except for Little Susie, creepiest shit ever. Heard it when I was like 6 and it still frightens me.

off the wall is pretty much a disco album right? i do know some of the songs from that album like rock with you.

He's a huge basketball fan, he and his brothers used to play all the time.
For those of you guys that haven't seen Capain EO you really missed out. I saw it when it first came out at the height of my MJ stanness and I was blown away.
You can watch it online, but its nowhere near the same experience.

I have downloaded and watched all his tours. The thriller, bad, dangerous, history tour. He is a phenomenal performer, I advise you all to get the dvd's or download it.
One of my favorite concerts is Michael Jackson's 30th anniversary concert in 2001 where he plays with the Jacksons. He was AWESOME. And it was awesome to see him with the Jacksons and Jermaine

Can you actually believe their some people that compare Chris Brown, Usher and all this carbon copy's to MJ? back in the day he had the whole package, can't believe some young people even dare to compare all these copy's. 80's Mj>>>>>>every artist that ever lived.

Yea, I think I just liked it a lot because he hadn't performed for a while and it was the 1st time all the Jackson's were reunited in a very long time. It was a great performance overall imo

Well if you don't think MJ was a musical genius then you are very misinformed and just plain wrong. There is no opinion if he was a genius or not. He is and that's that.

im glad im not the only one who has liked invincible. feel it would've performed better if it had an accompanying tour. and he left sony that time. 10 million copies would've been a dream come true for other artists.

SO AGREEEEED. and i am a chris brown and usher fan. but they got nothin on mj. i feel so sad that i only got the chance to see who he really was when he died. hate the media for effin him up so badly. he seems to have a really good heart and is a genuinely nice guy. been looking at mj videos where he's at the mall and does not hesitate to shake the hands of fans and speak with them. not all celebrities are like him.

Michael Jackson joined his brothers band at the age of 5 in 1964 as the percussionist/bongo player (only Jackie, Tito and Jermaine were performing by then, they started in 1963.)
By 65, they were winning local contest and in 66 started performing professionally (there first gig at a strip bar called Mr. Lucky's.) By 67, they were perfoming at such places like the Apollo and the Regal in Chicago. They also cut there first record in mid 67 called Big Boy, it was a hit u east and even got mention on a Jet magazine in 1968.
By 68, they were veterans, performing with such greats as James Brown, Temptation, Gladys Knight and the O'Jays (this was all before Motown and Mike was 10 years old.)
He lived a full life before he was out of elementary school.

In terms of success, no one really. They were the first artist to have their first four singles go to number 1 and their next two wasn't too shaby, they were number 2 hits. Every single they released hit the top 40 on the pop charts besides their last single, (which wasn't promoted as they were leaving Motown.) They seriously ere probably the most famous black band ever, (and this was before Mike went solo with all his success in the 80s)
Also, these were kids, making and playing this type of music and outperforming veterans in the process.

They're the top selling black band of all time at over 150 million records sold. The knocked the Beatles Let It Be off the charts with The Love You Save, and also toppled the Beatles attendance record in their hometown of Liverpool England in 1972.
During the J5 years, there of the brothers released solo records. Mikes first solo release was released in 1971, not 79 as most historians have you believe. His first two singles in 71 and 72 were top 5 hits and had his first number one hit later that year with Ben.
Jermaine was the second bro to go solo, his first album went platinum in 1972 and had a top 10 pop hit with Daddy's Home.
Jackie went solo the next year in 7, but his album didn't to to well as his younger brothers. It is a very rare record if you can find it now, and I heard it and it's not bad at all, (Motown was just releasing so much J5 material in 73 that it gost lost in the shuffle and wasn't promoted.)

It is a very rare record if you can find it now, and I heard it and it's not bad at all, (Motown was just releasing so much J5 material in 73 that it gost lost in the shuffle and wasn't promoted.)
wow i never thought they were that successful. i always kinda had the thought that j5 was just basically mj's steppingstone. well j5 was, but it was one heck of a steppingstone. it was pretty insane, what they were able to achieve. got more respect for these guys now!

The J5 are one of the greatest bands / groups ever, They weren't no stepping stone, they have their own legacy. You know thee are many sans of just the Jackson 5 / Jacksons who are not real big fans of Mike's solo work.

MJ and his bros started writing song in 72, but Motown wouldn't give them any creative control and wouldn't let the martial come out. They left Motown in 75 and signed with Epic Records, so his first released writin track is a little diddy called "Blues Away."

Cause you could actually here it. Japanese crowds are great cause they let you actually give a show instead of screaming at the top of their lungs all concert long.
