Only if it came with the outfit.

Otherwise, you're just some jerk with a cowbell.

 Come on.

I think the next step for these "hero" games is to incorporate all of them into one game. Instead of having a DJ/Guitar Hero, have a game where people can make adjustments to whether what kind of game they want. Users should have the choice of which popular instrument they want to play.

Cowbell is the most overrated percussion instrument ever. It has nothin' on the tambourine.

You mean some kind of game where you could possibly play multiple intsruments? A game where you could play bass, guitar or drums? That would be so fun!

Trumpet Hero would be cool. Playin' some Miles Davis on the Box.

That would just be unsanitary. Well, I would stick the drumstick from Rock Band in my butt if I owned it, but that's my prerogative.

but then they couldnt make you buy a special controller. FTR I think they are all ridiculous and discourage real play with actual instruments. very sad

True, but real instruments cost a lot of money. I just think its a cool way to ease the gen pop into actually playing a real instrument. I would not want it to be a substitute.

You have no clue if that's happening or not. No reason to think it's not getting people interested into playing real instruments. Got me playing the drums for real, because RB2 with the cymbals is just like playing the drums.

Hey, its a start. I am sure that its getting some people out there into real music. It might not get a lot of people interested, but these games do have their effect on a certain few. I would not know though, because every time I play rockband, everyone forces me to sing.

For a beginner, over 500 is way to much.

DeuceWallaces
11-05-2009, 11:39 PM
Borrow or rent something until you know you're gonna stick with it. Five hundred is a beginners guitar that won't be worth next to nothing as soon as you walk out the store with it and won't promote bad technique.

thats not true at all. there are plenty of solid electric and acoustics under 500. you can get a peavey t-60 (brilliant guitar) for 3-4. an alvarez regeant is a fine guitar under 5 as well

No way. I can't think of a bigger waste than buying an alvarez, yamaha, really any brand name for 3-400 dollars that has no lasting value. Rent or borrow until you can afford something that has long term playing and monetary value.

Seriosuly, why would you add the cost of the game console on there? How many people buy a 360 JUST for Guitar Hero? You get a lot more out of your game console.

vapid
11-06-2009, 01:14 AM
I'm sure plenty of people got the 360/ps3 just for rock band when it came out.
I doubt its a significant number. And 360/ps3s have decent resale value and at the very least double as a DVD/Blu-Ray player.

Harp Hero.

But on the fo rizzle, you can buy a guitar for wayyy under 500. You just have to look around, some people go to a shop and spend 700 for a guitar and another guy will go to a pawn shop and spend 250.

I used to play electric but just play acoustic now mostly for camping. I have an epiphone sg special, I don't know sound very well but lots of guys I know said they loved it. I got it for an even 200$.

You can find yourself a couple of Japanese or Mexican Deluxe Fenders for that kind of money.

Perfectly fine guitars.

I also have a Danelectro that set me back 200 (€ that is) that sounds very cool.

I don't think this is true in all scenarios.

I've spoken with just about every music clubhouse director in the Boston area and each one of them either have Rock Band at their facility or plan on getting it for the kids. They find that it's actually encourages them to play the real thing. It becomes a smoother transition for John Doe kid bass player to play drums in Rock Band to help encourage him to play some basic patterns on the real set. It's also just a fun thing for them to do at the clubhouse.

Just a little positive spin on the game.

BS, for learning purposes it is just fine. Why would anybody spend a lot of money on a learner instrument?

When you get good then go drop cash on an expensive one.

Which is exactly why I said rent or borrow until you're certain. A 2-400 dollar instrument is worth 50 as soon as you walk out of the store.
