Kobe at least is a real man, he wouldn't be friendly to the rookies or really cared about meeting them but he'd at least shake their hand and may say something to Tyler Hansbrough.

KG is just an ignorant punk.

"I remember one time Kevin Garnett was mushing him, and shoving him in the face; and Tim Duncan didn't do anything, he didn't react. He just kicked Kevin Garnett's ass, and won the damn championship. You know what I'm sayin'? That's gangsta. Everybody can show emotion, dunk on somebody, scream and be real cocky; but Tim Duncan is a ... he's a pimp."

-Ron Artest

As someone who played fairly high-level AAU basketball in high school, I really don't like how people try to excuse borderline sociopathic behavior by basketball players as necessary for greatness. I think Duncan proves you can be an all-time great without being a dick to everyone around you.

I always thought the guys who would try to talk trash and psych out the other team were suspect. Good players aren't going to be intimidated by you; they're going to think you're a clown.

Artest is right -- someone who kicks your ass like it was no big deal -- those were the dudes that de-moralized you.

You made more crybaby replies than AJ Price and Tyler Hansborough combined. Neither are upset nor butt hurt about it. You on the other hand? Continue your moronic whines. Thats funny that a bball player can get under the skin of a fan who wasnt in attendance of what took place. And that the players themselves dont respond like the fan that wasnt even there.

And you wouldnt have did anything if you were AJ Price besides continue to shoot your FTs and wait for downtown to post on ISH. Thus supplying us with another stupid thread. Heck if you were AJ Price maybe KG would have spoken on behalf of all of us and say "F*ck your threads".

And KG has won a ring in Boston being the major reason for it. And Boston is one of the favorites to win it all this season. KG again being the reason. You can also go to past champions and find "suspect" behavior. yu can also go and find past shortcomers who were modest in thier approach.

Basically your point is I prefer the guy who doesnt talk than the guy who does. Thats it. You and others may frown on Kgs antics but atleast he is consistent with who he is and not fake. I find this kind of stuff funny. Reminds me of stories from older players in team sports.

It's more just like c'mon man, you can just be polite and say hi to a younger player who probably grew up idolizing you. You're right that it's not really a big deal, but there's never any harm in being respectful to another man whose done nothing to wrong you.

how is that disrespecting when you are unofficially supposed to haze rookies in this league. you haze them on your own team so im supposed to guess u do worst or become ignorant of other teams' rookies as well. they havent done anything in this league to be honest so i dont see why garnett has to acknowledge them. maybe the way he did was kind of a prick move but its not really required of him to do it anyway.

people actually think championships mean something in life? the fact that KG is a champion means **** to me...As a man it makes me thing nothing more or less of him. His behavior is what I judge him on and he can barely speak and acts like a child. I dont care if its fake or not, its not the behavior of a man.

If I was on the downside of my career, and Rasheed Wallace was getting all the praise like I once did, and I was at best the third best player on my team but felt I was an All-Star no questions asked... I'd be bitter, too. KG's never been a nice guy though. If he's not on the court talking smack, he's on the sidelines cussing everyone one out when the Celtics can barely get by the 8-seed Bulls.

I dont think its so much condoned as it is seen for what it is. Irrelevant. 6 months ago KG said something to someone. And here we sit with adults apparently disgusted wishing injury on him.

**** is just weak to me. Such a non issue for people to be upset about. There are real issues in the world. I nthe world of sports even. Here we sit 6 months after a man disrespected some rookies discussing what it means about his personality with other people wishing injury on him over it?

You would think the guy ended a speech to some pre schoolers iwth "Bust a n*gga head, smack a b*tch, shoot the club up!".

Dude was talking to some grown men he is expected to compete against and humble in the days to come. Ive had worse said to me pickup games with friends and with people I didnt know.

+1.

Either way, I dislike KG mainly because he goes about being an arrogant ******* when he has accomplished nothing in his life other than in the game of basketball. Rookie hazing happens, but most of that hazing is in an encouraging joking way. KG is just a *********, and the NBA has been trying to seperate itself from the "public" image that the league is full of thugs & selfish *******s.

Why do you think they force so many of their non-thugs and non-selfish *******s into a classroom or community center to help underpriviliged children, and then cut the cameras on to film a NBA Cares commercial?

Nobody should be forced to put up with the immaturity of a 33 year old man in the public spotlight.

So what do you suggest should be done.. Send him off to the ethics committee and have them train him about common courtesy? Personally i'm a basketball fan, and therefore anything any NBA player does off the court is irrelevant to me. Especially whether he meets and greets people with a friendly smile and handshake. Who cares?:violin:

Is he ignorant? Yes

Is he annoying? Yes

Is he going to mess with the wrong person one day and pay for it? Probably

Is this story an issue? Hardly

We all know what KG is like these days. It's nothing new and he probably is going to piss off the wrong person. Let's just hope that happens and when it does, then it will be a story.

Either way, I dislike KG mainly because he goes about being an arrogant ******* when he has accomplished nothing in his life other than in the game of basketball.

How often does someone accomplish major things in something other than what they devoted their life to? Hes been playing basketball for a living for 15 years and spent several before that playing with the hopes of getting that living. After about 18 years devoting your life to one thing what are the odds you have accomplished much in several other areas?

Nobody should be forced to put up with the immaturity of a 33 year old man in the public spotlight.

You are being forced to read about 6 month old comments?

How have you ever been forced to put up with anything KG or any other athlete has ever done that wasnt in your face?

But no one is gonna be a Macys and just go up to someone and say F you. Thats ignorant and more akin to what KG did.

Also imo screaming F you to people is ignorant. Just b/c you seem to run into a lot of ignorant people in NY doesnt make it any less ignorant. Just because a lot of people do something doesnt make it less ignorant.

Ive been called worse in pickup games with friends and with people I didnt know.

Took no offense. These guys probably forgot it 11 seconds later but after 6 months we have grown ass men online complaining?

Fans have gone tastycake lately.

You're full of bull****.

That is the main reason why pick-up games often end in violence with fights and sometimes even worse. Pulling up and hitting a jumper in somebody's face and yelling "Take that **** broseph, How my ass taste? woop woop" is not compared to pulling up and hitting a jumper in somebody's face and yelling "**** you insert slur here".

I hate overly aggressive basketball players who try to physical & verbally attack you in hopes of throwing you off your game, and in the process provoking a fight. I simply hate overly aggressive people in general that go about life provoking people due to their own insecurities, nobody who hasn't done anything to you deserves to be physically or verbally abused.

In this case it was an assistant coach asking KG to just head down the hall and say something to their rookies because "they're new to the NBA blah, blah, blah". Maybe give some advice or whatever he wants to say to them. He could've easily have said No and claimed he was busy. Instead the ghetto mentality of him comes out and he just clearly disrespects them by saying "**** your rookies" for no reason.

AJ Price obviously didn't take it to heart because hes been through a lot in his life as well, but I gurantee you anybody else who is equally as aggressive as KG would've followed his ass and down the hall and blackened his eye.

Gotta agree with KBlaze. Buncha ******* in here. Can't admit the fact that they just don't like KG. Doesn't matter what he does. Doesn't matter that KBlaze had a long post a while ago in regards to KG only picking on smaller white guards and he outlined a number of incidents involving players who were equal in size or bigger. But of course, it was completely ignored in that thread and everyone went on with their lives hating.

But it's funny, you know, ISH spends all their time complaining about the good old days, when the players were tough and that was *real* basketball. Bird telling Xavier McDaniels he's gonna drop a thrice in his face to win a game and to go f*ck himself. You guys laugh about it and say how badass Bird was and all those defensive bigmen of the 80's/90's.

Then comes playoff basketball when the refs swallow their whistles and the REAL men are made and REAL basketball is played, and you're all ready for it. "Here comes playoff basketball guys!" Hard fouls, technicals, flagrants, suspensions, fights, brawls, and that's playoff basketball.

But when KG says "F*ck your rookies" you guys are complaining?

Uhhh, what?

Lamar Odom or any other big man does something like that and all the LO/LA homers are like "yeah dawg, punk that b*tch!" But when KG does it, he's an a*shole and a prick.

And I'm not saying this because I'm a Boston fan, if this were someone else I'd be saying the same exact thing, but you guys don't complain about anyone else. You've all got UKGMad? syndrome

Exactly.

There is nothing about him to be arrogant about, his only feeling of self worth is his bank account and the fact he has scored a lot of points playing a game.

Thats about it.

So athletes with hundreds of millions of dollars shouldnt be arrogant?

Most everyone is arrogant to some degree....and people who are among the best to ever do something...who made hundreds of millions off of it...shouldnt be?

Disagree. By being a rich and famous athlete, there are gonna be people who hate you just for that reason. Wasn't there an article posted about MJ punching Steve Kerr in practice? I mean honestly, **** happens.

Its not **** happens...MJ was acting like a child. And he still acts like a child. He hasnt grown up either based on the conduct he has shown in the public spotlight. There is more to being a man then winning championships.

No, he was in his third season.

I double checked and it was in September 2000. I thought it ws during his rookie season for some reason.

Disagree. By being a rich and famous athlete, there are gonna be people who hate you just for that reason. There are people who hate you just for the simple fact that you get paid millions of dollars to put a ball through a hoop while others do things that are far more complicated and get paid a fraction of that... I believe that KG is smart enough to know the time and the place for his comments seeing as he's been in the league for so many years and you never hear of him being involved with the law or in a bunch of off court altercations.

That's true, but if I'm that rich and famous, I wouldn't be at a club or put myself in a similar situation, but that's just me. I'm not against players going to clubs or having lives, but they need to be aware of those risks and make sure they're safe.

There is a distinctino between hard fouls and acting like a child. Going down on all fours, punching a rookie in the face mid layup in practice. Mean-mugging from the bench. These are acts of a child throwing a tantum or someone who never grew up

What's the point of your reply? I don't see one. I'm making an assumption on Bill's career. Your reply makes no sense. It has nothing to do with mine.

I dont understand the premise of your post. Who is making an assumption on KG's career? If you talking about the acts im mentioning(KG's career) Im distinguisghing why you can come to one "assumption" based KG's career and another "assumption" based on Bill's.

the acts that Bill did and the one's KG do are inherently different and lead to different conclusions about the man.

PIGS!" and it's like, God damn, they are just like everyone else, why do they have to be holier than thou. There's all kinds of people at my work... Cheaters, liars, *******s... The incident was clear. Garnett could've handled it better. He could've just said no, and there would be no discussion. But instead, he said it in a disrespectful manner. I have been a big fan of KG since his Minnesota days but have become tired of his unnecessary arrogance. That is all.

Fedor Emelianeko is a beast on the fighting ring and has no mercy for his opponent when he is not fighting...Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Wade play each other tough on the court with physical defense and aggressive plays yet they are good friends when they are off the court. Same thing for Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. My point is that just because you act one way on the basketball court doesnt mean you act the same when you are not playing.

His behavior is what I judge him on and he can barely speak and acts like a child. I dont care if its fake or not, its not the behavior of a man.

There are always gonna be the people who say well "KG makes more money than you"...and I wouldnt trade my IQ and ability to percieve the world for KG's IQ/talent combo ever. The world isnt about just money/fame

This guy gets it. I admire the skill and talent of KG as a Basketball player, but my opinion of him as a person continues to decline. A little bit of rookie hazing can be amusing and can knockdown the ego of a kid that thinks he is too good too soon. Anyone think AJ or Tyler are sitting around thinking they are too good for most NBA players already?

Most of these young men coming into the league have looked up to guys like KG for years and years. They have worked their asses off to be part of the very same league that KG is in. Nobody is suggesting that KG needs to give these kids tips on how to beat the Celtic's in the playoffs, just say a few encouraging words. Even the most trite "work hard, and watch out for the injuries" drivel would suffice and mean so much to most of these guys.

If you have the chance to pull somebody up or push them down, why would you want to be the negative person?

I bet if this wasnt KG, nobody would be talking about it. All of the people on here making a big deal are Lakers fans which isnt suprising. I am a Laker fan myself, and as a Laker fan, you should know that Kobe is the biggest sh*t talker in the NBA, but it does not get reported because he doesnt have a reputation for it like KG.

If you ever go to a game, and actually sit close, you can hear how much sh*t talking goes on between players, but somehow KG is the only one that is always targetted. I cant believe people still get butt hurt over something like this. Infact I think our league today has become a bunch of pu**ies in general, where everything is a foul. What happened to hard hits, and actually earning a foul?

Some of you need to get a reality check, and take light of this situation. KG is just trying to prove to the rookies who is the boss, and if anything that should give them motivation to become better and prove these superstars wrong that all look at them as scrubs.

You think when a rookie is guarding Kobe, Lebron, Wade that they are not thinking the same thing KG is, they probably are and sometimes they let it be known, but nobody talks about that. Its part of the game, and if these rookies can accept it, then why cant we?
