93 Dodge Shadow - had rust spots all over the hood and roof, cost $500 then another $600 when I broke one of its weak struts by hitting a pothole. forced to pay a mechanic since I was out in the city for college back then and not at my dads where hes got all the tools. had holes in the muffler and stuff, sounded loud and looked terrible.
93 Dodge Spirit - bought it with 87,000 miles and currently has 124,000. cost $700. I've had to change the head gasket, plugs, wires, radiator, and brakes. But the frame is surprisingly solid for its age and its running good. No rust on the exterior so it's not embarrassing to drive, and it gets me to and from work. I could afford a newer car, but why? I'm going to be driving a steady 75-80 mph the majority of my trip whether it's this old Dodge, or something new and costly. gets 29 mpg highway and because of its age doesnt have to pass emissions inspections

You're a good person. I think you and I would get along.
Love VWs. Even though they're slow as hell I really want a Cabrio convertible. I would have gotten one if I weren't so scared of their mechanical problems. I don't have the money to keep a defective German car running, that ****'ll destroy your bank account.
And more recently I was going to get a GTI but just couldn't find the right deal.

04 Mountaineer (lease, went back in 07, real nice)
07 Avenger (lease, I wanted the Charger but settled cuz I wasn't tryin to spend that much money and absolutely needed a car as the Cutlass wasn't exactly reliable for every day driving in Detroit winters. Kinda regret gettin it now, but I only got a year left on it)
I dunno what I'll get next, prolly not another lease though.
I still wanna get a Marauder. Maybe I'll be able to find an affordable one of those next year when my lease is up.

2015 Porsche Carrera
That Mercedes Coupe!!!!! That's an incredible car. I had A '64 Mercedes a while ago. So well built, drove like it was new, kept up with modern cars easily.
Yep it's a classic, solid roadster. Got it for a dirt, cheap price but it's already more than 30 years old back then. The only thing i didn't like about it was that it had a 3-speed auto. A stick shift would have been better for that car.

Too bad about the automatic. Mine had a 4speed, on the column shifting. Awesome car.

Yes but the problem with that kind of car is maintenance. Something that old translates to possibility of several parts breaking down and depending on where you live, replacement ones may be so scarce and not so cheap at all if you're unlucky enough because it's not a practical brand like toyota either so you're going to be filled with a lot of nervousness lol.

I got lucky with the spare parts. When I got my car, the transmission was seized up completely, wouldn't run at all. Coincidentally, my neighbor just happened to have a good friend down in Cape Cod who used to run a cab company with all 60's Mercedes. He had a freaking warehouse full of spare parts. My buddy and I drove down there and I had 3 different replacement transmissions to choose from. Cost me a couple hundred bucks.

Ya i have a buddy who’s a huge f150 fan who keeps pitching me. I would just feel silly in that thing because I’m really not a construction/handy dude so I would really never be utilizing its purpose properly.
But I do agree that they’re fkin beasts. I’m loving the new Lincoln tho, it’s under the radar but the inside is pure luxury top of the line everything, plus it’s got some power and drives well too
The new lincolns surely have very nice premium interiors that are far modern than their older counterparts but if there's one thing that isn't desirable about them, it's that they changed the traditional shifters to rotary ones. They look good but what makes them boring is that you're just going to rely on their paddle shifters for sequential shifting. I'm also not certain about their reliability once they become old.
My aunt who lives in new jersey owns a 4-year old mkx. Was quite surprised to see that such car already uses rotary for its shifting when i got inside of it.

Well you're very lucky your neighbor has a colleague who runs one. Tbh i wouldn't want to own it for long-term since i don't live in germany or some other country near there. For sure the spare parts in them are abundant, even for very old models like their classic roadsters but if i could pick what condition i like the best for a car with that age, i'd go for the most preserved unit with still many original parts as much as possible rather than some which are just restored and already replaced with replacement parts unless i don't really have a choice.
2018 WRX
Looking for a weekend car - considering an M3 or an RS3.
Also might get a GTI MK6 or MK7. I want to get a cheap $3K manual car for the fun of it.
