Who's up with me? Can't sleep, listening to R&B. I was about to start a D'Angelo thread, but I figured nah.

Really wish I could find a movie to watch and drink beers. Lots and lots and lots of beer. Where's the beer when you need some?

Sounds like you're unprepared.

Drank a flat (for those who are unaware of the terminology - that's 24 cans) of beer last week and played The Show all night til the Godfather AMC marathon started at 530 a.m. and made it til the first break in Godfather Part II.

THAT is how you drink, especially if you're going to end up on your own, friend.

im not a morning person, night time is the right time and frankly, i always just grab the box and eat it by hand

dont know why, either, just find it easier, since i hate sitting at the table and eating

and i always see people putting sugar in their cereal in the movies and on tv and ive never done that once in my life

Night owl here as well. Worked the graveyard shift for too long, can't kick it. I mean, I can if I try, but if I just let myself be I always gravitate back to the same schedule.

same deal as me, had two night jobs in the last three years and i always seem to gravitate back to this schedule

and plus, i like the quiet, everyone is asleep and im not interrupted or bothered

MLB 08 The Show. Ps3. Since the computer is RETARDED, I was able to put together this lineup via trades:

CF - Sizemore
SS - Hanley Ramirez
LF - Manny Ramirez
3B - A-Rod
1B - Teixeira
DH - Chipper Jones
C - Mirabelli
RF - Swisher
2B - Pedroia

Varitek, somehow, is worth the price of gold in that game and I think I used him in the deal to acquire Chipper.

Point is, I traded so many guys/prospects away that there was no way I could get Mauer/McCann without giving up even more pitching. As it stands, I'm sitting with a rotation of Beckett/Dice-K/Ted Lilly/Lester/Buchholz, so thank God I average about 8-9 runs scored per game.

What's your rotation? I have such a hard on for Lester he'd be my ace, no matter who I've got.

edit: i mean order

A minute too late.

Lester's actually pretty sh*tty in 08, although at present he's 9-1 even though his ERA is floating around 6.00.

BTW, if you ever buy the game and have ONE player to begin a franchise with, go Chipper Jones. Hitting about .450 with 26 doubsies, 24 bombs and 85 ribbies from the 6 hole on that team after 60 games.

I want to start that series. Can you answer some of my questions...

Does the series revolve solely on Roland? I don't usually like narration to focus on other characters' point of view that much.

Also, does it take place in a world similar to our planet?

A lot of badass scenes btw?

I'd rather read as well. Listening to audio books takes too long. I hate my reading style though since I go way too fast. I usually miss small details.

pete's montreux
11-29-2009, 06:46 AM
happens to me too, read too fast sometimes

then i notice im reading too fast and read the same sentence like 10 times before i move on

weird, but its concentration issues with me, if i get into the right mood and concentrate then i dont miss anything

The series as a whole revolves around many, many characters. The main focus is on 4 individuals, and the stories delve deeply into their backgrounds. So you may be dissatisfied in that respect, for while Roland is the main character.. hes not the only focus.

The story and where it takes place is difficult to explain because its so sporadic in nature. Parts of the story is in a fantasy (alternative universe-like) world called Mid-World, and other portions are in 'our' world. Much of the series is however based in a magical atmosphere that is filled with fantasy type of stuff. The story is so jammed packed with so many different styles that its difficult to explain.

The stories are typically long and filled with a lot of description. So while it does hold many action sequences, they are far spread apart. Its not really a story I would call 'action' or 'thriller', ironically its character driven..

hey guys that are up, have any of you ever had an ex girlfriend that you haven't talked to for over a year call you out of the blue and tell you that "we can't talk anymore" due to her therapists orders?

didn't happen to me tonight, but i have a question if anyone meets that criteria

Damn. I can't bring myself to read those types of novels.

I usually like the stories of 1 main protagonist with supporting characters, kinda like the Drizzt Do'Urden books and Name of the Wind, which was a great novel. I don't like narration to focus on more than 1-2 characters however.

Any suggestions by book lovers?
