Manute for Ever!
12-12-2009, 02:59 AM
This is an article from Sports Illustrated's "The Basketball Book". I can't find a link for it, so I'm just typing it out.
Who's the best at every size? Bird or Magic? Elgin or Oscar? Wilt or Shaq?
The arguments with the heights themselves: Was Russell 6'9" or 6'10"? Was Manute 7'7" or "only" 7'6"? Did Walton insist he 6'11" only because he didn't want to be regarded as a seven-foot freak? And how many shorter guys tacked on an extra inch or two?
We consulted the best availabe sources and rounded upward. Then we got down to the nitty-gritty and made the tough calls on the best at each height. For the sake of continuing those worthy arguments, we've also listed the runners-up.
